She unfortunately has been very underused.July 6, 2020 at 7:54 pm #1203571355
I think there is much more going on behind the scenes at Days regarding money issues and trying to keep the show on the air – pay cuts and trimming the cast are in play and so there is suddenly a mass exodus of important characters/performers, and even Greg Meng too. I like Hope but she lost her supercouple partner when Peter Reckell left the show and was killed off (one of the few characters who has stayed dead!)July 6, 2020 at 8:14 pm #1203571383
I’m very curious as to the behind-the-scenes gossip of what happened. When the rumors that Days was being cancelled earlier this year were going around, she was the first to put up a video in her makeup chair on Instagram saying that is not happening. I haven’t really missed her lately when she hasn’t been on so I don’t know if this is that big of a loss. It’s also interesting that she is leaving during a pandemic when it hasn’t been easy for people to find jobs. I hope she has a rich husband.July 6, 2020 at 8:43 pm #1203571416
This caught be by surprise as well, and I’m pretty bummed about it. Hope has been written sparsely and/or poorly for years now. The last time they really seemed to make an effort was when she and Rafe were competing for commissioner and he slept with Sami. But the pairing with Rafe always seemed doomed, especially in comparison to the Hope/Aiden relationship, which really had it’s chances but was ruined by two or three turns of sabotage writing. Peter Reckell leaving the show never to return didn’t help, but the show itself did her no favors by using Peter’s brief return to ruin the relationship she was having (rather than add an interesting obstacle to it) and undermining Hope’s judgment with men, which happened over and over.
Anyway, yeah, I’m curious to know what happened, but after thinking and talking about it for the last couple of hours, it seems likely this was a money/contract issue after the show was finally renewed following their winter hiatus and all of the contracts, in theory, needed to be reestablished. And while I totally get the need to cut costs and lose cast members as a result, I think the powers that be are choosing poorly. But that’s the way it goes I guess.July 6, 2020 at 9:23 pm #1203571445
A rich husband? What is this 1944? I’m sure she has her OWN money 😒😒😒July 6, 2020 at 9:30 pm #1203571451
Yeah especially since she’s been on the show for almost as long as I’ve been alive, I imagine she’s pretty well set. Rich husband…July 6, 2020 at 10:26 pm #1203571483
Soap actors get paid very little. She probably has her own money and a nice pension and 401k, but I’m also sure she has a Hollywood lifestyle that she is accustomed to that isn’t cheap. And if there’s no money coming in how else will she make money other than having a rich husband? If you say by finding another acting job, good luck.July 7, 2020 at 5:41 am #1203571734
You think women can’t take care of themselves unless they are married? Maybe she invested her money wisely??July 7, 2020 at 8:26 am #1203571975
Soap actors don’t make a lot of money now, but she’s been in soaps since the popular stars were being very well paid, not to mention her primetime and film work. She also developed the jewelry line Hope Faith Miracles, which I believe she sold and likely made a pretty penny on. It seems like a lot of the soap actors have a side hustle now. The older ones with capital develop or invest in some kind of business, while the younger ones seem to take on a good amount of other acting jobs. She could also go the book writing route.
Besides that, Lifetime and Hallmark exist to employ former soap actresses. She’ll probably be playing Jen Lilley’s mom in a Christmas movie in no time.July 8, 2020 at 7:02 am #1203573527July 8, 2020 at 9:27 am #1203573785
I watched this Victoria Konefal rumor be born on Twitter yesterday, which felt weird. (I say rumor because it’s not officially confirmed, but it definitely seems true.)
But I wouldn’t put this in the category with some of the recent exits we’ve heard about and apparently others that may be coming, mostly because it should kind of be expected she’d be leaving around now. It’s been about three years she’s been on the show, and she’s a young actress who’s done well with this show and will likely want to seek out different opportunities.July 8, 2020 at 5:38 pm #1203575064
I’d love to see them bring back Lauren Boles as Ciara. I think she’s 17 now and they can find a love interest in her age range without mentioning Ciara’s actual age.July 8, 2020 at 6:47 pm #1203575147
Saddened by the news of Kristian Alfonso’s leaving. I wonder now if she had already taped her final scenes when she was a guest on the Soap Opera Digest podcast (such a great listen btw) last November; I find it insane how long some DAYS actors (as in Alfonso’s case, almost three-quarters of a year?) have to wait before finally being able to disclose to the world of their leaving.
I suspect more exits are on the horizon as DAYS enters the new production phase.

Already 17?! Crazy how time flies. It feels like yesterday that she was still gracing the screen as a sweet little girl!July 8, 2020 at 9:01 pm #1203577321
Oh man, the thought of Lauren Boles coming back as Ciara seems simultaneously thrilling and kind of nuts. I really miss her, though, and it still bugs me that they aged the character when they did.
I hadn’t thought about that, alokin, but it is crazy thinking how long some actors, especially DAYS actors, have to sit on the news of their exits before announcing it! I wonder to what degree there’s a protocol for it and how much the show can control. For example, Kristian Alfonso’s exit will likely be in the same vicinity of time as Chandler Massey’s and Freddie Smith’s, but they, I believe Freddie in particular, let the world know about it like five months ago.
The same people who were in the know about Victoria Konefal’s apparent exit have said that there are others to come, so I’m bracing myself.
