I really enjoyed all the action from Shiloh’s trial and escape and the way it drew in so many of the characters. I thought it was good soap storytelling to see those characters drawn into the same conflict from different angles and having slightly different priorities. I was loving it until Shiloh ended up dead after a scuffle with Sam and Jason. What a waste to turn this into a thing where Sam is having to defend herself against murder charges. I haven’t seen yesterday’s episode yet, so I don’t know if there’s some additional evidence Jordan got that led to the arrest, but this seems ridiculous. Having a murder mystery play out would have been way more fun, way more interesting, and a great way of either resolving all of the story threads that Shiloh had started or at least transitioning them into something else. I’m not looking forward to this playing out.
I’m also not looking forward to the possibility of Nelle getting out of prison and being back in Port Charles terrorizing people. But I guess they had to do something to push the story of Wiley’s parentage. It seems like they’ve missed so many chances to make something happened there, but there still seem like better ways.October 3, 2019 at 11:32 am #1203119393
Nobody is ever dead on soaps anymore (except for Alan and A.J. unfortunately) so I expect Shiloh to be alive and well and it was all a ruse ): I too was hoping for a murder mystery but it’s not to be. I also was thinking that Brad would have a big dramatic courtroom confession scene… it really was a stupid direction for the storyline to end on (if it really has ended).
Lulu overhearing Olbrecht and Sasha was a good twist. Will she tell all to Maxie? I think we will finally get some sort of resolution but it won’t matter because Michelle Stafford’s Nina is long gone from the show.October 7, 2019 at 10:18 am #1203125867
I’d also thought Shiloh would go overboard off the Haunted Star and not be found, and then turn up in a couple of weeks, though even at that point a murder mystery would have lost its punch. So I was surprised when Chase had Willow ID Shiloh and it appeared to actually be him.
Lulu is truly the last person I need to see get more involved in any story, but I am interested to see how this plays out with her knowing Sasha’s secret, and how/whether that affects what Obrecht does about the Wiley secret. Still, what a sad waste not to have been able to see the repercussions play out with Michelle Stafford.October 7, 2019 at 7:21 pm #1203126842
For once I was happy that Lulu is such a buttinsky and stopped the wedding! I think Sasha will tell the truth to Nina; after all, Michael knows the truth and if for no other reason she would not want to lie in front of him. at least the story is going somewhere now. I really do wish they would get rid of Valentin – I really dislike him and find him taking up too much oxygen and space on the show.
I really like Peter and hope that eventually Maxie will forgive him.
I was hoping for a big trial scene and for Brad to admit the truth under cross-examination! Hopes dashed once again?
Nelle returning for her baby would be awesome though!
I was surprised how anti-climactic the birth of Carly’s baby has been – I expected an interesting plot twist..October 8, 2019 at 8:34 am #1203127648
Carly and Sonny are such a drag. Even scenes that should be interesting and make them sympathetic, the birth of their child with special needs, are just kind of a chore to watch. The dramatic, self-important way they revealed their baby’s name in stages is so them. But it’s nice to see other people excited about the baby. Also, I was thinking about this when Mike was listing off his grandkids: Is Donna the first time either Sonny or Carly has had a second child with the same partner? They’ve each of one other child with each other and one with AJ, Jax, Olivia, Alexis, and Ava. I guess that’s not unusual on soaps, but kind of funny for a couple that’s been together as long as and have as many kids as they do.
LOL, agreed about Lulu! I thought she was going to let the wedding go through and then tell Nina after, but her interrupting was much more fun. Nina’s reaction to that is the most Nina Cynthia Watros has been so far. I also think Sasha will admit the truth. She’s been trying to for weeks now, and so many people know by now. Maybe Jax will get there just in time to provide a shoulder for Nina to cry on.
I was starting to come around on Peter, but then he went and killed Drew and tried to kill Andre, when clearly what he should have done was just have Shiloh killed at Pentonville, an action I would hardly have held against him. Now he and Valentin are two peas in pod, and I’m pretty done with him as a love interest for Maxie. I look forward to Jason, Sam and Spinelli proving that he was working with Shiloh. Maybe someone will kill Peter, and we’ll still get our murder mystery. After all, in addition to all the stuff he’s done, he’s now connected to Shiloh’s crimes as well.October 8, 2019 at 3:00 pm #1203128217
The reason they’re doing that with the baby’s name is she’s named for Donna Messina the head of GH’s hair & makeup department for 36 years who passed away last year. This way the other actors get to toast this incredibly beloved member of the crew.October 9, 2019 at 10:02 am #1203129472
^^^Thanks for that info, Sean. That is really nice that the show honored Donna Messina in that way and gave the actors a chance to honor her as well. I didn’t realize that, and thought Donna Messina was possibly a character that had been on the show previously, since they’d mentioned the full name several times. I thought all that was fine, but found the reveal of the middle name Courtney to be pretty extra, though I get that they wanted to tell that to Mike first and so they waited. I suppose it’s more a product of just finding Sonny and Carly insufferable in general.October 9, 2019 at 1:50 pm #1203129841
You’re welcome and no, the bit about Bobbie giving Carly BJ’s music box was extra.October 11, 2019 at 9:35 am #1203132241
I’ve enjoyed watching Cynthia Watros this week but I still have no idea what character she’s playing because it isn’t Nina.October 11, 2019 at 7:32 pm #1203132715
If Ava and Nina become boozy besties I SO am on for that show.
