Laura Wright should not be the lead on a show when you have Maura West on your canvas. Fans want to see less of insufferable Carly and the show has her minding everyone else’s business and showing her every day. It’s exhausting.March 25, 2021 at 1:15 pm #1204157938
^I agree 100%!!!!March 31, 2021 at 5:17 am #1204167281
Yesterday I realized how much I am not enjoying Cyrus and Peter still being on the canvas – for me it is time for both of them to go! They have past their expiration date as viable characters as far as I am concerned. Having to put up with the unholy trinity – Sonny, Jason and Carly – is suffering enough for this viewer!
The show has gone through a bit of a letdown from the double wedding drama – there was a lack of satisfactory conclusions from it for me. I also miss Franco and Franco and Liz were pretty much my favorite rootable couple on the show.
I hope the show heads in some new exciting directions soon – perhaps a strong new villainess???March 31, 2021 at 5:44 am #1204167307
GH is in kind of a weird position. The show is still very competently written and put together, and it certainly seems like they’re paying attention to what they’re writing. But they seem pretty misguided at this point about who they should be featuring and how much mileage they can get for it. It’s a three-headed problem right now of Peter, Cyrus and Carly. Carly’s a person who will obviously be around for the long term, but she’s on every day and her default mode as a character is to be belligerent to anyone who isn’t Jason or someone who is following her every instruction. Look at the conversation with Anna yesterday. Instead of feeling like a fun team-up, Carly came over blaming Anna and insulting her ideas. Very annoying. The Peter situation is so so ridiculous, especially since he’s now not even being smart about his crimes. His behavior about Franco’s murder makes it so obvious that he’s the killer. I don’t think the police have even questioned him. They’re so busy worrying about Cyrus they’re not even trying. Cyrus is annoying, but he’s kind of the most tolerable of the three for me because his plans have been crashing and burning lately (the new drug at the hospital, every effort to find his mother).April 2, 2021 at 8:42 am #1204170795
I really liked that we got some scenes showing the tension between Jake and Cameron because of Cam thinking Jason killed Franco and Jake thinking his dad wouldn’t do that. I also loved the scenes with Jake and Jason at the jail, mostly because Jason’s kind of an unabashed bad father — unlike Sonny and Carly, he doesn’t pretend of be some great parent who should have ownership of every child he can — but it’s nice to see him having a sweet moment with his son.
Also, maybe this is me being biased, but it seems like a stretch that so many people have to be convinced that Peter, not Jason, is the one that killed Franco. Everyone knows now that Peter already tried to kill Franco before because of the Drew memories and that Franco was struggling with other Drew memories resurfacing and that Peter published an article about Franco’s tumor hoping someone would kill him and that Jason knew about the tumor for months and didn’t do anything, and now Peter is running around talking about convicting Jason in the court of public opinion. He’s not being subtle at all.April 5, 2021 at 1:56 pm #1204180372
Emmy nominee Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery, AMC) is joining the cast and Emmy winner Sean Blakemore is reprising his role as Shawn Butler. No word on who Mathison is playing or how long Blakemore’s return will last. Shawn is in Pentonville where Alexis and Jason are headed. I guess we’ll be getting Oz/OITNB GH style.April 6, 2021 at 8:27 am #1204181664
I didn’t watch a whole lot of AMC, so I’m not that familiar with Cameron Mathison’s acting, but I like him as a personality. It’ll be interesting to see what he’s doing, and maybe his arrival means one of the less desirable characters who’s been hanging around will be on their way out.
The Shawn return is interesting. Fans have been complaining for quite some time about him being in Pentonville for a crime he didn’t commit (not to mention one that plenty of people get away with regularly on soaps), so maybe GH has decided to right that wrong? I was imagining maybe Shawn gets out or has gotten out of Pentonville and Jason enlists him as the de facto head of the Corinthos organization while he waits for Carly to pester Anna, Valentin, etc. to clear his name. With everything happening with Jordan and her connection to Cyrus, tying him into that could have potential. Him just interacting with Jason and Alexis in the big house would be pretty disappointing.
Loved the reveal at the end of yesterday’s episode. It wasn’t a shock, but it was still fun. On the flip side, it’s kind of shocking to me the way this Michael/Willow thing continues to play out. As much as I find them to be both dull and sibling-like as a couple, if the show is going to put them together, I’d rather not be tortured by having it happen so slowly and at the expense of Sasha and Chase being heartbroken again because they think those relationships are back on track. Though Sasha is clearly much better with Brando than with Michael.April 7, 2021 at 9:19 am #1204183612
Question: if Sonny is supposed to have gone “legitimate” with his coffee business then why would they be meeting with the other mob crime families at all? If Jason is a “killer” then why is he seen as at all heroic by anyone? Why is Carly so shrill and annoying??? I call the three of them the unholy trinity of GH!
I didn’t care for Cameron Mathison’s bug-eyed acting on AMC. I actually think the casting director has done a fairly poor job of casting new roles the past year or so. jmo. I also never liked Sean Blakemore’s Shawn, so I can’t say I am looking forward to this.
I do wonder, however, where they will go with Alexis now? I worry with no Julexis for the writers to fall back on where they will go with the character or if they will get lazy and stop writing for her???
I think the packages being sent to Ava are from Spencer.
I have had this weird vague idea based on practically nothing that Ryan has switched places with Kevin again. Just a few places in Kevin’s dialogue that haven’t sounded right for him… (Perhaps it’s just poor writing though?)
Genie’s Laura seemed genuinely frightened yesterday – she jumped out of her skin! Still, I find Cyrus unthreatening and boring; I just plain don’t like the actor who is portraying Cyrus.
If the Emmy nominations ever come out I hope GH does really well in the acting categories. Do they have a specific date yet for when the nominations will be announced? And feels as though it ought to be soon???April 7, 2021 at 10:57 am #1204183908
Special Alexis episode tomorrow for NLG’s 25th anniversary.April 7, 2021 at 12:39 pm #1204184386
Today’s episode was exceptionally well directed – perhaps the reason I liked the episode so much was that there was no Sonny, Carly or Jason??? But even though it featured both Cyrus and Peter the episode zipped along and stories progressed nicely. Brook Lynn’s idiotic scene is so soapy! I always have to defer to soap logic!
Yes, tomorrow will be an Alexis episode, and I am so excited for it!!!!April 7, 2021 at 3:52 pm #1204184856
I’m bummed by Nikolas mentioning that Spencer is graduating soon which likely means that the rumor they’re recasting Spencer is true. Bechtel is such a force of nature it’s gonna be a tall order for anyone to take over that role…April 8, 2021 at 7:23 am #1204185948
It’s very hard to imagine anyone else playing Spencer, but it would be nice to see the character back on screen. Though how that happens now seems kind of weird. If Spencer is graduating soon, like this year, does he graduate from his fancy French boarding school and then go to Port Charles University? Maybe he goes to Cornell but it’s nearby?
I’m so glad to have Brook Lynn back. She’s such a hoot, and this storyline is fun even though it feels outlandish. I laughed out loud when Valentin was looking at Maxie’s sonogram with the information at the bottom ripped off. Who wouldn’t notice that?
At this point, Brando must be ready to quit this ruse with Cyrus, right? It’s becoming way more trouble than it’s worth. Everyone thinks Sonny is dead. He got shot by Jason. Cyrus is constantly insulting and threatening him. And now Brando is accidentally working against Jason and undermining Anna and Carly’s plan by telling Cyrus about Valentin cozying up to Gladys.
I’m also getting increasingly frustrated with Cyrus in that he’s just going around threatening more and more people to try to make someone find and return his mother. In the end, it doesn’t really bother me if Nikolas undermines Carly and Jason in this whole thing with Florence, but it seems like Nikolas should have told Cyrus to pound sand and that the last thing he wants is to add the Cassadines to his list of enemies. Jason is IN Pentonville and I’m sure will make sure Alexis is taken care of. Then again, so far Cyrus has agreed to protect Alexis for potentially nothing depending on what Nikolas does.April 8, 2021 at 9:28 am #1204186182
I laughed at the ripped sonogram too. But it’s nice that they’re making some of the men situationally stupid instead of it JUST being the women (Maybe he’s been hanging around Anna and Lulu, Queens of dum dums when the script needs them to be too much). There wasn’t scissors in the exam room? In her purse? Something? Also Britt not being like “dude I just saw this sonogram and it’s my niece. What’s your game?”April 8, 2021 at 1:24 pm #1204186828
I wonder why Diane wasn’t on today’s episode? She was missed – and interesting too that I don’t recall any scenes of Julian? NLG was amazing!!! Loved the flash forwards and backwards throughout the episode too!April 8, 2021 at 2:40 pm #1204187018
I think for the flashback clips they were trying to focus on more positive moments for the character (cancer notwithstanding) and not the ones that she had to work out in therapy. You notice they also didn’t include Sonny or Rick?
