Great list of nominations! Wow!
Excellent choices for the Legacy Award and Lifetime Achievement!
So happy to see Paul Telfer get some recognition!
Casey Moss can always count on us! 🙂
Eric Martsolf, Greg Vaughan, Jane Elliot, Melissa Reeves, Suzanne Rogers… these awards help to fill in the gap for all those names missing from the list of prenominations.
But most of all, so happy to see Darin Brooks and Rena Sofer nominated for Lead Actor and Lead Actress.January 25, 2017 at 9:03 pm #1201995753
Yes, these are great! Congrats to all the nominees. I feel good that between these and the prenoms, most of the year’s great performers were recognized. In some categories there was just too much talent.
Thanks again for putting these on, Freeman! I would love to hear more about some of the last-minute changes and close calls once the final voting for winners is done.January 29, 2017 at 11:48 am #1201997812
Thanks for putting this all together Freeman. I love the nominees but I’m shocked Y&R has the least acting noms. I’m sure the Emmys won’t agree! Ballot sent.January 29, 2017 at 12:59 pm #1201997855
Yes, good job with these, Freeman. I was also more surprised by this set of nominees than I was by the Emmy Pre-noms!
Really nice seeing Eric Braeden and Darin Brooks get some redemption here! I’m glad the very deserving work of some of the DAYS key players surrounding Daniel’s death (Suzanne Rogers, Eric Martsolf, John Aniston, Greg Vaughan and Melissa Reeves) wasn’t overlooked, which makes it all the more surprising that, even with all the support Ari Zucker usually gets from us every year, she unfortunately didn’t make the cut this time around. If she submitted her stand-alone episode (which I believe aired around this time last year) where Nicole is grieving over her loss, I can’t imagine how she could’ve missed getting at the very least a Pre-nom. So strange. But can we please talk about Casey Moss?!! Seriously, what does this guy have to do to get an Emmy nom? Sheesh. After being unfairly snubbed so many times, he probably lost hope and didn’t even submit his name this year. It makes it that much more meaningful seeing the Goldies give him the recognition he deserves!
I found it kind of interesting that, of the 14 total Guest Performers that received votes, the returning performers still managed to edge out the actors portraying newly-created characters. I wonder how many of those 14 performers actually belonged to the latter group? Makes me think we wouldn’t even have to distinguish between the two as I had originally proposed to make voting easier for this normally stacked category.January 29, 2017 at 2:34 pm #1201997888
I can tell you that only 3 or 4 (I am not even sure who Devon Martinez is; he got on one ballot for a role he played on Y&R. I have no idea who he is!) performers made it into the Guest/Limited Performer who created new roles and none of them came close to a nomination.
Yes, Casey Moss did not submit for Emmy consideration. Everyone who submitted in Younger Actor and Actress were automatically moved in to the next round.
I too wonder if Ari Zucker did not submit for Emmy consideration. Esp. since they moved Jess Walton into the 2nd round. The other thing to factor in is that sometimes performers don’t judge their own material very well and they submit the wrong scenes.
Votes have been coming in. Unlike last year, where 3 categories were landslide victories (the three actress categories), I don’t see that happening this year. Voting ends on Wed., Feb. 16 at 12 noon EST.
