I have the strangest oddest feeling that Billy Flynn is going to win a Emmy next year. He would be well within his rights to win. No matter what scene he would pick during Abigail’s death he’d win hands down. His only competition would be Peter Bergman (Jack deals with Keemos death and Diana’s resurrection). Flynn should definitely put the scene of Chad and Kate arguing after Abby’s death.

Melissa Egan blew me away. Chelsea’s suicide attempt and her bio son

I’d like to see Marci Miller finally win. She blew everyone away with Abby’s scenes at Leo/Craig and Gwen/Xanders wedding.

Jacqueline maciness wood has a good chance of winning a third Emmy if she picked Steffy finding out that Finn is dead.

I’d like to see Greg Rikaart finally win a Emmy for Leo on Days. He’s so good in that role and he was definitely good in the who killed Abigail murder mystery. His scenes with Sloane and Rafe always were funny but dramatic.

I have a feeling Nicholas Chavez might win another Emmy. Spencer has had a crazy year on GH. One minute Spencer could be a idiot n the next he’d make you feel for him.

Maura West had a crazy year as Ava on GH from getting stabbed to finding out about Esme and Nikolas to standing by Trina during her trial.

Greg Vaughn is another to watch. Eric dealt with his torturing feelings for Nicole and being with Jada.

The Thomas set up Brooke story on B&b would be a good one for best writing but I see Days winning that one n best drama.

B&B could win directing if they choose the day Taylor talks Shelia off the ledge. That was great directing.

I so hope Peter Bergman does the right thing and stops submitting. I am so sick of his being on the Best Actor list – enough already!

I am interested in finding out which category Nicholas Chavez submits in – lead or supporting? He will not be eligible for Younger Performer. I will be rooting for him to win either way but I hope he submits in lead – he has been far and away the best actor of 2022 for me – the episode where he learned of Esme’s having had sex with his father was his Emmy gold episode.

I wonder if Kimberlin Brown will submit in lead? To me she belongs in lead, as does Melissa Clare Egan – I prefer Sharon Case of all the CBS actresses and her work in the episodes dealing with Rey’s death were her Emmy reel scenes for me. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is another CBS actress who did really strong work.

General Hospital has a ton of actresses who deserve nominations: Cynthia Watros, Maura West, Kelly Thiebaud, Rebecca Herbst, Genie Francis, Brook Kerr, Tabyana Ali, Sydney Mikayla (she will be eligible for Younger Performer), Eden McCoy, Avery Kristen Pohl, Alley Mills, Jane Elliot (for Guest Performer), Kirsten Storms (especially for the work she did with Wes Ramsey at the end of his storyline – she was phenomenal in all of those scenes)…. I don’t like Laura Wright’s work as Carly but the panelists sure like her…. William Lipton and Easton Rocket Sweda will be eligible for Younger Performer and I would definitely nominate Jon Lindstrom for Supporting Actor – his work as Kevin has been chilling albeit he hasn’t been on enough imo – his scenes with Avery Kristen Pohl, Maura West and Alley Mills have sizzled this year.

In addition to Billy Flynn and Greg Vaughan, Days has had some really strong acting from Paul Telfer, Chandler Massey, Zack Tinker, Bryan Datillo, Alison Sweeney (is she eligible for Guest Performer?), Emily O’Brien, Marci Miller (not a particular favorite of mine though), Arianne Zucker, Deidre Hall, Linsey Godfrey…. Kevin Spirtas has done some really excellent work too.

Then we have the pesky issue of what to do with the performers from Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem? My own view is that they really are Guest Performers because they only appeared in five episodes (unless they were regulars on Days or moved to Days afterwards).

The acting on soaps is always extremely high in quality even when the writing isn’t that great. Here’s hoping for a strong group of nominees this coming year. I am most interested in which category various performers will place themselves in.

I would be cool with either Peter or Billy winning!  Melissa Claire Egan for Best Actress with Chelsea’s depression and almost committing suicide but YES, I could see Jacqueline MacInnes Wood winning with Steffy finding out about Finn’s supposed death.  I rather see B&B submit Sheila/Finn/Steffy storyline for Writing instead and Taylor talks Sheila off the ledge was Directing but I think Brad Bell might submit Aspen or Finn finding Steffy (forgot where they were) or even Quinn racing across town to Il Gardino to stop Carter & Paris’s wedding.  Chelsea’s depression storyline could carry Y&R to win Writing.  DAYS could submit Abigail’s death for Writing and maybe Best Drama.  Emily O’Brien could get nominated for Supporting Actress and maybe Paul Telfer for Supporting Actor. YES, Ariane Zuker for Best Actress.

What about the Young Actors that plays Johnny & Connor on Y&R?????

I love both of your analysis. 2022 was a great year for soaps.

For B&B, this was a fantastic year of performances. I see Bold who is often the soap with the least amount of acting and creative arts nominations every year, picking up a large majority of the nominations.

    Lead Actress:

Katherine Kelly Lang – for the alcoholism story/Deacon kiss/break up with Ridge

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood – mourning Finn’s “death”, confronting Sheila, reunion with Finn

Kimberlin Brown – shooting Finn/Steffy, suicidal contemplation, confrontation with Steffy and Li,  holding Finn hostage,

    Lead Actor

Matthew Atkinson – vigil at Steffy’s bedside, the custody story over Douglas, CPS call confrontation with Ridge and Hope

Thorsten Kaye – crying at Steffy’s bedside when she was shot, break up with Brooke, confrontation with Thomas over the CPS call

John McCook –  break up with Quinn

    Supporting Actress

Rena Sofer – catching Donna/Eric’s affair, break up with Eric, love declaration to Carter/stopping Carter and Paris’ wedding

Naomi Matsuda – confronting Sheila in jail, crying at Finn’s bedside, confrontation with Steffy over her decision to keep Finn from everyone, reunion with Finn,

Annika Noelle  – Douglas’s custody story, confrontation with Thomas over the CPS call,

Krista Allen – crying at Steffy’s bedside, resolution to give up fighting for Ridge in Aspen,  Ridge leaving Taylor at the altar, and then letting Ridge know she is no longer an option and goodbye with Ridge,

    Supporting Actor

Tanner Novlan  – “dying” scenes,  being held hostage by Sheila, confrontation with Sheila over shooting him, desperately begging to get back to his wife and son, finding about Li’s “death”, reunion with Li, phone call to Steffy on plane, reunion with his Steffy and his kids,

Lawrence Saint-Victor –  Carter breaking down over Quinn, feeling alone, and his desire to be with the woman he loves, be a husband and have a family.

    Younger Performer

Henry Joseph Samiri – emotional dilemma over finding out his dad Thomas faked the CPS, confrontation with Thomas, and scenes with Steffy when he confesses Brooke being set up by Thomas

    Best Drama/Writing/Directing

STRONGEST OPTION: Finn and Steffy’s shooting in the alley of Il Giardino/The Aftermath of the Shooting (Steffy finding out Finn died/Steffy remembering Sheila shot her and Finn/confrontation with Sheila), Steffy and Finn’s reunion in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

There are other options, such as CPS Call Aftermath, Carter/Paris Wedding, Aspen, the HFTF Fashion Show, however the story surrounding Finn and Steffy’s shooting and their remote location reunion in Europe, may be the strongest in terms of writing and directing.
