She originated the role of Vanessa on Love Of Life in 1951, and appeared on General Hospital as well as her long-term role of Caroline on Days since 1985. She won a primetime Emmy award and was nominated 5 times for the Daytime Emmy. She was 90 years old. She will be missed. R.I.P.
ReplyVery sad news. I actually just started spontaneously crying in my office when I saw this morning. I didn’t expect she’d ever be back on DAYS, but it’s still really sad knowing that’s not a possibility now. I’ll definitely miss her, and feel especially sad knowing there won’t ever be another scene of Caroline calming down one of her trouble-making granddaughters like Theresa or Sami. Hopefully the show writes something really nice to pay tribute to her. It would be really nice if they could do something that, somehow, involves Peter Reckell and Patsy Pease, in addition to whatever other Brady kids, grandkids, cousins, etc. they can gather. It’s kind of crazy losing her and Frank Parker in such close proximity to one another. May she rest in peace.
ReplyCopy URLPeggy McCay was one of the grand dames who contributed so much to daytime. I greatly enjoyed her work on Days during the last few years prior to her retirement. She continued to bring her A-game and was great at both drama and comedy.
My mom and I were talking about her earlier and she said that Peggy McCay was her favorite Van (Vanessa’s nickname) on Love of Life.
I too hope they do a nice tribute. RIP Peggy.
