Susan Brown who played Gail Baldwin has passed. I hope the show salutes her.

Thank you, for posting this, Sean Phillips!

Wikipedia also has this reflected in its page on the Emmy nominated actress. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Brown_(American_actress)

I started watching ABC’s General Hospital in 1984. By then, there wasn’t much with Lee and Gail Baldwin (played by 1979 Emmy winner Peter Hansen, who died last year, and Susan Brown). But, they would pop in occasionally to check in on Scott (Kin Shriner).

Susan Brown was born just days before my father. That is something to me. I am sorry we lose her.

Susan Brown takes me back to my early days watching GH (I started in 1980), where Gail was Monica’s concerned confidante, Scotty’s concerned stepmother, GH’s trusted doctor, and Lee’s beloved wife. She was part of what made GH cozy viewing back in the day. She seems to have been as sweet in real life as she was on-screen, based on what I have read.

Just so we are all clear on something: Lulu is the dumbest character on this show right?

Given that Lucas and Brad’s baby is in the hospital, it would be interesting if the writers tied the paternity story to the 1980 story of A.J.’s paternity. In that story, Rick, Monica, and Alan all believed that Rick was A.J.’s father. Monica planned to divorce Alan so that she and Rick could be together. Monica discovered that the baby had a birthmark like the one on Alan; she later discovered that the baby was really Alan’s, through a phenomenon known as the Bombay phenotype. Monica hid this information because she wanted to be with Rick, but eventually the truth was revealed and Rick left for because of her dishonesty. I loved the story and the manner in which it unfolded. It would be a great nod to history if Monica were the one to uncover this latest paternity secret.
