Also would like to point out that on Friday, Willow was getting a talking to about the choices she was making from Carly. CARLY! That should be enough to tell her to get it together!August 3, 2021 at 12:04 pm #1204379170
Another really strong episode today, and one with particularly strong performances from almost everyone in the cast!
I used to really like Michael and Willow as characters but they have been ruined for me by this storyline ): They are wonderful performers, yes, but I have stopped caring about them and I am certainly not rooting for them.
Chase learning about Michael and Willow and immediately understanding that they must be in love was refreshing, but let’s see where it goes from here. Austin being part of it as a sounding board was an interesting choice too. I feel so bad for Chase ):
I feel so bad for Trina ): Stella strikes again with her butting in where she doesn’t belong! Really good work from Sydney Mikayla. Nice scene between her and Spencer too.
Jordan letting Curtis know how she feels and his making it clear that his feelings have changed was a really well written and well acted scene.
I for one will really miss Nixon Falls – I really love the 4-person friendship that has developed there.August 3, 2021 at 4:26 pm #1204379636
Stella and Phyllis are going to be sisters. That’s how they’re going to keep this weaved into PC.August 4, 2021 at 1:40 pm #1204381061
Another strong performance from Sydney Mikayla as Trina! (: She’s so marvelous! (:
Chase is supposed to be a cop, why is he so gullible and malleable? (; Looks like he is going to test Willow and make her feel guilty???
Spencer sure is a BRAT!!!! I wish Laura would put the pieces of the puzzle together, and Ava too, for that matter.
So what is Ryan up to? Is Harmony being honest or is she being manipulated by Ryan?August 5, 2021 at 12:30 pm #1204382786
Thank goodness for Jax always calling out Carly on her terrible mothering of her children, putting them in danger – at least there is one character always calling her out, rightly so!
Gladys is a hoot! Poor Brooklynn has been saddled with her – no stress there for her, right? (;
There truly isn’t one single story right now that I am not interested in and invested in – that’s great soap imo! (:August 6, 2021 at 12:04 pm #1204384430
Loved the cliffhanger! Ryan and Spencer have been in contact – which we already knew, but now Nikolas and Alexis know about it too! Also, I liked that Harmony gave them the information by leaving his file on the table for them to look at for 20 minutes.
Nice friendship scenes between Ava and Shawn, and also Laura and Dante.
Hayden’s mother is back in town.
Carly is just so awful – she really puts everybody in her orbit in danger!
Weekend withdrawal from GH coming up!August 8, 2021 at 9:34 pm #1204387953
I was away all week and binged the week’s worth of episodes yesterday. It was great being able to see all the episodes at once.
It’ll be interesting to see where the story with Chase/Willow/Michael goes. Austin seems to be taking advantage of Chase’s situation to potentially create some trouble he can exploit for his own gain, which I guess is good for making Austin a more interesting character, but doesn’t make me like him any more. I also don’t love how Chase is being written, but hopefully that improves.
Nikolas and Alexis seeing that Ryan had been writing to Spencer was a good reveal, and I hope this is the spark Nikolas needs to realize that Spencer is the stalker.
I thought really everything that happened in the Curtis/Jordan/Portia/Trina story was great. A lot of very well written and acted scenes.
The Brook Lynn/Gladys stuff is going to be hilarious. Gladys really looked great in her suit, and I like the blond a lot, too. Maybe Brook Lynn can get a wardrobe upgrade soon and stop wearing a boxy jacket in literally every scene.
Maybe my favorite thing all week was Carly’s face when Valentin asked her if she and Jason were going to have kids. So funny. The Jax/Carly scenes were good, too, and I’m glad Britt and Jax are just in the friend zone and not pursuing a relationship.August 9, 2021 at 12:13 pm #1204388984
I am glad they read aloud Ryan’s letter to Spencer. I have had the subversive thought that we may have been led down a garden path where Spencer is concerned, it will be interesting to see where this all goes from here.
Charles Shaunessey (sp?) has signed a contract role; best known for Days and for the sitcom The Nanny. IDK what role he will play and which storyline he will be part of when he shows up.
Cameron Mathison is supposed to start real soon. Still don’t know what role he will be playing on the show.
I was thinking Hayden’s mother may have been killed? We will have to wait and see…
I am worried about the direction they are taking Chase in his story…
I hope they do an entire episode devoted to Stuart Damon; I missed him so much just watching those few moments of clips they showed at the end of today’s episode.August 9, 2021 at 10:03 pm #1204389644
I’m glad it’s finally confirmed that Cameron Mathison is playing Drew. People online have been talking about that like it’s a known fact for weeks now. It’s kind of hard to see Cameron as a person people could have thought was Jason for a few years, but I guess we’ll see where it goes. He seems like a weird fit for that role, but based on the way Cameron described the casting process, it seems like he reached out and they matched him with a role they were looking to fill rather than bringing him in with this role in mind. I’m assuming that Drew’s arrival will give us some clue about what’s going on with Hayden? I also hope that Drew showing up can derail whatever is happening with Sam and Dante.
Brook Lynn telling Michael that he and Willow aren’t doing the right thing for Chase was a good story beat, as it seems like to this point she’s generally just been fine with it. SO far, Chase has been doing just fine with everything, but I’m very annoyed that he seems on the path to becoming Austin’s pawn in his fight to legitimize his Quartermaine claim. But I have to admit, it’s dawned on me that what is really annoying me about Willow isn’t even the deceit, but the fact that she prefers Michael in the first place. I can see that she’s trying to do what’s right. But then I also think about her and Michael leaving their own son’s birthday party and having sex in the guest house, and I’m sure I’ll get over whatever Chase might want to do as revenge or whatever pretty fast.
Nikolas finally realizing that maybe Spencer is the stalker is good, though I was rolling my eyes pretty hard at Alexis trying to talk him out of it. It’s almost as annoying as when Sam stopped Dante from killing Peter. Like mother like daughter! But this made me think of how the stalker story was going before Spencer revealed that he was in town. Remember that shoeprint that they were going to track? They had a custom shoe in a specific size that would have narrowed the list of suspects down to very few and likely made Spencer’s involvement clear. What happened to that? Is Jordan too busy dealing with her marital strife to follow up?
I also want to say that while I like the show involving lots of people in the hospital, it bugs me that Willow is in a nurse training program. Having her be the teacher for the children at the hospital seemed like a really good role for her, and I think having people be involved at the hospital in more diverse ways is a good thing. Willow was a teacher, but now she’s becoming a nurse. Franco was an art therapist, but now Austin is a doctor. Brad was in charge of the lab, but now he’s in Pentonville. It just feels reductive.August 10, 2021 at 4:39 am #1204389791
Eventually I would like to see Chase paired with Maxie. It has been confirmed that Kirsten Storms has returned to work so it’s just a matter of how much time between filming and airing before we see Maxie again.
The cast is so large and they have so many interesting stories going on all at once that certain stories seem to be going at a snail’s pace…
I wonder why Billy J Miller didn’t return to the role of Drew? Personally I wish he would return to the role of Billy on Y&R. I was not a Cameron Mathison fan when he was on AMC, but will see what he brings to the table when he starts airing soon.
I actually like Sam and Dante. I just wish that Sam wasn’t so often annoying! I think it’s the way Kelly plays her.
Laura needs a story of her own; she’s been a supporting player for most of this year.
I miss Franco and Liz ):August 10, 2021 at 11:44 am #1204390357
After the way TPTB dicked over Miller by bringing him to play Jason and then going to Burton at the first opportunity after had settled into the role I’m not surprised if he would not have any interest in returning.August 11, 2021 at 8:26 am #1204391543
I certainly would have guessed that Billy Miller wasn’t interested in returning to the show given what happened there. Seems like Kelly Monaco has been visibly annoyed about it (on screen) for a couple of years now. It must be so so annoying when you’re playing a character as written and then the original actor comes back and everyone starts saying things like, “I should have known that wasn’t really you. You would never have done blah, blah, blah.”
I was thinking earlier than the situation with Michael, Willow and Chase could be a lot more interesting and fun to watch if they’d played it out almost the opposite of the way they did. Instead of Michael and Sasha getting a brief reunion followed by a cordial breakup and then her moving on, they could have had that with Willow and Chase (this is assuming that the goal has been putting Willow and Michael together). Sasha, on the other hand, could have been a schemer about the whole thing, gotten pregnant not knowing if the baby was Michael’s or Brando’s, manipulated things to try to keep Michael on the hook, played up the situation with Chase almost dying to really push Willow into doing what she’s been doing and keeping her away from Michael. Sasha being a vixen and pushing things in the story seems much more fun than the “it’s no one’s fault” approach followed by whatever clunky manipulations Austin is perpetrating.
Austin’s actions also don’t really make that much sense to me. As Chase pointed out, Austin is trying to get Chase to do something underhanded to benefit Austin. Why wouldn’t Austin at least first try to person who could have also benefitted directly from him getting ELQ voting shares, which is Valentin? I also don’t know why Scott and Austin went over and announced Austin’s intentions knowing that at the time they had nothing to support their case. So I guess what I’m saying is they could have just let Howarth continue to be Franco, hired someone in his 30s to play Austin, and then played it differently because the audience wasn’t clamoring to know what mystery backstory was worth killing off an existing character and having that actor play a new one.August 11, 2021 at 10:38 am #1204391846
Tbf I was always squicked out by redeeming Franco because this is someone who still used the idea of sexual assault as a weapon. Him and Liz only worked if you ignored years of disturbing behavior and the association with a now thoroughly cancelled actor. However, while I like this fresh start, part of the role isn’t ringing correct. Also when Drew comes back, doesn’t that invalidate the portion of his stock that Scout inherited and passed over to Valentin? Thus doesn’t that take out this whole power play in the first place?August 11, 2021 at 1:14 pm #1204392298
I hope that what Nikolas tells Ava tomorrow is that Spencer is the stalker. I want them to work together and show some smarts too.
I miss Jason with Britt. As someone who hasn’t liked Jason since he went from being a Quartermaine to a Morgan it’s rare for me to like him at all and I really liked him when he was with Britt, ever so briefly!
I will GROAN if there is another Ryan/Kevin switch. Writers, please don’t go there again!
