Mason being involved in Nikolas disappearing makes sense, but I wasn’t expecting it. I thought Nikolas would just be gone, and we wouldn’t find out anything for a while. It still feels absurd that Austin watched Ava lock Nikolas in that tack room closet and didn’t say, “Wait, let me make sure he’s really dead . . .” I’m also shocked that, unless I missed it, the police didn’t ask Austin why he checked himself out of the hospital to rush to Wyndemere. That seemed so suspicious, especially after he was there the night before with no explanation. But I’m glad they’ve told us as much as they have, even if some of this logic is not connecting. Dante says they’re sure Nikolas didn’t go somewhere else before fleeing town because Wyndemere is his last known location, but they have no idea where Nikolas went after presumably leaving Wyndemere or where he is now, so how could they know he didn’t go to the art gallery or the Metro Court of Elizabeth’s house or anywhere else?
The writing is also stretching itself to the point of breaking to try to make it make any sense that Liesl is now blaming Elizabeth for Britt’s death, which it simply does not. I’m very glad that Liesl is a match for Willow, though either no one will bring up or they’ll act like it doesn’t matter that Liesl would have been test months ago if they’d known that Nina was Willow’s mother and was in need of a bone marrow transplant. It stinks that they didn’t show us Nina actually telling Michael the news, just him not wanting to take her call and then cut to him, Carly and Joss being happy about it. Is it so unimaginable that Nina would be somehow helpful that they can’t even compose a scene to show it happening? But I do also wonder what will happen now. With the wedding being planned and Willow almost dead but not almost dead enough, it seems like there must be another hurdle or two to clear in this story.
This Joss/Dex/Sonny triangle is really heating up! LOL. I do like Joss and Dex as a pair, but honestly, has Dex ever looked happier than this impromptu dinner date with Sonny? I don’t think he’s ever cooked Joss anything. I can’t tell if the whole thing was Dex just trying to get in good with Sonny to get more info on the Pikeman deal, Dex hedging his bets in case he decides to keep working for Sonny rather than turning him in, or just genuine bonding.
I know some people want more of a rivalry, but I like that Jordan and Portia are friendly, and I really liked their conversation in the aftermath of the wedding debacle. I thought Portia spend at least half a scene blaming Jordan, but I guess Curtis did enough of that.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2023 at 9:23 am #1205330498I was out yesterday and when I came home and read the synopsis of yesterday’s GH episode I decided not to bother even watching it. It was all the storylines I don’t care about all on the same episode! Here’s hoping we get a strong Friday cliffhanger episode!
ReplyCopy URLMarch 6, 2023 at 9:31 am #1205334714Yes, they did a shift for Thursday/Friday into a lot of storylines that aren’t that thrilling or interesting. For example, I don’t know what level of investment they think the audience could possibly have in Chase and Brook Lynn’s future as a couple. They’ve also stretched out whatever is happening with Gregory further than they should. I care about why he’s going to the hospital and not working at the university about as much as I care what color underwear he has on. (I would be shocked if they were any color other than white.) The possibility of Molly being pregnant seems like a non-story. She’s never on anyway.
Of course, I am interested in seeing Victor be taken down. He’s a good villain, but I am having a harder and harder time with scenes where Spencer is treating Victor like a good and caring relative with no real concept of all he’s done. The Anna/Eileen/Felicia scenes were pretty good, but this plan doesn’t fill me with confidence. I thought they kind of fumbled by now revealing everything to Eileen and forcing her to work with them. It feels like Anna and Valentin are spending too much time pretending to be dead, and they should have had a better plan for capitalizing on the situation more quickly.
But I’m looking forward to seeing what happens this week with some of the other storylines. Remember when Dex told Sonny about being with Joss the night Britt was murdered, and Sonny was suspicious and had someone keeping an eye on Dex? Has that person not yet seen Joss hanging out at Dex’s apartment, which she does a lot?
ReplyCopy URLMarch 6, 2023 at 12:26 pm #1205335013I am confused: is Diane Spencer’s lawyer or Esme’s lawyer? I thought Martin was Esme’s lawyer?
ReplyCopy URLMarch 6, 2023 at 2:53 pm #1205335209Diane is Spencer’s lawyer but as his attorney of record she would have been informed first of the change in plans.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 7, 2023 at 9:09 am #1205335996I’ve been a fan of amnesiac Esme, but she named the baby Ace and now is trying to take him to prison with her. Only one strike left . . .
ReplyCopy URLMarch 7, 2023 at 10:56 am #1205336270I’ve been a fan of amnesiac Esme, but she named the baby Ace and now is trying to take him to prison with her. Only one strike left . . .
This made me laugh! (: (: (:
Seems to me if she isn’t faking it she would want grandma Laura to take care of the baby while she sorts out her legal woes. I just wonder if she is faking it? I still think it would be a truly great twist if Esme was the original hook killer and mama Heather took over the killings for her! Oh well, doesn’t seem likely they will do it.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 7, 2023 at 1:12 pm #1205336541I was so hoping the police would break in on Drew and Carly and arrest them for insider trading! (; ha ha ha!
Willow saying to not bring up the kids – oh brother! And she needs to never ever say “all the horrible things Nina has done” ever again, thank you very much. Just be grateful that you have a mother and one that didn’t lie to you your whole life about who you belong to. It’s time for forgiveness.
Who was Mason talking to on the phone the other day? Is Victor faking not knowing where Nikolas is or not? Hey GH, I will continue to watch the show regardless so stop keeping everything a secret for way too long, o.k.?
Olivia and Nina seem a much more natural fit for friendship than Olivia and Carly. Nina is a much better friend than Carly is.
The friendship scenes today were really nice. It was a low-key episode and a nice one.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 8, 2023 at 8:49 am #1205338259There’s been a bit of shift in Esme after the ordeal with Ryan and Heather, once she got back to the hospital and started calling the baby Ace. Not only did she remember that tidbit, but she also has become much more aggressive in her dealings with people, though of course that could just be the natural result of now being a mother and everything she’s endured. I wouldn’t be shocked if she’s been faking since that time, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. While I think it’s obviously a terrible idea for a baby to be in any prison, let alone the same one that was very recently home to two serial killers and who knows what else, I can empathize with Esme having realized that a number of people she thought she might be able to trust were not what they seemed — Heather is a murderer and a lunatic; Nikolas had held her prisoner and was trying to take her baby; Elizabeth helped Nikolas; Spencer also just wants to take the baby away from her. We can trust Laura’s good intentions, but I get why Esme might not.
LOL at the idea of the police or Feds busting in to arrest Drew and Carly for insider trading! Drew makes a good point, that if they intend to continue dating in perpetuity, they are better off just admitting their relationship rather than potentially getting caught and making people wonder why they were hiding. This whole story thread still feels very silly, though. A toddler could connect the dots between Drew and Carly, even without knowing about a romantic relationship between them, so the idea that this secrecy is helping doesn’t make sense to me.
The show goes so far out of its way to make Olivia super loyal to Carly for no reason. When it came out that Carly didn’t tell Willow or Nina for six months that she knew they were daughter and mother, six months during which Liesl could have gotten tested and possibly provided a sooner marrow match, not that anyone is going to mention that now, it was a perfect opportunity for the show to do something interesting and have Olivia start to understand Nina a little. They make Olivia all about family, and Carly is a family-buster who has now twice not told Nina about a daughter, one who she was actively searching for and one with whom she already had an existing relationship.
I don’t consider myself to be super protective of Nina as a character. I like her, but I recognize that she’s a bit of the loose cannon, and the writers can hardly resist taking opportunities to make her overbearing or a little unhinged. But Willow saying asking about the kids was off limits just infuriated me. She could have just said the kids are doing fine, but I think it’s best we not talk about them. And yes, the repeated rhetoric of “all the horrible things Nina has done to our family” and so on is just bizarre. The worst thing they think Nina did was taking them to court to get visitation rights to Wiley, which obviously she only did because they were already not letting her see him. The Nina/Willow animosity would be so so much better if they had just let it continue to grow from the teacher stuff instead of having them make peace and get to the point of getting along, only for tensions to reignite essentially because Willow was threatened by Nina having a biological connection to Wiley that she didn’t (or so she thought). Frustrating. Let me also say how irritating it was that Michael and Willow needled Liesl until she said that she would like for Willow to keep in mind the possibility of a relationship with Nina. It really feels insane that this is so hard to Willow. I think I can understand Michael a little more. He’s actively trying to take down Sonny (and his grudge is more or less that Sonny changed too much while he was in Nixon Falls having amnesia), so getting closer to Nina or feeling any more warmly about her would only complicate matters.
I assumed that Mason was talking to his mysterious boss about Nikolas, to whoever it is that keeps wanting Austin to do shady stuff.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 9, 2023 at 11:50 am #1205340187I have been wishing for Selina to show up and here she is today! I wonder if she is the one who was on the phone with Mason?
Is Cody going to tell Sasha about Gladys or not?
Loved Ava and Trina’s conversation – just wish Ava was as sensible in her own life! Maura is always great with younger performers and has been in all of her roles.
Love the friendship between Nina and Curtis.
One thing about yesterday’s show: is William Lipton leaving the show?
The show is in a transition period right now after the ending of the hook killer storyline. I hope they can wrap these stories up and come up with some other stronger ones to unfold later in the year.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 13, 2023 at 7:55 am #1205350355Dex made Sonny chicken piccata, while Josslyn gets a grilled cheese. Dex throws himself over Sonny to protect him from getting sniped on the pier, but barely gets a shot off at the Hook when she is attacking Josslyn on the pier. Makes you wonder . . . LOL.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 14, 2023 at 7:27 am #1205351736I missed yesterday’s episode. Interesting that Cody tells Dante the truth but not Mac. It was a mean thing for Cody to do but I am sure Mac will forgive him.
Here’s hoping they can create some big umbrella stories to replace the ones that have wound down.
Looking forward to Jane Elliot’s return as Tracy – I have read that it will be a longer stint this time, I hope so!
I wish we knew who has submitted from GH for Emmy consideration and in which category? It would also be fun to know what episodes they submitted for Series, Directing and Writing! The only ‘standalone’ episode I recall was the one about Laura’s mayoral crisis, which was very good and would be a terrific submission for Genie Francis, particularly her scene with Jeff Kober’s Cyril Renault. Frank Valentini LOVES standalone episodes for submissions but I don’t think they are always the best possible showcase as the best that GH has to offer all the time.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 14, 2023 at 9:48 am #1205351926Yesterday’s episode was kind of interesting. The scenes where Cody shows Dante the DNA results proving that Mac is his father were better than most Cody scenes. You could really see how terrible Cody felt about having lied to such a good guy about not being his son. I’m glad there’s another person involved, and I am as sure that Dante will encourage Cody to tell the truth as I am that Cody will not do that, at least not particularly soon. It was also good to see the scenes with Kevin, Felicia and Mac unpacking their feelings about Ryan’s death and Mac and Kevin putting to rest any uncertainty between them as a result of what happened.
The Carly/Elizabeth scenes were pretty good. As I’ve said in the past, I do not like Carly and Elizabeth being chummy, but this interaction was prickly enough, and a little comical with how nosy and intrusive Carly is, that it worked for me. I also laughed when Carly pulled out that picture of Jeff and Carolyn that she’s rescued when Elizabeth was burning all the pictures of her parents. Firstly, as Elizabeth said, taking the picture was, indeed, a violation. Also, Carly is just carrying this picture around waiting for the moment when Elizabeth will say that she kind of isn’t furious with her parents anymore? Funniest of all, it’s not like the picture she rescued was from a family vacation or a treasured memory from decades ago. It’s a picture of Jeff and Carolyn that looks like it was taken last week. She could just get another one of those. But okay.
Then you had Nina and Ava deciding that calling the SEC on Carly (and Drew) was probably not the right thing to do, Drew attempting to buy Valentin’s ELQ stock from Laura, and the shootout at the docks. It seems unlikely that this Dex/Sonny thing will end without Dex becoming much more conflicted about wanting to take Sonny down because he starts to more affection/loyalty to Sonny, and Sonny having already been in a safe spot and coming back to shoot the sniper in order to save Dex will probably go a long way toward that.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 14, 2023 at 11:59 am #1205352085I just love Nina so much! (:
Interesting point, Michael, about Dex – I have been thinking that Dex has some other reason for wanting to take Sonny down that hasn’t been revealed yet. Of course it is reminiscent of Dante wanting to take him down only to learn that Sonny is his father. Please, no more children for Sonny! (;
Dante’s conversation with Cody was good, and Felicia feeling that Cody is family to them is a nice touch.
The fighting between Anna, Lucy and Valentin isn’t pleasant.
The powwow at the Q’s was fun. Team Nina one million percent!!!! She was making me laugh today in a really good way!
Looks like tomorrow will mostly be the neglected stories they trot out every week or so…
ReplyCopy URLMarch 16, 2023 at 9:18 am #1205354036Is William Lipton leaving the show? It sure seems that way but I haven’t found anything saying it online. If so he will be missed; he has been fantastic as Cam – I think he has been on the show for five years?
