Susan Brown who played Gail Baldwin has passed. I hope the show salutes her.

Thank you, for posting this, Sean Phillips!

Wikipedia also has this reflected in its page on the Emmy nominated actress. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Brown_(American_actress)

I started watching ABC’s General Hospital in 1984. By then, there wasn’t much with Lee and Gail Baldwin (played by 1979 Emmy winner Peter Hansen, who died last year, and Susan Brown). But, they would pop in occasionally to check in on Scott (Kin Shriner).

Susan Brown was born just days before my father. That is something to me. I am sorry we lose her.

Susan Brown takes me back to my early days watching GH (I started in 1980), where Gail was Monica’s concerned confidante, Scotty’s concerned stepmother, GH’s trusted doctor, and Lee’s beloved wife. She was part of what made GH cozy viewing back in the day. She seems to have been as sweet in real life as she was on-screen, based on what I have read.

Just so we are all clear on something: Lulu is the dumbest character on this show right?

Given that Lucas and Brad’s baby is in the hospital, it would be interesting if the writers tied the paternity story to the 1980 story of A.J.’s paternity. In that story, Rick, Monica, and Alan all believed that Rick was A.J.’s father. Monica planned to divorce Alan so that she and Rick could be together. Monica discovered that the baby had a birthmark like the one on Alan; she later discovered that the baby was really Alan’s, through a phenomenon known as the Bombay phenotype. Monica hid this information because she wanted to be with Rick, but eventually the truth was revealed and Rick left for because of her dishonesty. I loved the story and the manner in which it unfolded. It would be a great nod to history if Monica were the one to uncover this latest paternity secret.

Dude I basically said that about two pages ago on August 2. But I think if it makes sense to two people who actually know how this show should work, then of course it’ll never in a million years happen.

Also I know they’re trying to make Cam like some bad boy the way his mom was when she first came to canvas but they’ve made him into an unlikeable ass. There could be a genuine triangle between Oscar, Jose and Cam especially if Oscar is sick (some are speculating it’s Munchausen’s which I hope to God isn’t true especially since usually women who make their kids sick because of Munchausen’s usually want attention not to hide it). There could be a great draw on Joss to stand by her sick guy but also feel like Cam is the one who gets her (which he’s shown) and have it feel like a real choice for her. Instead the writers are making me not see a way to stan for Cam and Joss.

I am totally here for a fun and awkward Joss/Cam/Spencer/Emma scene where they allude to how they used to be the same age and were trying to date each other. It is always a pleasure to have Nicholas Bechtel around.

Watched today’s episode, which was pretty good. I cited Garen Stitt; Oliver confronts his parents about the secret they have been keeping about his terminal cancer. Brad talks to Julian about the baby situation. Michael visited Carly, who was with Jason. Nina bonded with that little girl (blanking out on her name).

I happened across a bit of yesterday’s episode at like 1 AM (I guess there was an interruption during the day?), and it all looked kind of interesting, I have to say. I only watched for a few minutes, but it was nice seeing Nina and Charlotte together, and I wanted to see what else was happening with Brad and Julian.

So great to see Genie Francis back at GH! She and Jon Lindstrom are already killing it. I can’t wait for Nicolas Bechtel’s arrival.

Eden McCoy has been doing a great job lately. Joss really seems like Carly’s daughter. I hope that, in the end, Oscar is able to survive his cancer. Garren Stitt has also grown on me — and Oscar is Alan Quatermaine’s grandson!

One character who I find annoying is Margaux. Her behavior is unprofessional bordering on ridiculous. If she really wants to avenge her father’s death, she shouldn’t be tipping her hand on a regular basis.

The story of Nina finding her daughter is boring. Michelle Stafford is an excellent actress, but GH has not done her any favors. Hopefully the story will get better.

Yeah they really dropped the ball HARD on the Nina’s daughter thing. They should have just gone the expected route and have it be Kiki. If for no other reason than it would have given Stafford and West some AMAZING scenes together because those two are pure dynamite onscreen. Can you imagine Ava yelling at her “You tried to steal my daughter!” and Nina firing back “You actually DID steal mine!” But alas we are left with a new character unattached to the rest of the canvas that we have to start from scratch from.

Unless Sasha Gilmore is related to some girls with that name in Connecticut. Then I am totally down for town.

I enjoyed today’s scenes with Ava and Ryan. They were offbeat, to say the least, but the performances of Jon Lindstrom and Maura West were compelling.

Sean: “Unless Sasha Gilmore is related to some girls with that name in Connecticut.” That made me laugh! Thanks, Sean.

Watching GH right now I am so struck by how much I love Kirsten Storms as Maxie (: I love the chemistry between her and Peter (Wesley Ramsey).

I am also enjoying Oliver & Josslyn very much too. SORAS’d Cameron not so much!

I feel badly for Ava with this Griffin and Kiki pairing ):
