Digest has learned that soap vet Robin Mattson (ex-Janet, AMC et al) is heading back to Port Charles. The actress, who played the memorable role of Heather Webber from 1980-82 will return in late March/early April. Look for her arrival to impact Steven (Scott Reeves): After all, she’s his mom who sold him on the black market as a baby.February 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm #421424
YES YES YES!!! She is my #1 all-time favorite soap actress! Her eight-year tenure as Janet on AMC from 1994-2000 was stellar and I feel of all the actresses to ever step foot in Pine Valley, she is the #1 Emmy snub of all time (she was nom’d once for GH and three times for SB but never AMC). After her last GH return, she did small roles on ATWT (Cheri, Emily’s madam), B&B (Sugar, Sheila’s partner-in-crime) and most recently, DAYS (Lee, Hope’s cellmate). Of course when I got news of all those returns, I immediately hoped her returns would turn into a contract and then into an Emmy. I know daytime is dying, but I want this lady to finally get an Emmy on her mantle. She’s up there with Melody Thomas Scott, Katherine Kelly Lang, Deidre Hall, and Catherine Hickland in terms of daytime divas who still work yet have been unforuntately snubbed of Emmy gold (our C/Katherines don’t even have a nomination, partly because for years CH didn’t submit and KKL got prenom’d but DIDN’T submit the episode of Storm’s suicide). I’ll always be bitter at AMC for bringing back Kate Collins as Janet instead of Mattson. Given the storyline of how Mattson was integrated into the show in 1994, it made no sense for Collins to return. It completely wiped out the groundwork that had been set up for the character. Collins is brilliant (another great who never even scored a nomination), but she’s Natalie; the role of Janet will always belong to Mattson. Ranting over, I trust Frank and Ron to do justice to this return. The fact that they’re new on GH yet brinigng her back (surprising since OLTL, along with Y&R and PASSIONS, never had Mattson as a costar) shows how good they are at honoring their soap’s history. Now I get to put GH back into my DVR.

They are really going for it! And to think it was only just a dream to think that these ppl would ever be back on in a meaningful way?February 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm #421427
I LOVE Robin Mattson! and we can right her last GH return as a mistake, it made no sense for her to be involved in all the stuff with Luke and Laura. This return sounds like it could be REALLY GOOD! I LOVE when Mattson plays psychotic characters. As Morgan said her AMC stint was AMAZING and I agree she is long overdue for an Emmy Award.February 7, 2012 at 7:35 pm #421428
Don’t get too excited. I bet Ron will eventually kill her character off. He killed or rewrote the histories of many legacy characters on OLTL.February 8, 2012 at 12:43 am #421429

I hate to say it, but I was kind of thinking the same thing.
I love Robin Mattson, though, and I think this is great news. I just hope Ron’s not planning to have Heather on for a few weeks and then kill her.March 21, 2012 at 1:01 am #421431
Confirmed by Soaps in Depth: Robin’s first airdate as Heather is Friday, March 30!

I never miss award show and this is the most prestigious and entertaining award show ever.March 30, 2012 at 8:47 pm #421433
Gah. They just mentioned her at the end of today’s show, with Sam calling Dr. Weber and asking the wherabouts of his mom. I guess we won’t be graced with Ms. Mattson until Monday, April 2. Now lets give her some Emmy worthy material.
