I love the idea of Liesl and Jax teaming up to take down Carly! While I like the story of Jason and Carly having to married from an emotional standpoint and its impact on character relationships, I don’t really care about the mob aspect of it at all. What if Jason and Carly just take out the other families and take over the whole tri-state area (or whatever), and then we never have to have another mob territory conflict story again? I don’t think anyone cares.
I feel so bad for Nikolas. Obviously he should not have fake stabbed Spencer and probably should have considered that he was terrorizing Trina, Cam and Joss in addition to Spencer, but I don’t think it was nearly as horrible a plan as Laura was making it out to be. Laura came down on him really hard. It felt especially harsh when she started talking about Florence Grey. I can understand that she expects less from someone like Carly and is less concerned about her moral compass (I guess, though honestly Laura just seems very on board with all of Carly’s crap, which I really dislike), but to act like Nikolas is so much worse than Carly in that scenario is kind of absurd. She immediately betrayed Laura’s trust to kidnap an elderly woman. I also did not need Carly coming in to get in Nikolas’s face about his parenting. Her track record is abysmal. No one should be as cool as they’ve been about Joss being approached by Joey Novak considering that mob-related stuff got Morgan killed and Michael both put in a coma and sent to prison where he was raped. Anyway, I look forward to eventually getting my ‘Nikolas Was Right’ tee shirt with Marcus Coloma’s pretty face on the back.
Good call, Freeman, on the mystery girl being connected to Spencer. I did not expect her to be Spencer’s current girlfriend, but I love that she’s in on the stalking with him and also that he thinks she went too far with setting Ava’s car on fire. Given that we’ve been seeing Spencer and Trina together for weeks and getting to love them together, I expect Esme will be trouble. (Soap characters named Esme are always trouble.)August 21, 2021 at 12:14 pm #1204408457
I thought Ava would go to Nixon Falls but it’s Maxie – glad that Kirsten is back!!!
Esme is going to stir up trouble but I think she will be a short-term character.
I think Peter is the one who is holding Drew. I just hope if Peter does come back it’s short-term and he is terminated permanently this time around.
I missed what Marty was telling Laura – I am guessing it’s that Cyrus is on the loose?
I think the show needs to show us now what exactly Spencer has done, make it explicit. They kept up the suspense for a very long time but now we the audience have the right to know what is going on with much more clarity.
Weekends without GH are hard! A hurricane is a-comin’ our way, just hoping there are no power outages where I live!August 22, 2021 at 9:12 pm #1204410666
I think based on Spencer’s conversation with Esme, we’re to understand that Spencer has done all of the stalking stuff up until setting Ava’s car on fire, which was of course Esme. They could change that going forward (and maybe they want to keep the option open — they seem to be regretting having explicitly revealed that Nikolas was behind Hayden’s shooting and that several people including Sam knew that information), though at this point it would be pretty annoying to get another person involved in the stalking or to have Ryan be any more involved than he already is.
It definitely crossed my mind that Peter might be holding Drew, but I hope that doesn’t turn out to be the case. At this point, what would Peter have to gain by continuing to hold Drew? The information Drew had is already out there, and the only reason I could think of for Peter not just killing Drew is so that he could have him returned to Port Charles to show people that he didn’t kill him. I was also thinking it could be Helena or whoever Charles Shaughnessy is coming on to play.
The surprise of Maxie showing up at the Tan-O was great! I don’t believe Marty actually said what the problem was for him and Laura. I think we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
I’m interested to see where the conversation with Chase and Brook Lynn goes. At this point, Chase has given Willow a thousand chances to just admit what’s happening between her and Michael, and not only did she continue to evade, but then she called Michael from 10 feet away and said she needed to see him. I still don’t think the logic of putting Chase in this position makes sense — Michael isn’t even running ELQ and doesn’t want to be, so helping shady Austin hurts every Quartermaine with whom Chase has no issues (including his good friend Brook Lynn) as much as or more than it hurts Michael.August 23, 2021 at 12:37 pm #1204411865
The return of Peter August – we all knew it was coming ): I hope it doesn’t last too long and he is permanently disposed of this time around. My guess is he will blackmail Nina about Sonny to try to get closer to Maxie and Louise.
So it looks like Michael and Willow will tell Chase the truth that they are liars and cheaters and all around horrible friends. I wish they would just let Chase stay his good self and not seek revenge; don’t ruin his character at the altar of Michael and Willow. But I think they will sacrifice him for them.
So Genie Francis’s vacation has begun with sending Laura out of town due to a threat from Cyrus. Hope it doesn’t last too long.
Yes, Charles Shaunessey’s character could be Drew’s captor; it’s a contract role though which I would think would be longer term?
Great to have Kirsten Storms back on the show!!!!August 24, 2021 at 9:27 am #1204413363
It is so nice having Kirsten back so soon! She looks great.
Even though it’s not a surprise, Peter turning up the way he did really just disgusted me. I guess there will be some explanation for how a doctor and a nurse mistakenly thought he was dead? It has been made BEYOND CLEAR that the audience hates this character and wants him gone, and the show just springing him back on us this way, as if we’re meant to be excited, just annoys me.
GH has a history of bringing in characters, making them do something awful, and then trying to redeem them to keep around long term, with varying degrees of success, so I wouldn’t be shocked if this were the path they’re taking with Charles Shaughnessy’s character as well. I have to say, though, Sam investigating this lead on Drew is the most interested I’ve been in her since the Dawn of Day story.
I didn’t love the way things went down with Chase and Brook Lynn, but I haven’t given up hope the story will resolve in a way that’s not the worst. For one thing, I don’t even remotely believe that Brook Lynn would have given Chase that document back and let him decide whether or not to give it to Austin. It’s also not believable that after Chase told Brook Lynn about Willow and Michael in the course of discussing this document he found, the two of them just continued to talk about Austin/the document/Jimmy Lee Holt and Edward’s will instead of getting into the Willow/Michael stuff at all. It seems absurd. I’m glad also that Brook Lynn pointed out that Chase is hurting all of the Qs by helping Austin, though none of them is making a good case for why a neutral observer shouldn’t help Austin out in this case. It’s also frustrating that Chase had decided not to help Austin, and it was only after overhearing Willow call Michael that he changed his mind. This could have all been avoided if Willow had just told Chase the truth before having a rendezvous with Michael about it, but of course she couldn’t do that.August 24, 2021 at 11:38 am #1204413651
Nice plot twist having nurse Chloe, the real one, stashed in the prison with Drew (:
Peter running into “Mike” and Nina – groan – but here we go, let’s see where this all goes. ):
Josh Swickard delivered another terrific performance as Michael and Willow finally reveal to him the truth and admits he already knows. Really nice varied performance from Josh!
I’m getting tired of the repetitive dialogue between Jason and Carly – move along, please!
I suddenly said out loud during the Drew/Chloe scene when she mentioned a new woman had been moved to the prison: “HAYDEN!” Just a hunch…
Unfortunately for me Austin is a big fail ): I love Roger but Austin just isn’t working for me at least…
Just so happy that Maxie is back!!!!! and Kirsten of course!August 24, 2021 at 12:24 pm #1204413736
Steve Burton rarely does anything for me but when he started swigging beer when he realized Maxie was going to steamroll her way into planning this wedding made my damn day.August 24, 2021 at 5:38 pm #1204414317
Not sure it’s Hayden, my money is on Holly!August 25, 2021 at 4:53 am #1204414695
Not sure it’s Hayden, my money is on Holly!
That’s interesting. I could see Holly interacting with Charles Shaunnessy, but of course we don’t know who he is going to be playing yet.
Peter’s smugness and always getting the upper hand on other characters I find extremely irritating ): Please make this return a mercifully short one, just a few months of this torture and then kill him off once and for all!!!!!
Curious to see what choice Chase makes, I can’t make up my mind what I want him to do.
I wish they would show us in flashbacks what exactly Spencer has done, and where Esme has fit in to this schemes (crimes).August 25, 2021 at 8:30 am #1204414953
Real Chloe being in the prison with Drew is kind of interesting. Does this mean someone is going around and collecting Peter’s victims before they die, or that Peter is keeping them for some reason? The latter would be a big eyeroll from me, as it just seems like backtracking to try to make the character more palatable. My first thought on the other woman in the prison was Hayden’s mother Naomi, because they said she’d just gotten there and because her showing up felt so random. But I’d be happier with it being Holly or Hayden!
I agree, Josh Swickard did a great job in the confrontation scenes with Willow and Michael, who were just incredibly annoying in those scenes. I’m glad that the conversation ultimately came to the point where Chase just said that the lie about cheating on Willow that broke them up in the first place turned out to be forever. This is kind of the root that no one’s been acknowledging, and that Willow really started on this train of lies because she felt she owed it to Chase to try to get back together with him even though she didn’t want to. Anyway, Josh was great. The single tear. The realistic physical struggle to stand and take steps. And the range of emotions throughout the conversation. I wonder where Willow and Michael go from here? I guess they’ll just be together and whatever stories they have will have to do with business and family stuff? It sounds like a potentially boring route for two characters who have proven to be quite boring together anyway.
The document regarding Edward’s will is an interesting matter. The show has certainly positioned it like Chase giving the document to Austin is the wrong thing to do and is a betrayal of the Quartermaines. Objectively, though, it seems like the right thing to do would be to let this document see the light of day and be vetted in court. The Quartermaines all met a few weeks ago to discuss whether they should stop fighting Austin, and it seemed like the ultimate conclusion was that there was no proof Edward actually intended to change the will, so no action should be taken. Now there is proof, and Michael’s reaction is that Austin shouldn’t have it anyway. Now, I am at the point of really disliking Austin, so I also don’t want Chase to give him the document, but the whole thing feels like a real judgment call.
The hospital scenes with Britt, Terry and Liz were fun. Liz’s behavior was pretty underhanded. I understand that her default is to expect that Britt is being unfair, but maybe if she really wanted to take time off at the last minute, the least she could have done was talk to her friends and try to get someone to agree to cover her shifts (the very shifts she spent months whining about not having) before getting in her boss’s face and saying, “The time is mine to take.” I was glad it resolved well, and the concluding scenes were really funny.
I too am tired of Jason and Carly talking about this GD wedding. Maxie being involved will help for sure. It also feels like things are lining up for some big explosives at the wedding, with the coinciding occurrences of Maxie planning the wedding and Peter (ugh) happening upon Sonny. On the bright side, Peter is still wanted for a bunch of crimes, so he at least can’t just be walking around Port Charles acting respectable.August 25, 2021 at 10:39 am #1204415372
^^^ Freeman, Charles Shaughnessy has appeared on GH in 1983 as a cousin of Holly so …maybe…August 25, 2021 at 1:47 pm #1204415859
Happy that Chase is still a good guy, nice scene with Willow today. Methinks that Willow will be killed off soon, like so many of Michael’s girlfriends – she really doesn’t have any purpose on the show at this point.
Who was more annoying? Peter or Carly? Their smugness is beyond irritating! I wish Nina would figure out a way to outsmart the jerk!
Loved Maxie holding Louise in her arms (:August 26, 2021 at 2:43 pm #1204418173
Nice friendship scenes today. Loved Liesl, Britt and Maxie. Loved Chase and Finn. Even Brooklynn, Michael and Willow were o.k. with me.
On the negative side were Joss, Carly, and then Jason. And of course smug Peter – but I think “Mike” (Sonny) is on to him and knows he is no friend to Nina. Loved that Nina called Liesl for help!!!!!
With the boredom I am experiencing with the three other shows at the moment I sure do look forward to GH every day!!!!August 27, 2021 at 1:38 pm #1204420094
So my theory about Esme having a connection to Ryan could be true…
Love that Nina has called in Aunt Liesl about Peter!!!!
I hope this doesn’t mean that Maura will be off the show for awhile? Drats! Why can’t we get a break from Laura Wright instead?
I was clapping so hard for Jax who always tells it like it is and certainly speaks for me as far as my feelings about Carly and her willingness to jeopardize her loved ones over and over and over again.
Jon Lindstrom is doing a great job with “locked in” Ryan.
Maxie’s scene with Jax was nice – not sure if they have ever had scenes together in the past…
Nuts, it’s the weekend and I will have to wait until Monday to get my GH fix!!!! (The following Monday – labor day – the show will be a repeat – wish they would repeat the great Maxie confronts Peter in the hospital episode!)August 27, 2021 at 2:50 pm #1204420192
Loved Maxie holding Louise in her arms (:
I agree with the Willow being killed, or if not killed another issue will be thrown into the Michael and Willow relationship
a happy couple on soaps equals back burner status
