    More Maura and less Laura please!!!!! (;

I would have preferred for Chase to be Finn’s son rather than Gregory’s but nevertheless I enjoyed the scenes between the three of them yesterday. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.

GH has come off an intense period of great drama. As they shift into new storylines I am hoping they can continue to deliver strong storylines.

I get they are moving slowly with Austin but they do need to start giving us more information about him.

I thought they were going to have an ELQ board meeting? I guess we are “later the same day”…

I want Lucas and Brad back on the canvas. I would have thought they could have had Lucas show up in some of these prison scenes. Throw Felix or a new gay character into the mix and give them a strong storyline.

I am not looking forward to everybody being so angry with Nina – she will deserve it, I know – but Mike and Nina in Nixon Falls has been a breath of fresh air, the only time I have been able to tolerate Sonny. (An aside: when I first heard “Nixon Falls” I immediately thought of Richard Nixon, but then I slowly realized it was a homage to Agnes Nixon, who lived in Pennsylvania. Port Charles is in New York state, it’s supposed to be near Buffalo and Rochester.) My hope is that Mike doesn’t remember Carly and still loves Nina and forgives her for not telling him she knows his real identity…

Yes, the comforting thought with everyone likely being furious with Nina over not telling them about Sonny (though, it is ALWAYS worth noting that if Carly had been any less of a bitch to Nina on the phone that day, Nina would have told her) is that Sonny/Mike will probably still want to protect Nina and be more understanding about it. She also told Wiley, but I guess he wasn’t as eager to talk about that as he was to express his confusion over the mother everyone but Nina is trying to make him think never existed. It’s hard not to be Team Nina about all of this! It had not dawned on me that Nixon Falls was an homage to Agnes Nixon, but I love that. It sounds like it would really be the name of a rural Pennsylvania town.

They are supposed to be having an emergency board meeting for ELQ, though emergency doesn’t really seem accurate at this point. I’m assuming we’ll learn Austin’s identity at that point, but I guess we’ll see. That should be soon, but Valentin deciding to go off with Anna to search for Peter makes me wonder if maybe it’s further off than I’m thinking.

It is pretty rude of GH to not have Lucas, Brad or Felix show up even one time during Pride Month. That’s on top of how annoying it is that Brad went to prison for a crime that soap opera characters commit and get away with all the time and, while we get to see Sean and Alexis palling it up in the library, Brad hasn’t shown up there. If nothing else, it would be nice to see Alexis talking to someone besides Sean in there. I guess on GH you have to commit just the right level of crimes to avoid prison. Murder is fine, but make sure you succeed, because attempted murder will get you.

Overall, I think I’m glad with Gregory being Chase’s dad. The show milked all the up-front drama there was to be had from Finn being Chase’s father, and then undid it before we really had to deal with the practical applications of it. I think it also provided a good emotional journey for Finn to have him lose Chase as a son (which he’d come to really value) while realizing how to save his life.

It’s great seeing Maura get material she can really sink her teeth into again, and I love that Ava and Nikolas are having obstacles thrown at them. I look forward to finding out what’s really going on here.

I was thinking about something the other day: it used to seem like Michael was one of the most popular characters with fans, whereas now a lot of fans seem indifferent to him at best. I think a big part of this is that GH spent a lot of time being a show with generally compelling stories but also populated with a lot of unlikeable characters. The current headwriting team of Chris van Etten and Dan O’Conner (and Chris with Shelley Altman before that) have done a really good job of elevating or adding more likeable, rootable characters on the show and either weeding out or changing many of the less likeable characters. Michael has remained mostly the same, but the characters around him are considerably better, so as a viewer, I’m much less interested in him than I was before.

I loved today’s quieter episode and cited it for Best Writing in our Emmy submissions thread.

I vastly prefer Carly when she is quieter, as she was today in her scene with Elizabeth as they talk about grieving their dead husbands (or thought to be dead husband, in Carly’s case). LW often shouts her lines but is so much more effective when she doesn’t do so.

Loved the scenes between Chase and Finn – and the revelation that Chase is still having a problem with his legs too.

Britt and Jason are wonderful together. As are Sasha and Brando.

I loved that they have finally had a moment to show Elizabeth grieving at Franco’s grave.

I think the writers of this show are fantastic!!!!

I did like a lot of the scenes in the episode. I was a little annoyed that Elizabeth was apologizing to Carly over the Jason thing, when Carly should be apologizing to Elizabeth for coming to her house hours after her husband died and yelling at her that Jason was innocent. It was good to see Elizabeth getting a chance to grieve, though. Have Elizabeth and Cameron had a scene together since he found out that Peter killed Franco? I don’t remember them having a conversation about it, but they should have talked about it more than they have.

Sasha and Brando are cute together, and it’s always nice to see Molly and TJ. I loved the Britt/Jason scenes too. And poor Chase can’t catch a break!

Was anyone else bothered by the scene where Willow comes into Chase’s room, and Chase and Finn tell her that Chase can’t move his legs, but literally four seconds before they say it, you can see Chase moving his leg under the covers? It’s likely something that wasn’t expected to be in frame, and I think the issue might have been that Josh Swickard had his knee slightly raised and realized he couldn’t leave it that way since Chase is supposed to be unable to move his legs. For a few moments I wondered if maybe Chase was faking, but I’ve decided to assume it was just a mistake.

It’s cool that Monica is the new board chairperson at the hospital. I like how these people these other board members always want to make their newest appointee the chairperson. It’s also kind of interesting that Terry is throwing her hat in the ring for chief of staff.

Also it took until June 24th for ANY LGBTQIA + characters to show up in Pride month, so yeah. GH Twitter can definitely SUCK IT! (And no I’m not counting the clearly in love Michael and Chase Bc until I see them doing something other than inspire fanfic, they ain’t fam.)

My theory and I could be wrong, but I think Cameron Matheson’s character will be the one targeting the Corinthos clan

There were rumors swirling that he’d be playing Drew, but I like your theory better.

O.K., it is ridiculous that nobody knows Austin’s last name, not even Dante the cop! Is it Cain, Cassadine, Holt, Hardy, Webber, Quartermaine, the name of that mob family that is challenging the Corinthos clan, Corinthos? What other prominent Port Charles families are there in the history of the show that Austin could be related to? Will he be related to the new character Cameron Mathison will be playing? I have heard from reliable sources that he is related to a prominent Port Charles family…

It’s always difficult when a show transitions from strong storylines that have ended to new stories.

So it looks like Carly will be Mrs. Jason Morgan soon… where does this leave Britt???

Maurice Benard has been saying on his state of mind videos that he isn’t as excited by acting anymore and hinting he might retire from acting… I think it’s the money that keeps him on the show. I do wish he would retire!

One of the things about soaps is to forgive the nuttiness of the storylines – Maxie’s baby switch and Nina not telling anyone that Sonny is alive are beyond nutty storylines! But they have for me been extremely well told and I am loving Kirsten Storms and Cynthia Watros as they sell us these stories! I have noticed that Maxie’s story has similarities to Nelle giving her baby to Brad, with major differences though too.

I prefer when Laura Wright gives quieter performances, like she did on today’s show, than when she shouts all of her lines and is over-emphatic. This is a sudsy plot twist – I feel so bad for Britt though!

I love the friendship that is developing between Maxie and Brooklynn. Is a romance brewing between friends Valentin and Anna?

I was thinking today about how much I enjoyed every single scene in today’s episode.

This is a really nasty thing to say. There’s no reason for him to retire. You may not like his work, but a lot of people, both in and out of the industry, really like his work. That’s why he’s a three-time Emmy winner. It’s not for any of us to suggest that someone retire unless they are past the point where they CAN do the work. He still can, and he still has a family to support. So lay off.

I get to dislike the character of Sonny and wish he wasn’t on the canvas. I was simply conveying information that he has said several times on his own online videos and offering my opinion of what he has said. As I have said I like the amnesiac Mike and I like him with Nina. I want General Hospital to be a hospital-based soap and not a mobster-based soap; others feel differently.

Stuart Damon passed away. He was one of the greats of GH history- especially in the 80s. Alan was killed off way too soon for little payoff. Thinking of him and his family during this time.

Austin’s last name: it would have to be something that would mean something to other characters, such as Quartermaine, Cassadine, Novak, Corinthos, or Jerome – it would not make sense for his last name to be Holt, Moore, Webber, Hardy, Cain, or some other name, he would have no need to keep it a secret if that was the case. I really need for them to let us know who the heck he is now! (; I’m thinking it will be revealed at the ELQ board meeting.

Holt actually would make a lot of sense since that town is where Jimmie Lee settled after he left PC and would make him a Quartermaine.
