Congratulations to the writing team of General Hospital on their WGA win earlier this evening. The Bold & the Beautiful also contended for the honor this year.

I am still banking that GH submitted the anniversary episode to help seal the win but would love to know what else was submitted to compliment this episode.

Do you think GH now becomes the frontrunner to win writing at the EMMYs? It is safe to say this episode will be submitted for ‘drama series’, ‘writing’, and ‘directing’…I was just wondering what you passionate fans of daytime think.

Congrats to GH on their win.

I was thinking over the weekend and I recalled a second GH episode from last year that I remember being good and standing pretty well on its own, the Valentine’s Day episode.  That one could be good for them in some of the big categories.

But I wouldn’t say this makes GH the frontrunner for the Emmy.  It’s a pretty different ballgame.  I made a list last year of shows that won the WGA award and the Emmy for writing going back like 40 years, and the rarely match up.  And in the aftermath of the writers strike, some writers who went FiCore are basically persona non grata at those awards, which can affect voting in some cases with the WGA but is less of a factor at the Emmys.
