I used to really like Willow quite a bit but ever since she has been paired with Michael she has become irksome as a character and the actress has been unable to be as effective as she once was. ):
Looking forward to getting back to GH today! Weekends are tough when the show is SO incredibly good!!!!June 7, 2021 at 12:20 pm #1204290371
another great episode!!!! So many wonderful performances – Vernee Watson, Briana Henry, Brook Kerr, Sydney Mikayla, Genie Francis, Kirsten Storms, Ingo Radamacher, Cynthia Watros, Amanda Setton, James Patrick Stuart, Lisa LoCicero, Wally Kurth… the writing, producing, directing and acting are all so good right now!
Minor complaints: Willow and Michael; and Carly’s self-righteousness.
Question: if they are searching the woods for Maxie’s baby, won’t they find fake Chloe??? Where is the real Chloe’s body??? There are some soap (il)logic holes in the story but that’s how soaps are these days!June 7, 2021 at 3:46 pm #1204290730
IIRC, it was implied real Chloe ended up in a dumpster? But yeah, if they find fake Chloe’s corpse they can just assume Peter did it and has the baby.June 8, 2021 at 8:57 am #1204291545
Yes, Peter put real Chloe in a dumpster. They probably would blame Peter if they found fake Chloe’s body, but they could also just figure someone else took the baby, at which point they’d really be at a loss in terms of where to search. I don’t know how likely they are to find fake Chloe, but I guess Austin might.
I don’t love the way the show is writing Dante in relation to Maxie — like it’s irksome that he’s in “just doing my job” mode with her instead of being a friend, which seems mostly in service of the dynamic they’re trying to build with Dante and Sam, who is annoying even when she’s being helpful at this point. I mean, if she’d just let Dante kill Peter a few months ago, Maxie would have her baby and Chase wouldn’t be dying.
All of the scenes with Curtis’s friends and family were very nice. I wonder if someone will tell Nina that Curtis was shot. Cynthia Watros hasn’t had that many scenes with Donnell Turner, so the friendship doesn’t resonate quite as much as when Michelle Stafford was Nina, but it felt a little like she was missing from those scenes.
I wonder how the Nina and Mike stuff will play out from here. They seem to have basically resolved the plot they had been building since Mike got to Nixon Falls, and there seems to be nothing left other than Mike and Nina. Sonny’s been gone from Port Charles for six months, and Nina’s been away for quite a few months as well (although Carly hilariously is acting like that incident with Wiley happened two days ago). It feels like things with Nina and Mike need to advance further before he could get his memories back or the two of them could be merged back into Port Charles in a way that takes advantage of the potential drama here, but it also feels like the two of them are moving at a snail’s pace and it’ll take too long to get there. I do hope they move Jax out of the story with Nina and just have him doing something else. Him conspiring with Carly to keep Nina from learning Nelle was her daughter and not even considering that she had a grandchild is unforgivable, not in terms of being overly malicious or evil, but in the depth of its thoughtlessness.
I was also rolling my eyes at Ned and his speech about getting ELQ back not being worth having Valentin in their and the baby’s lives. It just reminded me that Ned’s asinine jealousy and animosity toward Valentin is what helped push Alexis off the wagon in the first place and of course ended with Ned and Alexis sleeping together. It also felt like a fairly empty grand gesture to try to get back in Olivia’s good graces. Valentin’s already living at the house and taking care of the baby. His suggestion is to, what, not acknowledge the person they think is the baby’s father and create a bunch of turmoil instead?June 8, 2021 at 9:39 am #1204291580
What I like about Jax is that he correctly points out that Carly is wrong most of the time! She doesn’t listen but it’s nice to have somebody tell it to her like it really is. I know the show is on her side but I’m not and I enjoy Jax pointing out the error of her ways!
Since I like Mike and Nina I am in no great big hurry to get them both back home. If Sonny does return to Port Charles I want him to continue to be Mike and to continue his relationship with Nina. Personally I would love it if he never returns to Carly but I know that isn’t going to happen ):
I wonder if Nina will return to Port Charles and Mike will follow her there?
Today is supposed to be the beginning of a brand new storyline for Ava. I hope it is a good one. Ever since Ava has gone from being a bad girl/villainess to more of a heroine she hasn’t been as vital. The writers just haven’t been writing for her, I hope this changes. While I was not friends with Maura, we were both at the same university together – I think I graduated a year before she did. I remember seeing her around the theatre arts department but I hung out with a different crowd back then. (and she wasn’t the Maura West back then either!!!)
The storyline is crazy but I am enjoying the Louise/Bailey story, it’s good soap!June 8, 2021 at 4:19 pm #1204292237
Could someone refresh my memory: why does Nikolas want Shawn to stay in prison? My memory is hazy on that particular storyline.
I love the chemistry between Mike and Nina, they are so tender together.
I think Spencer is the one who is causing problems for Ava…
I am surprised they don’t have Chase on the brink of death with a race against time as Finn has figured out the cure! Chase deserves so much better than Willow!
Genie Francis does wonders with all of her friendship scenes.June 8, 2021 at 8:00 pm #1204292436
Shawn’s in jail for a crime Nikolas committed (shooting Hayden).June 9, 2021 at 6:20 am #1204292848
I’m a little surprised by Nikolas going to lengths to keep Shawn in prison at this point. I would expect him to feel guilty about this man serving a sentence for a crime he committed, and also it feels like there’s more story potential if Shawn is out of prison and trying to look for the person who shot Hayden and Nikolas trying to counter that effort more specifically. Spencer being the one who has been taunting Ava would be a good development. It’s about time he was back on the show.
Could anybody else be at death’s door and still be as adorable as Chase? Outside of me being so irritated with Willow, it would just be nice for him to be getting some actual affection from someone and not just being strung along. It’s interesting to me that Finn didn’t tell Anna was really happened with Peter and ask her to try to track down where he had the antidote. I know it would have diffused the ticking clock situation, which they needed at this point, but it honestly still hasn’t felt all that urgent for Finn to find the cure. Like it was shocking to see Finn and Elizabeth involved in Maxie’s situation the other day. He doesn’t have time for that! I’m glad there’s a lead on a cure, though, because it would be very nice for Chase to get back to living his life and to find a new love interest who isn’t (inexplicably) hung up on someone else.
Also, Jax blackmailing Michael to get him to allow Nina to see Wiley feels insane at this point. I don’t feel bad for Michael, and honestly he shouldn’t even believe that Jax would go and tell Chase about him and Willow if he doesn’t do what he wants. But also I don’t believe Jax is this hung up on Nina. If he cared this much about Nina, he would have remembered that she had a grandchild in the first place. It’s also funny how Michael and Carly seem no more willing to let Nina see Wiley now than they were before (and Michael much less so), even though Nina has been out of town and not bothering any of them for months, which seemed to be exactly what they wanted. Also, imagine thinking you can run a mob family or a company when you let yourself get blackmailed by Jax this way. Truly embarrassing.June 9, 2021 at 10:25 am #1204293174
Speaking of embarrassing: this will make three women at least that Jax will have lost to Sonny (Brenda, Carly, and Nina). Damn that’s cold!June 9, 2021 at 1:53 pm #1204293547
I missed the reason that Liesl and Anna were in that room destroying the old junk equipment? Just to let off steam??? It was funny but weird!
So apparently a half-brother and mother’s DNA will not help Chase. This will lead to finding out that Gregory is Chase’s father. I was hoping that even though Cyrus ordered the tests changed there was no need to because Finn is Chase’s father, so I am disappointed. Josh Swickard did a great job scaring us all with his convulsions!
I just love the chemistry between Maurice Benard and Cynthia Watros! Finally, the key to my liking Sonny is to turn him into Mike!
Another excellent episode!June 9, 2021 at 4:39 pm #1204293728
Oh those rage rooms have been a thing for awhile. They’re all the …rage.June 10, 2021 at 8:49 am #1204294726
The phone call between Jax and Nina was great. Jax says he hopes he can see Nina when she’s in town, and she could not be less interested. What is Jax even doing? As a character, I like Jax as an opposition to Sonny (and I guess now Carly) in terms of being a person to say, “Oh, maybe don’t run a crime syndicate,” but he’s been a disaster otherwise for months now. He tanked his relationship with Nina, but then promptly became incredibly fixated on her and getting her back. Now this disaster with Michael, and you know Carly is going to find out, and then he (and we) will never hear the end of it.
The rage room scenes were so fun! I got a friend of mine who lives in another city a gift certificate to one of those like five years ago, and it seemed really cool. It’s interesting to think of Anna and Liesl’s relationship if you take Faison out of the equation. Now that he’s dead and Liesl has realized and acknowledged that he was an awful psychopath, could they kind of be friendly or is there too much water under the bridge? Probably the latter, but I like that there’s at least another hue to their dynamic.
I did NOT expect Finn’s cure for Chase to tie into the tampered paternity test results! I thought Finn would use Chase’s own DNA to mask the cure, not his and Jackie’s. I’m no doctor, but that seems unduly complicated.
Loving the mystery with Nikolas and Ava so far.June 10, 2021 at 1:25 pm #1204295343
I am really tired of the way the writers always figure out a way for the villains to win on this show. I hope Dan and Chris don’t fall in to that familiar pattern that I have seen, particularly on GH.
Today’s episode was solid if not as remarkable as the long run of episodes over the past several weeks. All of the scenes with Chase in his hospital room had a feeling of tremendous urgency – I just really truly care about Chase!!!
I was happy that they have finally located Martin and Cyrus’s mother and she is o.k. Too bad we didn’t get to see her instead of just being told it over a telephone conversation.
Gladys reminds me of all those interfering mothers on soaps when I was growing up!!! I am glad she’s sticking around!June 11, 2021 at 7:33 am #1204296294
Yes, while I find Gladys a little annoying, I also like that she’s sticking around. There are not that many characters on soaps anymore who don’t have easy access to large amounts of money but also are schemers trying to get a piece of the pie the way Gladys is. She’ll be fun to have on canvas to irritate Carly and to shake things up.
I liked the reminder in this episode that Willow and Michael had already decided to give Nina another chance with Wiley. This makes the blackmail from Jax feel even more absurd, but it also puts Michael in a less sympathetic position, as it seems like the main reason he hadn’t reached out to Nina was because of Carly.
The fact that there’s now a second plot possibly starting up in Nixon Falls with Lenny’s heart problems is kind of astonishing, but I like Phyllis and Lenny, and I’m glad for Sonny to continue to be Mike as long as he pleases.
