Britt was going to help Maxie smuggle the baby to safety but before they could follow through on that, Britt went on the run with Jason and that’s when BLQ presented Maxie with the option of her raising Louise. Britt never knew BLQ wasn’t pregnant. And when Britt came back Maxie did the smart thing and didn’t tell her. So the only people that know atm are Maxie, BLQ, and Nina.

Yes, not only did Britt not know that BLQ wasn’t pregnant, she was examining BLQ and when she left the room, BLQ swiped a sonogram printout (from Maxie I think?) and used it to help further her charade.

Carly said the main reason Jason wanted to leave town and go to Greece with Britt is to give her and Sonny space after he came back and avoid the awkwardness of their current relationship. When Diane told her to go off with Jason and get hammered and vent about Nina, Carly said Nina took Jason from her, too, giving that insanely self-centered explanation. Carly thinks everything is about her, and the idea that Jason is invested enough in Britt that he would be helping her find her mother regardless of what’s happening in the Jason/Carly relationship seems unimaginable for her.

It feels very weird that, for one, the show couldn’t get Jake at Elizabeth’s birthday party, and for another, the guest list included Nikolas but not any of her friends from work like Terry, Epiphany, Portia, Felix or even Willow. It could have been good, actually, having both Willow and Chase there, interacting awkwardly, her wanting to complain about feeling iced out of the Corinthos family decision-making but hedging.

The Trina/Joss scenes were great. Trina and Esme are like opposing forces of nature. They seem to just naturally counter each other all the time, even in cases like this where Trina doesn’t know that Esme was involved. Also, it was hilariously funny when Trina told Nikolas that she’d told Spencer to be his own man and stop being a money-grubbing little phony.

The Nina/Shawn scenes and the Nina/Phyllis/Sonny scenes were delightful. I liked the chemistry between Nina and Shawn. And every time Sonny and Nina have scenes like this, all I want is for Carly to see it somehow and lose her mind over it. It’s interesting to me how Sonny is being so performative in his work capacity about being back to his old self, being ruthless, etc., but wants Nina to see the side of him that reminds her of Mike and their time in Nixon Falls. And it must feel like a relief for him that he can show that softer side with her and she’s happy to see it, versus the recent scenes with Michael and Carly, where he’s trying to be fairer or more lenient and they seem annoyed by it.

I love Curtis and Portia both, but I am zero percent interested in this storyline with his father (or whoever) and the Savoy’s struggles to have live music. Also, I was trying to remember where I knew the actor who plays Linc from, and it took me almost the whole episode to remember that this is the same predatory asshat of a character who was BLQ’s manager and locked her into that contract.

If they ever recast McCoy or Mikayla the Joss/Trina dynamic would be catastrophically altered I fear because those two actors are such at ease playing that very real seeming friendship. A lot of adult actors can’t do what they can.

Loving these Mike and Nina scenes! (I mean: Sonny and Nina scenes, but they sure seem like Mike and Nina to me!). They have such an ease together.

Nice scene between Scotty and Ava today.

    Will Cam and Joss finally have sex? (;

Looks like Valentin will learn at least part of the truth soon? They really do need to move this storyline along now!

I realized today that the chemistry between Maurice Benard and Cynthia Watros is off the charts – they really spark off one another!

    Today on the Locher Room Alan interviewed writer Patrick Mulcahey, who wrote for Search For Tomorrow, Another World, Texas, Guiding Light (twice), Santa Barbara, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful – it’s a GREAT interview! Fun fact: he is married to man who has the exact same name as he does! Patrick Mulcahey! This interview was amazing, and he spills some interesting tea (;

How does someone come to be married to someone with their exact same name? That’s incredible.

I cannot believe how much I love the Nina/Sonny dynamic. Funny how suddenly Carly doesn’t want to be bossing people around at the Metro Court and instead wants to go to every other bar in town, bringing mob trouble to the Savoy, probably eventually running into Nina at Charlie’s and playing the victim some more.

Really fun episode overall, and the Phideaux thing was really cool. It felt odd that Chase and Willow/Michael were all in the same room and none of them talked to or about one another. Chase looked so cute in his private security outfit.

At this point, it feels like Brook Lynn and Maxie might be better off just telling Valentin the truth about Bailey. While he’s obviously more invested in his own child than he would be in Maxie and Peter’s, he may be better at countering Peter’s potential actions if he knows that this is actually Louise. (I know Peter doesn’t know that yet, but it really feels like just a matter of time before the show makes him find out in some improbable and very annoying way.)

Ava/Scotty scenes were great, and I got such a kick out of her calling him a cretin.

Trina holding her own with Esme was great – Trina is so no-nonsense and Esme is so awful but in an intriguing way, she always figures out a plan B if plan A doesn’t work for her!

At least there was some movement in a few storylines today – the black guy with the hat is about to reveal his identity; Ned and Olivia will finally move wherever it is going; Valentin is figuring out that Brooklynn is deceiving him…

Yes, things are heating up in a few things that have been on the backburner, which is good.

Also, I really liked Sonny giving Spencer some advice in Friday’s episode. I’d said that I wanted someone to see Spencer working and actually be encouraging rather than needling him or saying this isn’t the life they envisioned for him (which I think Laura would do, but she’s been gone), and surprisingly, Sonny stepped up. So now I’m not only quite invested in the Sonny/Nina relationship, but also starting to like Sonny’s interactions with other characters, which feels so strange for me.

I know this was synergy for Disney+ Day on Friday, but I don’t at all believe that Esme and Spencer would want to watch Jungle Cruise, LOL. Trina and Joss, sure. The little showdown between Esme and Trina was fun.

Portia was my MVP today, she had me laughing out loud several times!

Just as predicted the man in the hat is Curtis’s presumed dead father. Why do I not care about this?

I wish Brooklynn and Maxie would just come clean to Chase, and even though he would be obligated to turn them in he’s such a good guy maybe he wouldn’t… protecting the baby – and Maxie – from Peter need to be the top priorities. And while they are at it they might as well just come clean to Valentin too, even though that is trickier since Brooklynn committed fraud in all of this when it came to the ELQ situation.

Donnell Turner did a great job in the scenes with Curtis and his father yesterday. I’m hoping that now that Marshall has identified himself, this story will get more interesting, though honestly I find the character’s whole vibe just annoying.

I do love Portia just politely shredding people at the gallery. Her scenes with Trina were so cute. Esme making implications about Cam and Trina is entertaining, but it feels counterproductive for her. The likeliest outcome of it is making Spencer jealous and pushing him towards Trina.

Between Valentin honing in on Brook Lynn’s deceit and Gladys discovering Kip at the gallery, it feels like something will have to give soon in the Bailey Louise situation even if Brook Lynn doesn’t tell Chase anything.

So I’m wondering if maybe the reason we keep going back to Cassadine Island every six days is they’re spacing out all of Steve Burton’s scenes in the can to give them more time for a recast since they knew likely he wouldn’t be a sensible human. Since all the scenes on one set are shot in a block they may be re editing the episodes on the fly. Thoughts?

My thoughts on Leo are that he is either going to be with Gladys and Sasha and will help deliver the baby, or that Austin will find Leo and be the hero/save the day… and Olivia will FINALLY come to her senses and have the boy properly diagnosed!

I think they are just determined to keep Peter around for as long as they possibly can get away with – I feel that the ending should be in Port Charles and not on Cassadine Island – I haven’t been thrilled with the direction this has gone in, having Peter get the upper hand endlessly is not my idea of a good time ):

There has been no confirmation either way surrounding Steve Burton’s status with the show. Someone over the weekend said that he had filmed on his youtube channel that he was definitely leaving the show but I searched for it and couldn’t find it so I think that person was not telling the truth. It is strange that they haven’t denied the rumors of his departure and the only thing I can think of is that perhaps it’s for storyline reasons? Ingo remains the only cast member who we know is leaving the show.

The photographs on the gallery walls were quite striking.

Esme continues to intrigue, and Trina continues to shine as a great heroine on the show.

That would make sense, Sean. My assumption had been that the show would have Jason go missing or be presumed dead in the kerfuffle with Peter, which would allow them the option of a recast in whatever timeframe works for them, but if they don’t want him off screen for an extended time, I guess stretching out his remaining appearances would work. They certainly haven’t been showing Jason and the Cassadine Island folks very much. But I wonder how much flexibility they can muster, since that story is directly tied into what Anna, Valentin, Robert, and Victor have been up to in Port Charles and indirectly tied to the stuff with Gladys, Brook Lynn and Maxie.

Despite lack of official confirmation, I do fully believe that Steve Burton is gone from the show. A couple of very reliable soap journalists have said as much, and even SOD in last week’s podcast discussed Ingo’s last airdate and said they know of at least one other actor who will depart the show because of the vaccine mandate.

I don’t have a good sense of how close the hospital is to the Jerome Gallery, but my best guess is that Leo will wind up at the hospital with Austin. (Although, Leo helping to deliver Sasha’s baby would be wild and presumably somewhat traumatic for both of them!) Robert seemed to have already convinced Olivia not to let her fear that there might be an issue with Leo stop her from taking him to see a specialist and softened her on the idea of having a conversation with Ned about it rather than shutting him down. I hadn’t thought about this, but I wonder how the show will handle things if they do diagnose Leo as being on the autism spectrum. This seems like a story idea that works for kids but is much harder to deal with for teens/young adults. (DAYS seemed to have a tough time finding the right balance with Theo.) Then again, this also is a show that spent months talking about Donna having spina bifida, and that disappeared pretty fast after she was born.

I loved the shenanigans of Esme trying to lock Trina in the back room at the gallery, and ending up locking Sasha and Gladys in there. I can’t imagine they’ll be missing for too too long, as Brando wouldn’t just leave without Sasha, but maybe this will buy Brook Lynn some time to find another way to deal with Gladys. Esme seems really frazzled by Trina. It’s like she doesn’t know how to deal with her because Trina doesn’t take the bait on a lot of Esme’s schemes.

The thing that I don’t like about what they’re doing with Esme is how she’s overplaying her hand so early. Nelle when she came on (and Carly for that matter) took months before she really started to show her teeth but Esme has been at it since day one.

    Loved today’s episode (:

The scene between Phyllis and Carly was nice – maybe Phyllis can the new Jax and might even be more effective at getting her to accept reality? Probably not but I want someone to tell her the truth about herself…

Gladys has me laughing out loud so often – she’s just such a hoot! Gladys jumping to conclusions will at least get the storyline moving!

Leo at the docks was good writing and I must admit I cried when Olivia was admitting to Ned that she was scared. Really well played!

The scene between Sonny and Alexis was really good too. A softer Sonny is a good thing – and what will happen next for Alexis?

I actually find Esme’s ability to switch from plan A to plan B really interesting. She is an intriguing character but I want her to get her comeuppance eventually.

Nina running into Wiley and Willow was great but I am not looking forward to self righteous Carly tomorrow…

Bergen Williams, who played Alice (at the Q mansion) for many years, has passed away. She was 62 years old.
