Tonya Lee Williams (Olivia, Y&R) and Sabryn Genet (Y&R) were both great actresses. I’d love to see Olivia come back to Y&R.December 20, 2017 at 5:28 pm #1202445583
Yes, between Hallmark and the Lifetime Movie Network, it’s really not hard to get your fix of current, recent departed, and older soap stars. If you’re not particular you can probably find a soap actor (mostly female but some males as well) in a movie any day of the week.
Interesting about the stars who then just blended into civilian life. Marcy Walker’s story is pretty well known, but I had no idea about the other three. Real estate and adjacent businesses do seem a popular haven for former soap stars. Kristen Alderson seems to love being in real estate, and Judi Evans has said she thoroughly enjoys her work selling burial plots when things are slow for her on the soaps.
And I believe Stuart Damon is also in the real estate industry as well.December 26, 2017 at 2:36 pm #1202449241
Emily Harper and James Stevenson showed great talent and really made the acting on passions better but neither worked after and Stevenson even got an emmy nomination. Harper and garing were really good together and their chemistry ended Luis and Sheridan! Heather Lindell who was Jan Spears recast was also great on DOOL.
One interesting story I read was the actor who played Coop on Guiding Light got a bad stalker or something and he retired and worked at Best Buy then entered the military?December 29, 2017 at 3:12 pm #1202451401
Yes, I absolutely loved Heather Lindell as Jan Spears, a character I’d previously despised. It would have been great to see her turn up somewhere, or for Jan to someday come out of that coma she’s been in!
The actor who played Coop on GL was the same guy who played Chance on Y&R right? I don’t know about a stalker or Best Buy, but he did enter the military and I believe is still serving currently.December 29, 2017 at 4:13 pm #1202451422
one of the really sad things is that there are only four soaps left so the opportunities to ‘soap hop’ are gone ): and even sadder is there are no east coast soaps anymore since people who were on New York soaps, if they stayed in NYC, could only soap hop or work on the stage. I lament the loss of opportunities.December 29, 2017 at 7:48 pm #1202451571
John Driscoll (Coop, GL; Chance, Y&R) went into the military. As far as I know, he’s still currently serving. I vaguely remember something about a stalker/obsessed fan. I think he had to get a restraining order. Not sure of the details of what actually happened.January 3, 2018 at 12:46 pm #1202454679
Although she has since returned to acting, Andrea Evans from “OLTL” famously left acting for many years after she was stalked and threatened by an obsessed fan.January 3, 2018 at 4:47 pm #1202454880
Doug Stevenson was a very popular actor on Search for Tomorrow in the late 1970s/early 80s. His primary co-stars were Marcia McCabe and Patsy Pease. This was also the era in which John Aniston appeared on Search for Tomorrow. Aniston and Pease were soon reunited on Days of our Lives. To the best of my knowledge, Stevenson never appeared on any other soaps.
Off-screen, he married Lisa Loring, who at the time was playing Margo’s younger sister Cricket on As the World Turns. They had a child together, but eventually divorced. There is very little information about him on the internet. He passed away in 2011 at age 56.January 3, 2018 at 5:08 pm #1202454896
Some ATWT performers who have disappeared: Lindsay Frost, Brian Starcher, Jennifer Ashe, Peter Boynton, Susan Marie Snyder, Andrew Kavovit, Scott De Freitas (husband of Maura West), Brian Bloom (the first younger actor Emmy winner), Melanie Smith (the best Emily imo), Tom Wiggin, Margaret Reed… what happy memories! Where are they now?
