I wish the show wouldn’t make Smoltz so unethical and sleazy. He’s a cute little guy and honestly could be what the show thinks Spinelli is in terms of being endearing without being a typical soap guy, but he’s always up to something. Also, Willow treating him like belly button lint the other day after he wrote that series of unflattering articles about Nina and helped them win that case seemed a little undue. Anyway, I was glad Sasha didn’t fall for Sienna’s tricks and that she busted Sienna and Smoltz at the end.

Interesting move on Ava’s part going to Sonny for help. It would be nice if Trina could be exonerated without Sonny getting involved, but I guess it’s too late for that now. Though Sonny has been so off his game lately (Joss recorded him assaulting a person, he’s putting his faith in a man Michael has planted in his organization, and Selina Wu seems to have her fingers in every enterprise in Port Charles) that I’m worried his tactics might not even work. His first suggestion was to try to coerce Esme into confessing, something he has already tried and failed to do.

Now that Spencer is going to be in police custody all night (and he’s really taking it like a champ), I wonder if Jordan will ask him about the drug he asked Britt about.

Maura West shows you time and again that GH is wasting its time with Laura Wright as the lead. It should be Maura and Cynthia.

Disappointed that Joss is questioning Cam’s motives today after having been reasonable with him yesterday. Must admit Carly was right, which is rare!

Here’s the thing about Sasha: the acting is excellent but the story isn’t needed imo.

Why do I think they are going to put Joss and Dex together?

Portia doing whatever it takes to help Trina makes sense… I hope it works.

If the juror reports what happened would that be a problem for Trina? She and her lawyer had nothing to do with it….

Tomorrow’s show is going to be all the other characters we haven’t seen much this past week…

I didn’t love that Joss spent almost the whole episode complaining about/judging other people’s efforts to help Trina. Her criticisms of Spencer’s actions feel really unfair and rather bratty, especially considering that no one else’s efforts to clear Trina’s name were any more successful than Spencer’s were. And while I also don’t like that Trina being exonerated may come down to Sonny intimidating a juror, it felt pretty unnecessary for Joss to even be involved in that. Except that, I agree, it does feel like they’re playing with the idea of pairing Dex and Joss, which I don’t really care for. I guess if it were found out that someone was messing with a juror, that might be cause for a mistrial? I don’t know what would happen.

The fact that bringing Oz out of the coma could kill him feels like reason enough not to do it, even if it feels like Trina’s only hope. I’m all for playing the long odds, but this is a person’s life. Portia at least seems to be absorbing the weight of the situation and is appropriately shaken by it, even if she’s going to do it. Curtis has seemed rather cold about it. Just because the man sells black market phones to teenage vixens doesn’t mean it’s fine to put his life in danger.

Seems like Jordan should be able to do something better than locking Sasha in a cell overnight, but then again, I’m used to watching DAYS, where people are kept in the interrogation room for seemingly several week, LOL.

They moved away from all of the most interesting stories and spent time with all of the other characters today. It was a solid episode, not great but nothing wrong with it either.

Britt softening with Cody; Gladys being a good friend and mother-in-law to Sasha; Lucy correctly thinking they need to cut their losses with Sasha (I agree with her, friendship or no friendship!)…

Here’s hoping we get a verdict in Trina’s trial next week and more movement on the Nina/Willow connection as well. It would also be nice to know where Esme is! I have read that Avery has a 3 year contract, which surprises me, and honestly I think it’s a mistake – she’s great, don’t get me wrong, but consequences for villainous behaviors is sorely needed on soaps these days!

It was nice to see the characters who haven’t been on in a while (Chase, Brook Lynn, Maxie, Lucy, Alexis…), but these stories aren’t very engaging. I do think Lucy is probably right, but I also feel like the Deception folks have done a bad job of supporting Sasha throughout everything over the past few months. The fact that no one could ever tell when she was high feels like an indication that no one was paying attention. And while I know they all suggested she take more time after Liam died, I feel like they should have taken stronger action after the car accident that killed Harmony. Still, you can’t help people who refuse to be helped sometimes, and realistically I would imagine someone needs to do Sasha’s job, and it can’t be her right now.

I also continue to be bothered by Maxie’s meddling on Cody’s behalf with Britt. I just don’t understand why she’d be so gung ho about him, but then I also don’t understand why she couldn’t just text Britt that she’d be late for brunch instead of just showing up an hour late or whatever.

I hope they move things along with the Brook Lynn/Chase story soon. Now they’re not really even having scenes together, so it doesn’t feel like were going in the right direction there. I also hope that Alexis and Gregory eventually start talking about anything other than journalistic integrity.

Today’s show was only so-so ): My favorite scene was the one between Ava and Willow. The latter has been at her most interesting interacting with other females on the show lately.

Does it seem like TPTB have accepted that their gamble with a new character for Roger Howarth simply hasn’t worked and is a dud? He is hardly ever on and they never gave him new characters to interact with – I am surprised. Personally I wish there was some way they could bring back Todd Manning to the show. Or if they had just made Franco presumed dead instead of “dead – dead”…. I feel bad for Roger – he’s a great actor but this role hasn’t been a good fit for him. ):

I miss Phyllis. I would vastly prefer a strong storyline for her than some of the dopey stories they are currently showing us. I am not enamored with this music manager story, nor Cody either. (It was nice though to see Lexi Ainsworth again).

I wonder if we will get a verdict this week? I suspect we won’t….

It was really nice to see Kristina yesterday, and see that she’s now manager at Charlie’s. Seeing Charlie’s did make me miss Phyllis, but the fact that Nina and Sonny have had enough other people to talk to that they haven’t needed Phyllis is a good sign. I would like to see her get involved in some other storyline. I’m hesitant to suggest that they play out the potential that Phyllis and Stella are related, mostly because I think we’re better off if they don’t make all the black characters related to one another, and they’ve already heavily implied that Curtis may be Trina’s biological father, meaning that through blood, upbringing, marriage or accidental procreation, Trina would end up related to Portia, Curtis, Marshall, TJ, Stella, Taggert, and even kinda sorta Jordan. I’d be fine with Phyllis staying out of that grouping, but maybe eventually having a different relative turn up. What if she turned out to be related to Andre Maddox (a character I’d love to see back in town as long as he doesn’t talk about memory mapping)?

Anyway, I appreciated the conversation between Kristina and Sonny. None of Sonny’s family is going to just be cool with what Nina did, and the tenor of Kristina’s reaction to Nina felt perfectly reasonable. And Nina seemed thrilled for Kristina to even be cordial to her, LOL.

At this point, I believe they could just bring Roger back as Todd. Sure, they’d have to do something about this current blunder with Austin, but the OLTL and AMC characters are available again for GH to use, and Kristen Alderson was clear that she’d jump at the chance to return to the show as Starr and is eager to get back into soaps.

Pretty good episode today -lots of adult conversations about relationships on today’s show. I did cringe with Carly’s insistence on getting everything she wants and more ): Team Nina 100%! (:

I am glad they have finally written worthwhile material for Maura lately! (: (: (:

I did enjoy most of the conversations people were having yesterday, though the way Nina and Sonny were talking, you’d think Nixon Falls happened much more recently than it did. Kind of unbelievable that it’s been 10 or so months since their return to Port Charles and that relationship has made so little progress.

I wonder why the show made Cody a horse guy? I suppose it gave him an easy in to working at the Quartermaine stables, but there just seem like a lot of more fun options that could have made the character more fun and interesting to watch. He kind of gives of the vibe of an aging escort who’s now down on his luck because jobs are getting harder to come by.

I didn’t like today’s episode. I particularly am not liking Cody and the way he is being shoved at us at the expense of characters we actually care about and want to see (or at least that’s how it is for me). There were a few interesting lines but otherwise this episode fell really flat…

^^Hard same. They’re working from the same playbook that they used for Austin, which was a massive fail.

Also, why doesn’t Spinelli tell Maxie, who already knows he’s behind Society Setups, the truth about Cody? And beyond that, why would Maxie even believe this? Everything surrounding this Society Setups story is dumb. Honestly, if Spinelli invented a matchmaking software that is illegally using people’s private accounts and information to match them up, then (a) he should be in jail and (b) why for Pete’s sake WHY can’t be do anything to even suggest Esme’s guilt in the revenge porn case?

Today’s episode was better – particularly Spencer’s scenes and Trina and Joss.

I think the writers need to clue us in better on what is going on – it’s o.k. to have things be a secret to the characters on the show but at a certain point tell us the audience what is going on – why is Austin going to Pautuck?

I wish they would stop hand-wringing and just do it already where the guy in the coma is concerned!

I am hoping the move on with things in a good direction next week.

Question: does anyone know what ever became of Drew Garrett, who played Michael for a few years in the late 00’s? He was excellent but he sure cared about his hair! (; He played out the complicated and excellent Claudia Zaccara storyline but he was abruptly replaced by Chad Duell – anybody know if it was his decision to leave or was he fired???

Check out Michael Fairman’s truly wonderful interview with Tabyana Ali and Brook Kerr on his youtube channel! It really is worth watching!
