Yesterday was a drag for me, but I’m glad we’re making progress in terms of finding Drew. I’ve come to realize that while I care about the concept of Drew, I don’t actually care about Drew, so the sooner he’s out of that cell (where he’s for some reason getting visits from some dangerous people who hate Peter and maybe also Victor) and back in stories with other characters, the better. I also really can’t get past the idea that Peter kept Drew alive all this time rather than killing him, but I guess that’s just a soap thing we have to accept. If Peter really thought he could unlock some mind control and turn Drew into a pawn, he would have had him locked in some closet in Port Charles way before he got on a flight to Afghanistan. And he was in full panic mode and trying to kill Franco and Andre, so I doubt he would have gone to the advanced trouble of staging the plane crash in the way Dallas described just to keep Drew alive rather than killing him. Nothing new, but basically nothing around Peter is working for me at all. He’s a character that I hate watching and also who makes things not make sense. Also, not that I want more people drawn into this mess, but it seems odd that Sonny is not at all concerned about Peter. Like, he mobilized a two-man torture unit immediately when he thought Ava and Nikolas might be taking his daughter on a trip. I would think he’d be at least somewhat interested in seeing Peter caught and punished after he burned down the Tan-O and tried to kill Phyllis and Nina and nearly killed him. But everyone in that storyline is more concerned about Nina being a liar.
Anyway, nice to see Robert back on again after months away and Portia after being off for a few weeks.October 6, 2021 at 11:41 am #1204505547
Does anybody kow the reason why they showed a repeat episode from last year today? Disappointed we didn’t get to see what was previewed yesterday ):October 7, 2021 at 8:35 am #1204507092
I saw on Twitter that the show would not air a new episode due to news coverage, but I don’t know what the news is that was being covered. Hopefully today things are back to normal.October 7, 2021 at 9:48 am #1204507495
For some reason we didn’t get the news coverage here – we got the 2020 episode with Alex and Anna where Anna was in the basement and Alex stabbed Valentin with a syringe; it was really strange seeing Julian on the show, and of course it was before Sonny lost his memory too. There was a nice scene between Ava and Julian as well.
It does mean that we won’t get a Friday cliffhanger until at least Monday and as the show will likely be pre-empted that day here due to a local event I will have to watch it online (unless they were planning on airing a repeat for the Columbus day holiday?).
Glad to get back to the storylines today!October 7, 2021 at 12:00 pm #1204507810
This was a really nice episode, lots of friendships explored, Sam and Dante deciding to see each other but slowly (and kissing), Victor telling Valentin that he is his biological father, great conversations between Austin and Maxie, Brooklynn and Chase, and then Brooklyn and Austin, a shootout at the bar in Crete after Anna strong-arms the lying barista with the Cassadine tattoo… really nice episode!
Tomorrow’s preview is all the characters and storylines I care about the most!October 8, 2021 at 12:03 pm #1204509403
Today’s episode was GREAT!!! Another great Friday episode (even though it’s really a Thursday episode). Every single scene was interesting, even if I don’t agree with all of it, such wonderful scenes. It was so wonderful to see Phyllis today! Britt and Spencer, Britt and Carly, Carly meeting Phyllis, Trina and Portia, Trina and Ava, Trina and Spencer! Esme trying to manipulate Cameron, even though I love Nina the scene where Joss confronts her was really emotional and really quite good! The directing and writing were phenomenal.
They did a great job with all the various sets used today. The actors respond to the great writing with truly amazing acting performances. On days when they utilize only their best storylines I am totally hooked on every single scene. Today was one of those days!
The MVP’s from the cast: every single cast member!!!!October 8, 2021 at 12:09 pm #1204509411
My favorite scenes yesterday were the Chase/Brook Lynn stuff. Not only do I like seeing them both and seeing them interacting (and sharing a banana, which was adorable), but I’m glad he talked her into considering that Austin was maybe not just making up Leo potentially benefitting from seeing a specialist to distract the family. I’m also glad they seem to be correcting things somewhat with Austin. His scenes with Maxie were good, and Maxie realizing that she and Brook Lynn are, in fact, good friends was pretty funny, even though I feel like we got a more dramatic version of this scene a while back between Maxie and Brook Lynn. It was also good that there was discussion of Lulu as Dante was moving on with Sam.
Victor being Valentin’s father works for me, though at this point I would love for Valentin to get out of being involved in Peter drama/Cassadine drama and just have some more human stuff to work with, though I’m sure he’ll get some juicy scenes once the truth about Bailey being Louise is revealed.October 11, 2021 at 4:42 am #1204512804
EmmyLoser: I have written you a private message!
Does anybody know if today’s episode will be a new one or a repeat? They often show repeats on holidays.
I hope it’s a new episode! The show has been ON FIRE lately! My favorite hour of television every weekday!October 11, 2021 at 9:30 am #1204513230
Freeman, I will give your message some thought and respond soon!
I had assumed that today would be a new episode of GH, but I always forget about Indigenous People’s Day/Columbus Day as a holiday because I still have to work. I do hope it’s new — even when I’m unhappy with some aspect(s) of the show, I generally very eager to see what’s happening next.
Friday’s episode was mostly very good. It was great to see Phyllis back in Port Charles, and I liked her chatting with Sonny. I’m looking forward to Phyllis and Nina’s conversation.
One thing I absolutely loved was Nina leaving the Metro Court saying she, “can’t justify paying Carly’s inflated prices for eggs and toast.” If I liked in Port Charles, I’m sure I would dislike both Carly and Sonny, and I’d never go to any of their businesses, including the Metro Court and Volonino’s gym, but people on the show seem perfectly content to frequent those places even if they can’t stand Carly or Sonny. I’m also feeling pretty bad for Nina. Obviously, what she did was bad, but I think I take issue with no one seeming bothered that Carly and Jax lied to Nina about Nelle being her daughter. Do people not know, or just not care? I can appreciate that Nina isn’t going around trying to defend herself on the basis of Carly doing a similar thing to her for what she thought was a good reason, but I would like someone to say that if Carly hadn’t lied about Nelle, this would not have happened. Also, this is a minor quibble, but people must realize that Sonny was “dead” for a couple of months before Nina ran into him in Nixon Falls, right? Surely they remember her disrupting the funeral when she learned about Carly’s and Jax’s lies and then subsequently spending weeks fighting with Carly over visitation with Wiley. It’s not like Nina found Sonny in the river in Secaucus and pulled a Helena. People in Port Charles had long accepted and mostly moved on from Sonny’s death by the time she found him. I’m kind of hopeful that Sonny will ultimately have to start defending Nina to some degree, which will of course infuriate Carly. Also, sorry Joss, but not one person should be getting in Nina’s face about her lying to Jax when he went to Nixon Falls to “win her back.” Her lying to him about Sonny being there is nowhere near as bad as him lying to her about Nelle, but furthermore, he should not have been coming there to “win her back” after what he did and how clear she was that the relationship was over. Anyway, #TeamNina.
Also, I’m dying to hear what “radical honestly” Carly thinks she should be discussing with Britt.October 11, 2021 at 12:50 pm #1204513565
One of the themes I have been noticing on GH lately and particularly today is forgiveness – people asking for forgiveness and either getting it or not getting it.
I was surprised that Ava had Spencer arrested (can she please have Esme arrested as well?) – I think this could be a problem since I don’t think she talked it over with Nikolas. The scene between Ava and Spencer was great – the real Ava has returned!!!
The scene between Spencer and Trina was great too. She’s strong but he’s trying and there are real feelings going on.
Cam and Joss having a conflict over Esme – I do wish Joss would be as smart about Carly as she is about other people! I feel that Esme has a big secret, not unlike Nelle and Carly when they came to town and stirred up trouble. I still think she is in cahoots with Ryan…
The talk between Sonny and Brando was an interesting one. The different decisions people make for the sake of their relationships and what is best for them – and also that Sonny was having a peaceful time in Nixon Falls…
All of Nina’s conversations were interesting, and her heart to heart with Sasha was very touching. Her thinking about Mike and the good times they shared…
I love that Britt values herself not to be second best and as much as I enjoyed her with Jason he made a poor decision and she is making an intelligent one. Her conversation with Carly was really good and Britt once again held her own with Carly. I now would be disappointed if Britt went back to Jason.
There wasn’t a single dull scene today – Nikolas with Alexis and then Alexis with Shawn and Shawn with Jax… another excellent episode!
It has been announced that GH now has a mandatory vaccination policy – where does this leave the anti-vaxxers on the show? (I think Ingo and Steve have been pretty vocal about their position on the subject…)
I am really not enjoying Drew’s return ): Every time they go back to that storyline the show stalls and becomes dull for me. But so much of the rest of the show is so good right now!October 12, 2021 at 9:45 am #1204515410
I was also surprised Ava had Spencer arrested! I really feel bad for Spencer, but he does deserve it. But I can’t help thinking about Nikolas pretending to be dead for years and Ava going back on her word to testify against Valentin in order to get her face fixed, and Spencer having some extreme feelings about that is totally understandable. The stalking, less so. Sadly, I bet Spencer will do all he can to protect Esme, and they won’t really have anything to hold her on. Avery Pohl is now on contract, so this is just the beginning of Esme’s shenanigans. And now she’s interning at Spring Ridge, causing disagreements between Joss and Cam (Cam, you sweet, naïve boy), and who knows what else. She’s definitely got an agenda and it definitely includes Ryan.
Trina/Spencer scenes were great as well. Between the conversation with Trina and the one with Ava, it was a very strong episode for Nikolas Chavez. Spencer is so contrite about having messed things up with Trina, but his disdain for Ava is palpable.
The other conversations were good, too. Shawn being led back to Nikolas with the Hayden investigation will be interesting. I loved Britt not going for Carly’s whole schtick where Jason is concerned. I liked Britt and Jason together, too, but at this point the show has convinced me that I don’t want them back together. It is funny, too, how the show keeps pushing the idea that Elizabeth is still somewhat hung up on Jason, which seems absurd. The last time she was even interested in Jason, it turned out to be Drew. There’s obviously a fondness and a level of trust, but I don’t think there’s a torch.
I’ve come to the point of feeling like Brando and Sasha are pretty extraneous on the show at this point, but it was nice to see Sasha and Nina connecting again.
I am not sure when the vaccine mandate might impact what we’re seeing on screen. Ingo has been beyond vocal about not taking it, and while I assume he won’t back down, it’s possible he might. The only other person I’d heard about being anti-vax was Marcus Coloma, but I’d guess he would get vaccinated rather than losing his job. I haven’t heard Steve Burton saying anything one way or the other about the vaccine, but I was under the impression that he was vaccinated. When he announced that he’d tested positive for COVID a few weeks ago, he specifically said he was exposed on set at GH, which I thought was interesting. Anyway, I guess we’ll see how things shake out.October 12, 2021 at 12:13 pm #1204515726
Another terrific episode!
While I agree that Brando and Sasha feel expendable I would miss Gladys- she’s such a hoot! The character who I think is the most expendable on the canvas at the moment is actually Willow…
Great scenes between Nina and Phyllis, Jax and Sonny, and Carly and Jason. The Nina/Sonny/Carly/Jason quad is being written with great skill and complexity, rather than the usual way soaps write these types of stories. Carly backing down for now was an unexpected twist, but I doubt it will last too long…
I was surprised that Nikolas is in agreement with Ava about Spencer’s punishment. But I do not understand why Esme hasn’t been arrested for arson?
Can they please get Alexis out of prison soon?
I wish they would figure out a way for Heather to come for a guest arc on the show – I miss Robin Mattson on the show.October 12, 2021 at 2:21 pm #1204516002
Instead of having Alexis in the same facility as Ryan & Harmony, they should have put her in the same facility as Heather Webber!
Letting this Alexis prison story last THIS long might actually be worth it if it meant we got to see NLG and Mattson share scenes.October 13, 2021 at 9:03 am #1204517217
If they put Ryan in this day spa prison, they can tell us that Heather Webber’s been a model prison for the last six years and put her in there as well. It’s unreal Alexis has been in prison this long, with no signs of getting out any time soon. They blew past what seemed like a chance to get her out with the corrupt judge story, and now they almost just seem willing to let her serve out her term. No governor’s daughter to save from a boat explosion or . . . whatever Sam did to get out early. And these were murderers! But now we have Alexis and Ryan in Spring Ridge, Harmony and Esme working there, and any number of Alexis’s family and friends coming by to see her on a regularly basis, especially Nikolas and Shawn. I guess if they don’t have any story ideas for her (they don’t), they may as well just let her keep doing what she’s doing. Though I do wonder if NLG is being punished for that incident with Maurice Benard where he and Ingo were kind of trash talking NLG on a live stream and she voiced her upset about it? I wouldn’t think so, since it’s not like she posted something about them but rather fans online made a big deal out of it, but who knows. It makes me think of how Tristan Rogers wasn’t on the show for months after he criticized the Peter character and story.
Ava telling Nikolas that she had Spencer arrested because he needs to learn not to mess with her was great. Those scenes played out well.
I’ve been loving everything with Nina, Sonny, Carly, Jason and now Phyllis. I’m thinking if there is anyone who can successfully make Carly realize that the pain she wants to inflict on Nina, making her lose someone she loves, is something she already did, but keeping her daughter’s identity from her for months and, this is the real kicker, getting Jax to lie about it as well? I’m sure Carly could never be convinced to call it even, but I don’t think she’ll ever even see this point if someone who isn’t Nina doesn’t say that to her directly. Maybe Sasha?October 13, 2021 at 3:57 pm #1204517736
I enjoyed today’s episode. I love that Ava has gotten her mojo back and she’s getting better lines and better material – I hope this continues. Cynthia Watros is slaying all of her scenes and I am totally immersed when she is on my screen. I love how strong Britt is and she is shown as really competent at her job. Austin’s constant yammering was amusing with Jason. There were no dead spots in today’s episode.
Tomorrow’s preview looks very promising too.
My only complaint is that thug Sonny is back but I do think they are exploring his Mike side to a certain degree. I would like to see Sonny having memories of Mike and Nina. Not now
