I’m just glad that after almost 25 years we are still looking for gratuitous reasons to get Ingo Rademacher to take off his shirt 🙂

Haha, yes, and I love that he just took it off in the middle of the party, without even going out into a hallway or whatever. The Hayden/Jax connection was a great surprise.

The fact that Lulu is still on the quest to catch the burglar seems completely ridiculous, but it was great to see Mark Lawson (Brody from OLTL) as her date.

The mystery of who pushed Liesl is fun, even if it seems pretty inconsequential. I could easily believe that Brad, Hayden, Valentin, Julian or any number of others pushed her into the water and it wouldn’t change my feeling on them. As can sometimes happen with recasts, Cynthia Watros’s Nina now seems like she has a loving and uncomplicated relationship with her aunt Liesl, and it’s weird.

I just realized Ingo was 24 when he debuted as Jax which is BONKERS for how they’ve always written the role. And agreed on Lulu. Under Rylan they have made this character either annoying or so beyond logic or reason that someone really should take the kids from her for everyone’s safety. Like honestly, Valentin should for setting up the robbery that Dev walked in on.

OK can we talk about the twist at the end of Oscar’s will reading?

I think the twist is solely to have more murder suspects when Shiloh is murdered. It makes no sense whatsoever, only if Shiloh somehow has some insider who changed the will in some way, but even that isn’t sensible. It’s bonkers!

Yeah since you know the attorney is supposed to be the one drafting the will and the will is supposed to have witnesses. How much do you wanna bet Michael gets wind that Shiloh runs a DNA test on Wiley, switches out a sample with his own in classic GH dna test tampering, only it proves that Shiloh is “Wiley”’s dad?

The show is really piling on the reasons for people to want to get rid of Shiloh! Just when I think they’re at capacity, they add more! Oscar leaving Shiloh his ELQ shares does seem bananas, but I wasn’t watching during the time when Oscar was living at the DoD house, so I don’t know.

It also is pretty crazy that no one looked at the DNA test that Shiloh had run. If they have to do another (it seems like they probably will, even though Shiloh continues to rack up criminal charges), surely they won’t run it at GH, the hospital where both of Wiley’s dads and his grandmother all work?

Also, Sam and Jason running around like they are police deputies or lawyers in training is pretty funny. When Jason started asking Harmony, pardon me, Lorraine questions during her big statement, everybody just rolled with it like it was cool, even though it was pretty absurd.

I was disappointed with the psychic and Ava yesterday ): The staging, the writing, and the guest performer didn’t add up for me but Maura was terrific. Mostly I think it’s just to plant the seed for Nikolas’s return.

Peter being shot by Dante is just a silly plot device to provide an excuse for Lulu to move on to other romantic partners. Personally I would love for Mark Lawson to return, even if he turns out to be a bad guy – I loved him as Brody on One Life To Live! (: (I do enjoy maxie and Lulu friendship scenes so that was nice).

I really believe that Nina ought to have left Port Charles when Michelle Stafford left the show. I am miffed that we will never get the payoff of the Sasha is not her daughter scenes with the correct actress playing Nina. I am finding Cynthia Watros jarring but I know that it sometimes just takes time to get used to somebody new in a role. I had the subversive thought that Gina Tognoni ought to have taken over the role of Nina! Actually I think she ought to have played the role all along and never played (fake) Phyllis at all on Y&R.

I miss Heather/Robin Mattson ): I wish she could come back for a visit.

I am wondering where they go from here with Franco? They have him happy with Liz – will he mess it all up? When they make couples too happy I lose interest in them as characters on a soap most of the time.

I hope they wrap up the Shiloh story soon, or at least have a murder story soon. It’s been dragging on for what feels like forever!

Ugh I hate preemptions …I caught the episode airing today online yesterday because someone in Canada posted it. Now all the cliffhangers are going to be on Monday and it’s gonna feel weird.

The preemptions are really irritating, and I think it’s worse with GH because you just have to wait until the next day and then everything is off for a month or two. DAYS never gets off schedule because they refuse to hold episodes, but then you have to either get online or access on demand to see the episode, or just resign yourself to missing it.

That the show is now digging into Shiloh’s past with Drew is good I guess, since they’ve been talking about their past connection for some time, but it’s shocking that they are still adding more layers of terrible to Shiloh’s character. Just when I think everyone hates him enough and surely he’ll be murdered soon, he gets worse! I thought they’d missed their best opportunity for a murder mystery when they had Kristina decide to leave DoD and Sam and Jason got the pledges, because the stakes and motivation seemed really high, but they’ve got even more people with more motives now.

I am disenchanted with their going back to the Drew/Jason back story within Shiloh’s story, especially since it will prolong Shiloh’s story – he really needs to go and they need to move on from it.

I miss the Ryan story but at least we occasionally see him at the prison.

I found Ava and the psychic to be really disappointing and it could have been great but they messed it up and the writing wasn’t there.

I was worried that once they ended both the Oscar story and the Ryan story the show would go back to focusing on the characters I don’t enjoy (Sonny and Jason) and not write strong stories for most of the characters who I really enjoy. For the most part this is what has happened.

I am still enjoying the show mostly on the strength of the great cast of actors and characters but they need to move on to new better stories soon.

    Today’s episode (Friday) was really good! Loved Nelle in particular, her scenes with her cellmate where she learns about Shiloh and then with Michael were great! I also really like Ava with the new funnier psychic, and her scene with nuNina worked well too. Carly and Michael had a nice effective scene. the episode moved along well and the annoying characters/actors had the day off! (;

It has been confirmed that Billy Miller is leaving GH and has been cast in a prime-time series. I only started liking Drew recently during the Oscar storyline. The revisionist history is already starting, where it will become all about Jason (of course!) and that stupid sci-fi switched twins blech.

In thinking about who the leads are on the show I come up with 6 actors and 5 actresses: Maurice Benard, Steve Burton, Roger Howarth, Jon Lindstrom, Billy Miller and the actor who plays Shiloh, whose name I think is Toby McLaughlin? For actresses I would place Tamara Braun, Genie Francis, Kelly Monaco, Maura West and Laura Wright as leads. There are a few others who are borderline and then a few who are eligible for Younger Actor or Actress who are leads (especially Katelyn MacMullen).

I definitely prefer the 2nd psychic to the first one. I thought the scenes between Ava and Ryan were electric yesterday (although I really don’t get why Ava went to see him at all).

They really need to move along the Shiloh story and end it ASAP!

Yes, I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, Freeman!

GH is in an interesting place right now story-wise, with some of the big stories that have ended and other smaller stories that seem to barely exist. Probably what’s working best about the show for me is the character balance. The characters that I can’t stand or tend to find annoying (Sonny, Carly, Alexis, Lulu) generally aren’t on often enough to really bug me. The characters I really like seeing (Willow, Chase, Michael, Joss/Cam/Dev/Trina, Hayden, Maxie, Obrecht) seem to be getting a good amount of screen time, and the character I just don’t care about are usually in stories I care about or scenes that are interesting.

Do we have an episode count for each character or actor? It feels very tough this year to say who is a lead and who isn’t. Sam, Jason, Ava, and Ryan/Kevin have all felt like leads, and Willow and Joss (who are both younger), but other than that, it feels murkier, even with stalwarts Sonny and Carly, both of whom have many more scenes relating to other people’s storylines (Dante/Lulu, Sasha/Michael, Shiloh/DoD/Wiley paternity stuff) than anything that’s about them. Jax feels more lead than them right now.

The show seems to be spinning on what to do with Ava. I didn’t really know where they were going with the psychic stuff, though I do like Chelsea better than I did Sibly. It seemed like an entree to start talking about Nikolas, but they don’t seem to be going that direction. Having Ava go see Ryan was mostly confusing to me. The actors play well off each other, but the scenes didn’t seem to have a point.

Also, the show has said the name Leslie Lu Spencer like three times in the last couple of weeks. Do you think they might try to transition Lulu into being called Leslie?
