I am thrilled, ecstatic and really pleased with this list! Biggest disappointment: no Deidre Hall, and I know that she submitted ):

Thrilled that 20 performers from Days were pre-nominated! (: So happy to see Judi Evans (in lead), Greg Vaughan, Chandler Massey, Billy Flynn, Casey Moss, James Reynolds (he did submit in lead after all), Eileen Davidson, Arianne Zucker (in supporting), Victoria Konefal, Eric Martsolf, James Lastovic, Lucas Adams and to a lesser extent Susan Seaforth Hayes, Mary Beth Evans, Stephen Nicols, Galen Gering (that’s a big surprise), Olivia Rose Keegan… wow! (:

Choosing just five, these would be mine:

    Lead Actress:
    Sharon Case
    Eileen Davidson
    Judi Evans (winner)
    Nancy Lee Grahn
    Maura West

    Lead Actor:
    Michael Easton
    Billy Flynn (winner)
    Eric Martsolf
    John McCook
    James Reynolds

    Supporting Actress:
    Marla Adams (winner)
    Eileen Davidson (for Days)
    Camryn Grimes
    Mishael Morgan
    Arianne Zucker

    Supporting Actor:
    Darin Brooks
    Chad Duell
    Chandler Massey (co-winner)
    Greg Rikaart
    Greg Vaughan (co-winner)

    Younger Actress:
    Reign Edwards
    Hayley Erin
    Victoria Konefal
    Chloe Lanier (winner)
    Eden McCoy

    Younger Actor:
    Lucas Adams
    Pierson Fode
    James Lastovic
    Casey Moss (winner)
    Garren Stitt

I may have gotten my math wrong but I think Days got 20, GH got 17, Y&R got 15 and B&B got 9 pre-nominations.

I’m predicting zero acting wins for CBS. I’m sure that won’t happen but all of my predicted winners have crazy strong potential reels.

I have never laughed so hard seeing the name Galen Gering getting an prenom for Best Leading Actor! Is this a joke??? What did he do to earn a nomination? For what, he has rode Kristian and Alison’s coattails who have been by far the strongest actresses paired with him. Not to mention, compared to the work Don Diamont daily on Bold, the committee chose Gering.

I see no Camilla Banus, Lauren Koslow or Bryan Datillo! Again who is voting for this award show???

I didn’t mind seeing Victoria Konefal on the list for young actress. She’s been the best younger actress I’ve seen in years on daytime. So for her to come in right away and do her job, has been good.

I like that Eileen throw her name in the pot for Best actress and supporting. As she should have! I wouldn’t mind seeing her in both categories on the final lists.

Kelly more than likely turned in all the cat poo drama. I think she was good in it but I wasn’t blown away as others.

Michael Easton definitely turned in all his opioid scenes with Finn.

Adrianne turned in all the baby drama with Holly as well as Nadia.

one of the important things to remember is that we don’t know if the performers we wanted pre-nominated submitted or not. The only two I know for certain who did and I am incredibly disappointed they didn’t make it in are Deidre Hall and Freddie Smith ): I haven’t read any other names with certainly that submitted. I had hoped that Allison Sweeney would submit; perhaps she did, but I think she probably did not.

Also: sometimes actors aren’t the best judge of their own work and submit poorly. Others have their ONE great scene, submit it, and get pre-nominated.

I don’t see any completely glaring category frauds this year, although I would of thought Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is a lead on B&B, and Ari Zucker was a lead imo on Days. James Reynolds seemed more like he belonged in supporting to me but I am fine with it, it was borderline for him.

I believe they still have automatic pre-nominations for anyone who submits for Younger Actor and Younger Actress; so that means Nicholas Bechtel and Alyvia Alyn Lind didn’t submit this year.

These lists are quite good. The distribution of the prenoms is a little shocking. It’s great to see the wealth being spread, though, with Y&R having a healthy showing in most categories (except lead actor, with only Peter Bergman there, quite surprising), and DAYS and GH dominating in lead actor and supporting actor, respectively, and strong showings across the board. DAYS having the most prenoms (14 if you don’t count the non-competitive younger categories, 20 if you do) feels like something out of The Twilight Zone, but I’m obviously thrilled. GH, with either 12 or 17 prenoms depending on whether you count the younger actors, has the second most, with Y&R coming with third (11 or 15), followed by B&B (four or nine). This makes me hopeful that what usually feels like a strong Y&R bias isn’t really coming into play this year.

As for specifics, it’s very disappointing, almost criminal, not to see Deidre Hall on the lead actress list. The competition was tough, I suppose, and also maybe Hattie is a character that people just can’t take seriously? I’m surprised to see both Kelly Monaco and Marci Miller making the list, but good for them. Marci’s been great, so I love seeing her get some recognition there, and lead is the right category for her. I was surprised Judi Evans submitted in lead, but I don’t think it’s necessarily out of place.

Lead actor is probably the most surprising list overall. I did expect James Reynolds to show up there, but I didn’t think Eric Martsolf would submit there (though he should have, so good on that), and I wasn’t even considering Galen Gering as a factor. What could he have submitted that was stronger than whatever was submitted by Freddie Smith or whatever Y&R guys who didn’t make the cut? I’m equally surprised to see Michael Easton.

Other than Eileen Davidson, all of the DAYS prenoms in supporting actress are unexpected. Arianne Zucker should be in lead, but given that she left in the fall, I suppose going into supporting feels understandable. (Kate Mansi, who I had considered a lead last year despite leaving halfway through, had success with this approach last year.) Nadia Bjorlin is a total surprise to me, and I didn’t think Susan Seaforth Hayes would be submitting, so I didn’t think of her either. It’s nice to see Jacqueline MacInnes Wood get a little recognition here, even if she’s actually a lead on B&B. I’m excited to see the eventual reels in this category.

It’s funny that most of us were struggling to come up with potential supporting actor prenom predictions for GH and they now make up half the list. But I guess part of that was thinking that Steve Burton would submit his GH work in lead and his Y&R work in supporting, that James Patrick Stuart would more likely go lead, and that Wally Kurth might more likely be prenommed for DAYS, as he has been more often than not in the last few years. It’s a shame Christopher Sean didn’t make the list. His scenes surrounding and during Sonny and Paul’s wedding were some of my favorite work anyone did in 2017, and he handled the silliness of Paul getting Jungle Madness admirably. Still, it’s a good list overall.

The younger categories could also shape up to be interesting this year. My initial thought is that it would be nice to see Reign Edwards finally score a win in younger actress and Casey Moss should have younger actor locked down.

Congratulations to all the prenominees and a few of those who didn’t make it. I look forward to seeing what everyone submits! The nominations announcement (March 21) feels so far away!
