Goody! I won’t get a chance to watch until over the weekend but I am really excited to see these! Thanks Scoopster, for letting us know!

Does anyone know if there has been any information on the submissions from each show for Series, Directing and Writing???

    Meh…

    5.) Ryan Ashton – Y & R – ” Look at me mom I’m acting! ” ” Look at me mom, I’m playing a crazy man holding a gun! ” . Nope.

    4. ) Rob Derringer – DOOL. He earned his paycheck because he creeped the hell out of me w/ his performance. Nice work but Arianna Zucker totally walks off with the scene.

3.) Morgan Fairchild – DOOL – I love me some bitch goddess and Morgan Fairchild owns the copyright to bitch goddess. Two nicely played scenes by her but nothing to write home to Emmy about.

2.) John Enos – DOOL – Elvis has left the building and moved outside of Salem. Enos killed it as a dimwitted Elvis wannabe. This is what a guest performance reel should look like. Loved it. It is a close race between Enos and Vernee Watson.

1.)Vernee Watson- GH- ” Today the role of Aunt Phoebe will be played by Aunt Stella” Watson had me at ” dishonest Jezebel! “. Vernee Watson is a riot in her reel as busy body Aunt Stella. Watson put together the smartest reel out of the group. She gets to play an entire acting arc in slightly under eight minutes. She starts out loaded for bear going for Jordan at the police station- all fury and self righteousness. Transitioning nicely from hot head, to level head and morphing into caring and warm Aunt Stella in her second scene with T.J. Her submission tells an entire story w/o throwing the viewer smack in the middle of it w/o a resolve. Great tape.

If anyone other than John Enos or Vernee Watson wins then Emmy needs to have her wings clipped.

No contest. Four performances with overacting kept at a minimum and then the great character actress Vernee Watson knocks it out of the park. A working actress since 1970, it is wonderful to see her get recognition. She brings the righteous anger of a wronged woman in a nicely shaded confrontation at the police station that leads to a heartfelt moment with TJ.

    Watson rules!

I’m happy they posted these, but I don’t love the reels:

    Personal Ranking:

    1. Verne Watson – fireworks in the beginning, end shows some range. She won’t win, but, well, whatever
    2. Morgan Fairchild
    3. Ryan Ashton
    4. John Enos
    5. Robb Derringer

Vernee Watson will probably win, but I wasn’t into her screaming. I preferred Ryan Ashton’s reel out of all of them. The Days performers were terrible.

Just finished watching the reels and I was surprised by how dull most of them are. I was even disappointed by the one I had remembered singling out when his scenes were first aired. An actress I don’t particularly enjoy was the only one who delivered a first-rate performance.

    1. Vernee Watson, GH – I particularly loved her scenes with T.J., which were tender and contrasted nicely to her anger towards Jordan earlier. This was the only reel where I felt a full performance was given.

    2. Ryan Ashton, Days – I loved this scene when it first aired but it felt in this context to be Melissa Ordway’s scene and not Ryan’s. It needed contrast too since there is only one long sequence in his reel.

    3. Robb Derringer, Days – a bit flat and one-note but he does a good job with the material, better than I remembered. Again, it’s his co-stars reel – Ari Zucker delivers here beautifully.

    4. Morgan Fairchild, Days – disappointed in her scene selection – she should have gone with scenes with Bonnie and Hattie. Her reel ends showing why Deidre Hall should be winning the Emmy this year. I found her scene with Steve boring. It was nice seeing her again. I actually think her death scene was her best scene and surprised she didn’t use it.

    5. John Enos, Days – I hated this reel. I was so surprised he didn’t submit his talk with the crazy Susan when she was having her breakdown; instead it was his first scene as Elvis Presley – yuck!

I think Vernee Watson will win the Emmy, and this is a change for me based on watching the reels.

I also did not love these reels.

Vernee Watson is the definite standout for me here, though I think Ryan Ashton also has a good reel, especially considering the others who made the top five and what that might suggest about what the voters are looking for. At first Watson seemed pretty over the top, but once her character is doing something other than yelling at Jordan, she goes through a nice range of emotions. Ashton is a great mix of what the other three nominees represent, would-be villainy and comic relief. He’s engaged and has plenty to work with. Morgan Fairchild is pretty funny as Anjelica spars with Steve, Adrienne and Jennifer. John Enos’s Roger is good, but the character is also a little too weird at this point in the story to really even get what he’s supposed to be doing. Robb Derringer is effectively awful and gross as Scooter, but the character is flat and unappealing.

    1. Vernee Watson, GH
    2. Ryan Ashton, Y&R
    3. Morgan Fairchild, DAYS
    4. John Enos, DAYS
    5. Robb Derringer, DAYS

That’s actually why I preferred Ryan Ashton’s reel – because it was totally different than the screaming and crying of the usual submitted reels.

All of the reels were short and none had much range. Enos picked the wrong scenes. Watson overacted. Derringer and Ashton were solid. Fairchild was delicious. The performance plus name recognition should get her an easy win.

    1. Fairchild
    2. Derringer
    3. Ashton
    4. Watson
    5. Enos

Morgan Fairchild’s face did not move the entire reel. It was frozen solid from all of the plastic surgery. No way she wins without showing any emotion whatsoever.

She wasn’t playing dramatic, emotional scenes. She’s playing a scheming villainess and was perfectly effective. Plus none of the other reels were amazing and she’s by far the biggest name in the category. Sounds like an easy win to me.

Fairchild did nothing! But you are right in that voters could name check her. But she does nothing Emmy worthy, and it would be an embarrassing win.

And the emmy’s have never had an embarrassing win before?? LOL
If they really did their homework, she shouldn’t have even have been nominated in the first, because I was sure one of the rules was to be eligible in guest performer, it had to be a brand new character, not only is anjelica not a new character, but she’s also been played by at least 2 possibly 3 other actresses. lol
