January 28, 2018 at 8:55 pm #1202482207What an exciting list of nominees! While there are some categories where I know exactly who I’ll vote for, and others that are very up in the air.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2018 at 2:37 am #120248241820 of the 29 performers were pre-nommed for Daytime Emmy consideration. Freddie Smith, Deidre Hall, Bryan Datillo, Lauren Koslow, Lexi Ainsworth, Nicholas Bechtel, and guest performers Charles Shaugnessy, Alison Sweeney and Robert Scott Wilson were the exceptions. We did, however, have nominees in different categories: Arianne Zucker, James Reynolds and Judi Evans are in different categories for the Daytime Emmys.
The tie in Best Lead Actor was caused by a tie for fourth place, so we have five nominees in that category.
17 of the 29 performers nominated are from Days Of Our Lives, 5 from General Hospital, 4 from The Young and the Restless, and 3 from The Bold and the Beautiful.

20 different actresses were cited for Supporting Actress and 13 for Supporting Actor. 11 for Guest/Limited Performer, 16 for Lifetime Achievement, and 12 for the Legacy Award.
I will wait until after the winners are announced to get into specifics.
Some of the categories are extremely close so get your votes in! (:

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2018 at 4:08 pm #1202482973What a great list of nominees! Days really swept, and deservedly so! I am big on Days right now, and it’s nice to know that I am not the only one.
I’m especially happy to see Deidre Hall in Lead Actress, since she was not among the pre-nominees for the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Supporting Actress is a super strong category. That may be the most difficult to choose. Marla Adams made a great comeback. Judi Evans was amazing. Camryn Grimes is pretty much my daytime favorite. Lauren Koslow did some of her best work ever.
Not much love for GH this year, so I guess I am not the only one who is not enjoying it?
It’s interesting how the soaps change from year to year. Over the years, I have voted for all of the remaining soaps Best Daytime Series ay one time or another. It is noteworthy that as a group we can evaluate a year’s work rather than stay blindly loyal to one or two particular shows.
It would have been nice to nominate Amelia Heinle and Daniel Goddard, since they were such major players in 2017. They also diversified as performers, which for me is a big factor. While Peter Bergman is consistently excellent, his character is pretty much static, with the possible exception of the Alzheimer’s storyline.
Nevertheless, a great list of nominees!

A year ago, GH was 10x worse. Plus, it came in 2nd (though a distant 2nd) in nominations.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 30, 2018 at 8:44 am #1202483438I think part of the issue with GH for many fans is that while it has improved, it hasn’t improved enough to make up for the schlog that was the year and a half before that. But I do think 2017 was a good year overall for the soaps. With the exception of B&B, they all leveled up to some degree.

Poor Bryan Dattilo, still getting his last name spelled wrong for the second year in a row.

(Charles Shaughnessy’s last name also needs correction as it’s listed above)February 1, 2018 at 11:55 am #1202485176FYC: The Best Daytime Drama Series of 2017 (though DAYS did gain considerable ground in the second half of the year, so it gets my honorable mention):
The Bold and the Beautiful, in all categories
