Mostly enjoying GH – looks like Neil was murdered? Just wish they wouldn’t bring Julexis back together. It’s the only show I am feeling good about at the moment. NLG is great as usual in her scenes. Maura was terrific yesterday too. What happened to Dev???

Dev had a play date with Judy Winslow.

HA! It is starting to seem like one day they’ll just stop talking about Dev and never mention him again. I know he’s the weakest of the four teen characters, but I still like him a lot.

I’m a little over a week behind, but I was SHOCKED that they killed Neil! Man this show is mean to Alexis.

I continue to be astounded at what GH is able to accomplish, even under COVID restrictions. Outside of cutting away from the Michael/Willow kiss (and honestly, I have maybe never needed to see two characters kiss less than I did with these two), things seem very much business as usual with what’s on screen.

I can barely handle this today but … that was a King James (aka Protestant) Bible the Catholic priest pulled out.

    Today’s episode was powerful!
As someone who lost a grandparent to Alzheimer’s Disease, I cannot help but commend the producing team on the accuracies of a patient in their final hours.

Would make a great submission for Drama Series & Writing!

Finished reading Maurice Benard’s autobiography, which was interesting esp. about his bipolar issues. But I still don’t like him as an actor, still can’t stand Sonny as a character – I find that he is best at solo arias but often steps on co-stars lines and his character is so obnoxious and positioned in such a bizzare way on the show that it brings the show down. I miss the days when soaps were about the female characters, not about villainous males who get all the love and attention while doing despicable actions. His wife has sure put up with a lot of garbage from him. I wish Sonny never existed and was upset to learn that he suggested the awful switch from Jason Quartermaine to Jason Morgan – ugh!!!

I haven’t been impressed with the show the past several episodes. I guess mine is a minority opinion.

Gotta disagree; I feel it’s the strongest of the 4 right now.

I’m still a few episodes behind, just getting into what feels like it will be Mike’s final episodes, but I have to say GH does feel like full tilt soap right now in a great way. There’s a lot happening on different fronts, and so much connection, different ripple effects. It’s become quite intricate the way some things are fitting together. I’m really enjoying it. I will confess that I feel the story with Mike has dragged on too long, despite the strong execution. Part of it may be that, unlike most impending soap deaths, there’s no route through which Mike could get a miracle cure or an 11th hour reprieve. It’s a rare case of knowing how the story will end. (Even last year with Oscar, it wasn’t until very, very close to his death that I truly felt like it would really happen.) So this feels like delaying the inevitable rather than allowing time to find a solution. The other problem has been with the pacing. Some of that is due to the pandemic and the resulting break in filming, but also there were a lot of signs that felt like there were indicating that the end was imminent, but then it wasn’t. This may be realistic, but as entertainment, it feels like a schlog. It’s also kind of irritating seeing Sonny centralized the way this story does, especially since in other parts of the show, his ineffectiveness regarding Cyrus is wreaking havoc on the lives of decent people. It would actually be kind of fun if the people Cyrus was menacing were all the people who consistently enable Sonny and treat him like the king of Port Charles, but that’s not the case. All that notwithstanding, I think the show has generally been great, the strongest of the ones I’m watching. DAYS has been good as well for the most part, while B&B didn’t capture my attention when they returned from hiatus, and I’m willing to believe that Y&R is as boring as I keep hearing it is.

FINALLY caught up through the latest episode! Quite an ending on Friday! The stuff with Robert and Olivia has been a fun counterbalance to Mike’s death. It’s nice getting to see Molly and TJ, two characters who are quite underutilized, getting some stuff to do, and great to see Olivia, one of my favorite characters on the show, doing something other than being in scenes with Ned or fretting over Dante.

I’ve been noticing how extremely well directed the episodes have been lately. Even with the few characters and stories I don’t care so much about it’s really been seamless as far as the directing is concerned.

Nancy Lee Grahn continues to shine. I am also glad that Molly is on more often but where is Kristina???

I continue to miss Brad and Lucas ):

Love that Ava is getting attention from men!!!! It was strange though to see Ava and Nina’s friendship (btw, where is Ava’s friend Laura these days?) considering what Nina did to Ava in the past!!!!

I really like Brando and enjoyed all of his scenes the past few days, esp. with Dev (his “son”, ha ha ha). Still think Molly will be preggers with Brando’s baby!

The show is the only one I am really truly enjoying right now.

They’ve been doing a great job. I like that some characters that were underdeveloped are getting a little more focus, and some people are getting more screen time. It was great to see the scenes between Dev and Brando the other day. They’ve never really shown us what that fake father-son relationship was like, so I appreciated that. It was also helpful in terms of clarifying that Dev does have feelings for Josslyn. I feel like after she kissed him on New Year’s Eve and he shut it down, they’ve been mysterious about whether there’s something more going on there. It was also cool seeing Brando with Maxie. I’m a fan of anything that seems like an alternative to Peter for Maxie, and I thought the chemistry between them was good. But Brando plays pretty well with anyone he’s in scenes with generally, so hopefully they’ll start doing more with him.

So Dev likes Josslyn, Joss like Cam, Cam likes Trina but also kinda likes Joss, and Trina likes Cam but doesn’t want to interfere with Joss liking Cam. Cute! Looking forward to seeing all that play out.

The fact that Lucas has not made an appearance yet even with Britt becoming chief of staff at the hospital and his mother being fired by Cyrus makes me think they’re just dropping the character for now and not mentioning it. Kind of sad that the married gay couples on both GH and DAYS have been dropped. GH still has Kristina, but she also hasn’t been on in quite some time. And again, with Neil’s death and Alexis’s osteoporosis diagnosis, not to mention her most recent potential love interest Valerie having made a few appearances, the fact that we haven’t seen Kristina makes it seem like the show has no plans for her at all.

It’s my understanding that Genie Francis hasn’t yet felt comfortable returning to filming, which is why Laura’s been in DC for this extended period of time.

The Ava/Nina friendship still feels kind of weird, but I don’t think I could buy it if Michelle Stafford were still playing Nina. With Cynthia Watros, it works on screen at least. Since Watros’s Nina seems so different from Stafford’s, the show might as well take advantage of it.

Yowzers, what a great ending! Scotty, Franco and Liz – soaps hardly ever surprise me but that ending sure did!

    GH is refreshing post-pandemic comeback!
In a matter of 9 weeks; more has happened on GH than B&B/Y&R and DAYS combined…they really are stepping it up!
