    1. Bradford Anderson, GH – he plays an often “over-the-top” character and did it really well. His scenes with Maxie in the baby reveal storyline were stellar. It’s a close two-way race for me (see below). This is his fourth nomination in 5 years.

    2. Eric Martsolf, Days – glad a Days actor is nominated in the category, but he placed third for me (Greg Vaughan first, and Blake Berris second) – EM was in my top five though, so I am happy for him. He played the dumbest character on daytime last year and expertly! He got to share scenes with Eileen Davidson and Greg Vaughan and he has grown as an actor. This is his first nomination.

    3. Dominic Zamprogna, GH – not a big Dante fan. He did solid work during the Lulu’s missing story and the custody trial story. Just doesn’t excite me as an actor. This is his first nomination.

    4. Scott Clifton, B&B – part of the reason I am not so crazy about B&B is my total dislike for Liam (“The Waffler”) and his domination of the show the past several years (why is he in the supporting category?). I enjoyed his work on GH and OLTL, so it’s not the actor per se. Darin Brooks was much more deserving imo. He has been nominated for 3 soaps. I think this is his 6th nomination? He has won 2 Emmys.

    5. Steve Burton, Y&R – wtf? I find this actor quite wooden. He won way back for 1997 in this category. I think this is his 4th or 5th nomination? Less said the better… shocked by this nomination, snubbing Greg Vaughan and Blake Berris in the process…

No way in hell should EM be at the bottom of that list, not with his submission.

Despite what people want to believe about him from his PASSIONS and early days on DAYS….EM was a revelation last year on DAYS and had probably 4 outstanding episodes that could put him in contention for a win.

And this is coming from someone who would have never called this man even an adequate actor a few years ago.

    Rank:
    1.) Bradford Anderson (GH)
    2.) Eric Martsolf (DAYS)
    3.) Scott Clifton (B&B)
    4.) Dominic Zamprogna (GH)
    5.) Steve Burton (Y&R)

Yes, Scoop, but now he’s on Days and you love all Days actors and think they are all brilliant.  LOL.  I just don’t think he has a shot at winning.

It’s his fifth nomination in six years.

    2009 – Lost to Vincent Irizarry/AMC and Jeff Branson/GL.
    2010 – Lost to Billy Miller/Y&R.
    2012 – Lost to Jonathan Jackson/GH.
    2013 – Lost to Scott Clifton/B&B & Billy Miller/Y&R.
    2014 – —

If he loses, he’ll have the most acting losses for GH (0/5). Jacklyn Zeman is 0/4, and should Jason Thompson lose, he too will be 0/4. Nancy Lee Grahn was GH’s biggest loser (not counting her Santa Barbara win or her nom for hosting a SoapNet special) at 0/5 but  then she finally won in 2012 and became 1/6 for GH, 2/8 overall. Unfortunately, Anderson won’t get a chance to make the sixth time the charm, unless he returns to the show, of course.

Hope Martsolf wins since my favorite Berris wasn’t even nodded. Would go :

    1. Martsolf
    2. Anderson
    3. Clifton
    4. Zamprogna
5, Burton (If only one Y&R actor was going to be nominated, it should have been Rikkart, IMHO.)

No actually I don’t think he is brilliant just because he is on DAYS and I feel like I have been very subjective about actors on DAYS over the last few years.

Martsolf submitted a great episode and was amazing in 2013…that is why I think he should be no where near the bottom of any list.  Prior years on DAYS and when he was on PASSIONS, I would have never advocated for him winning anything for acting….but IMO there is no denying how improved he was in 2013 working alongside Eileen Davidson.

Looking at thier clips, I am reversing my order and placing Eric Martsolf in first place and Bradford  Anderson in a very close second place.

btw, I didn’t love Days very much at all for years and years. It improved greatly the past 3 years. There was a period of time when pretty much the only thing I liked about Days was Sami Brady (I disliked the writing by James Reilly). I have always been an east coast soap guy – my all time favorites were All My Children, Another World, As The World Turns, Guiding Light, One Life To Live, Ryan’s Hope – and lately I have watched The Edge Of Night on YouTube and have fallen totally in love with that show!

Freeman, USA Network used to play Edge of Night and Search for Tomorrow late at night when I was in middle/high school (late 1980s) and I fell deeply in love with Edge of Night.  I understand that the crime/mystery element wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but they kept you guessing.  I think the current state of daytime dramas are missing this factor.

As for the topic at hand, is there any way Bradford Anderson can lose again?  I know there’s A LOT of Days love around here, but if wooden pretty boy Martsolf wins over any of the other nominees, I will eat grass.  I don’t dislike Eric, but IMO it was Greg Vaughn who deserved the nomination.

But I digress.  I don’t know what everyone submitted, but I would think Anderson would come in first followed by Zamprogna, Burton, Clifton and then Martsolf.

Well, I’m convinced it’s between Anderson and Martsolf, and I’m predicting Martsolf. Scott Clifton’s reel isn’t known yet, to the best of my knowledge, but I just can’t imagine it being worthy of a third Emmy. I personally found Zamprogna’s reel mediocre – and certainly less worthy than Berris and Vaughan; Burton could ride the wave of love for Y&R, but I personally disliked his reel. (I think this is a case of my inability to understand why people think this a good actor, and not necessarily how the panelists feel about it. He does have “emmy bait” material: learning that the baby he thinks is his isn’t and saying goodbye to him). I’m just not sure that Spinnelli’s weirdness can ever garner enough supporters to put him in first place for an Emmy? I think Anderson and Martsolf have equally terrific reels. We will know in June!

You may be right about Spinelli’s “weird” factor, but it has gotten him nominated multiple times.  Next to Billy Miller and Jason Thompson, I think Anderson gave one of the most heartfelt performances of the year when he learned he was the father of Maxie’s baby.

I look forward to seeing that reel.  I thought Anderson should have been the clear winner last year, after a few nominations where he just felt like comic relief/weird fluff, so it felt like a real slap when not only did he lose, but he lost to two people.  That definitely felt like a case category where Y&R got a boost.  Otherwise, I don’t even see how Jeff Branson got nominated with that reel, though Anderson was the only one of the nominees who hasn’t been on multiple shows.  I’d be very happy for him to win this year, or for Martsolf.

I don’t disagree that Martsolf is the least deserving to be nominated between Berris & Vaughn…but Martsolf’s reel was literally his best work of his career and now that I have seen his reel I FULLY understand his nomination and understand why Vaughn did not make it in with his.

I would have nominated all 3 of them – they were all more deserving than STeve Burton, Scott Clifton and Dominic Zamprogna imo. Blake Berris’ reel was the best of the 3 imo; in fact the best of all of them. Greg Vaughan’s reel was still really good it was just that there were at least a dozen different episodes that were even better imo.

Scott Clifton’s reel is the only one I don’t know what he submitted…
