    Methinks it would be nice for the miniseries to have it’s own thread!

    Michael Fairman has posted a video preview of the second season – it looks to be a whole lot of fun! So nice to see Hope (finally!) and super nice to see Paul (Christopher Sean) too!

    Loretta Devine looks to be an intriguing character.

    I don’t remember Harris, the villain that Steve Burton played in 1989, his first ever soap role – looks to be interesting!

    The miniseries will be airing in July on Peacock!

    The preview does look like a lot of fun! It’s really wonderful to see Hope again, and I love that Ciara is asking her where the hell she’s been for the last two years. I’m also very excited to catch up with Paul, and all these new/recast Brady kiddoes with us getting Andrew Donavan as well as Joey and Stephanie. The premiere is less than two weeks away, so it’ll be here before we know it.

    Season 2 begins on Monday.

    Steve Burton hints that his character does “bad things”! (;

    Well, Christmas in July is officially upon us! So stoked about the returns of Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell (it still feels surreal that this is even happening!) along with, of course, our beloved Queen Eileen, Christopher Sean (whose SOD podcast interview last week was a captivating listen) and what will likely be this chapter of Beyond Salem‘s biggest ace up its sleeve, Steve Burton!

    Am I the only one who doesn’t get Hope’s reason for not showing up in Salem the past two years? Maybe there will be more of an explanation before the week is over.

    The pride stuff was interesting and Colton Little as Andrew Donovan looks to be interesting too. Great to see Paul again!

    Is this all happening at different times? How is the officer showing up at different places around the world at the same time?

    I know that Megan Hathaway is Stefano’s daughter but what is her back story? I don’t remember her at all.

    So far I am not liking this season as much as I liked last season but let’s see how the other four episodes unfold…

    I really enjoyed the first episode! As with the first season, there are some design elements and edits that are humorously cheesy (the lighting in that Heaven set is kind of insane), but it’s a lot of fun. John dancing at Paul’s Pride party was a real hoot.

    It was my assumption that the reasoning Hope gave Ciara for not showing up the last two years was just a cover for what Hope has really been up to, which involves working with the ISA. It’s clearly dangerous, and I am sure that’s why Hope was kind of trying to get rid of Ciara and Ben. I’m also assuming that Harris Michaels (Steve Burton’s character) has access to a private plane or something similar to get from San Francisco to Seattle between afternoon and evening and then to Montreal the following morning.

    I don’t remember much about Megan Hathaway, but it’s my understanding that she was trying to kill Hope because she wanted Bo. It’s fun that they resurrected this mostly forgotten character from the mid-80s.

    It was really great to see Paul and I loved that whole party scene. Seeing Hope on screen again and seeing her with Ciara and her grandson was an absolute joy (and that baby is so so cute, although huge, haha). I loved the Bo & Hope-centric opening for this season. The Johnsons family all being together was nice, and the actress they’ve cast as Stephanie looks and sounds so much like Shelly Hennig it’s amazing. The ending with Harris showing up at Hope’s door and them making out had my jaw on the floor. Overall I had a great time with it and I’m super excited to see the rest of the episodes.

    With both Days and GH preempted today at least we had this weird melange of a second episode! There was a GREAT DEAL of exposition!

    I will admit the Thomas Banks reveal was great. But Wendy Shin? Really? Geesh. There was much that just didn’t work and this prism thing, and Hope’s sudden engagement – o.k., I think she is investigating him and is on to his shennanigans but still… and poor Bo, up where he is looking down on all this! (;

    It’s obvious to me why I preferred the first season: Will, Sonny, Leo and Chad were great in it! And the return of Will and Sonny was something I was aching for at the time! The humor, particularly the references to TRHOBH, were a great deal of fun too. This one is more standard Days, particularly from years ago in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

    Resurrecting long forgotten dead characters is a thing that Re-Ron does…that I absolutely hate.

    And Steve Burton being on Days is not something any fan asked for, especially with the way he departed GH. Harris Michaels is basically Jason 2.0.

    Although Eileen is playing Thomas Banks at first she seemed to be Kristen and I was realizing that it is Stacey Haiduk’s version of Kristen that I can’t stand and I actually love Eileen’s version of Kristen. Those scenes were fun. (btw I love them both as Susan).

    I got a kick out of John and Steve being in Caracas, Venezuela because my boyfriend is from Caracas, Venezuela! He’s not a soap guy but he got a kick out of it too!

    It was the only soap I got to watch yesterday due the endless hearings preemptions ): Hoping there will be no hearings interrupting my shows today!

    Lastly: I don’t think the actors ought to be eligible for lead or supporting but only for guest performer – 5 or less than 5 episodes is too little to compete with performers who are on say 70-100 episodes a year. jmho.

    I will say this installment also feels a lot messier than the first one, but I’m definitely enjoying it. The big draw of this season was the return of Bo and Hope, where the first season didn’t have anything on the same scale (glad as I was to see Will, Sonny, Leo, Carrie and Austin). And while I’m not as bothered by Steve Burton as almost anyone else seems to be, involving him always seemed like a bad idea. No DAYS fans were super eager to get him on their screens, and I doubt any GH fans were going to tune into a DAYS spinoff just to see him.

    Eileen playing Thomas is WILD. I never thought we’d see him again, but I love the thematic continuity of Kristen impersonating Mary Moira in Season 1 and now Thomas impersonating Kristen in Season 2. Josh Taylor showing up as Chris Kositcek was also wild, but I’d seen that on Twitter, so I wasn’t as shocked. I liked Andrew and Paul as well as Wendy Shin with Joey and Tripp, though it would have been nice to see Kimberly. It feels like they should get more of these legacy kids on the main show, as especially after the recent exits, there aren’t enough younger people around.

    The prisms thing is incredibly silly, but so were all of these stories in the 80s, so I’m here for it.

    Freeman, are you watching Beyond Salem on Peacock? If so, you should be able to see yesterday’s episode of DAYS there. Even when the broadcast show is interrupted for news reasons, the day’s episode of DAYS pretty much always shows up on Peacock anyway.

    Don’t read further if you haven’t seen today’s episode.

    O.K., so hope is dead? “dead dead” or Days dead? Will Bo return her to life like he did with Tripp? Tune in tomorrow – (was this all to kill off Hope? Maybe that’s the killing Ron C. meant, but this isn’t Days).

    O.K., Megan is at least fun in her evil ways and the actress is good.

    The chemistry between Paul and Andrew is through the roof.

    Some of the scenes were repetitive and annoying.

    The whole prism thing is 1980’s/90’s Days redux.

    How come Eileen/Kristen is so gorgeous/younger looking and Thomas is so old/ugly??? (;

    Only two more episodes left….

    LOL, it does seem like if a few quick disguise tactics could make Thomas look like Eileen Davidson, he can probably look better than he does without much effort.

    I’m not willing to buy that Hope is any kind of dead just yet. This could be a ruse that she planned with Ben and Ciara (maybe she didn’t actually notice sniper Thomas, but was doing that for effect?). Also, considering how many actual doctor’s on this show has pronounced people dead when they weren’t, I’m definitely not just taking Ben’s word for it.

    Watching yesterday’s episode, I was thinking how incredible it is that DAYS introduced a whole new family in the Bradys and all four of the siblings had incredibly popular supercouple pairings — Roman and Marlena, Bo and Hope, Kayla and Steve, and Kimberly and Shane. It would be cool to have more of the cousin generation from these characters interacting more often — Sami, Eric, Shawn and Ciara don’t have much interaction with Stephanie, Joey, Theresa and Andrew, though I guess it’s cool that between DAYS and Beyond Salem, seven of the eight of them are on screen currently.

    Megan Hathaway is fun, and it would be cool to get her on the main show. I really wouldn’t mind if DAYS had a consistent and unabashed villain with a deranged long-term plan the way Stefano was.
