Has anyone, here at GoldDerby, streamed any of the published-to-YouTube videos of former soaps publicist—and he is in TV PR—Alan Locher?
His page is: The Locher Room.

Alan Locher has reuniting discussions with former cast members of past soaps As the World Turns and Guiding Light.
A big part of the motivation, for Locher, is COVID–19 and the need to still keep people entertained. In this case: soaps viewers. Soaps viewers of two former CBS series.
Some of the people Locher had on, so far, are not surprising. They are very pleasing. But there is one who took me by surprise.
It is Bryan Buffinton, who garnered five Emmy nominations during his 1989–1998 run as Billy and Vanessa’s son Bill Lewis on GL. Buffinton, who recently turned 40, was a child actor who did not parlay that acting career into adulthood. He is, from what I last came across, in the financial industry. (If anyone needs to correct me, please do.)
It was very nice seeing and hearing Buffinton. He was on with his Emmy winning screen mom Maeve Kinkead—another great who I was glad to see and hear (I now have an even deeper appreciation of her work on GL)—along with Kurt McKinney (who joined GL, as Matt Reardon, in 1994). Joining them: Gina Tognoni, the three-time Emmy winner who, and this delighted me, had a moment with Buffinton as the two realized they were on GL in separate periods of the series. (Tognoni debuted in 2004, won Emmys in 2006 and 2008, and stayed until GL ended in 2009. She won her third Emmy, for The Young and the Restless, in 2017.)
For anyone who appreciated the two CBS soaps and is reading this: If you are unaware of The Locher Room, I recommend going to the link, checking out the options, and giving at least one of the videos some of your time.
ReplyApril 30, 2020 at 5:42 am #1203454974I have watched all of them. I hope he continues doing them! Today he is doing an Another World reunion featuring Linda Dano and Stephen Schnetzer. Tomorrow it’s Elizabeth Hubbard and Martha Byrne (Lucinda and Lily of As the World Turns). I hope he continues to do them!
I have also read there will be a Loving reunion done by someone else.
I particularly loved seeing Maura West with her husband Scott DeFreitas (Andy, As the World Turns). Don Hastings was great too – only wish they had found Kathryn Hays for that reunion. Colleen Zenk was the most spirited of all of his guests.
Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey were together in their reunion, as were Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain in theirs.
I hope people will subscribe to his channel – the more the better so he will continue doing these!

I enjoyed the first two most of all, especially to see someone like Maureen Garett again.

ReplyCopy URLMay 1, 2020 at 2:08 pm #1203457817I hope Alan Locher can get Guiding Light’s Justin Deas (who won three of six Emmys for playing Buzz Cooper, his longest-running soaps role).
Locher mentioned he was trying to do so during the installment which included Deas’s screen son Frank Dicopoulos (who played Frank Cooper). Deas was on from 1993 until the series ended in 2009. For Dicopoulos, it was 1987 to 2009.
ReplyCopy URLMay 1, 2020 at 2:23 pm #1203457836Eileen Fulton, Vicky Wyndham and Deas are the remaining (and still living) major P&G stars Alan has yet to include. Wyndham always seemed prickly and is probably long over wanting anything to do with AW – nobody really had anything to say about her in the AW reunion.
I hated Buzz Cooper! The Coopers ate the show, but I admit Deas was a major figure on soaps for thirty years. I did always find it distasteful however that he kept submitting himself for Emmys and then almost never bothering to show up.
ReplyCopy URLMay 1, 2020 at 7:57 pm #1203458145Next week there will be 3: GL on Wed., OLTL on Thursday (Hillary B Smith is among the performers!), and ATWT on Friday!
ReplyCopy URLMay 10, 2020 at 6:33 am #1203474206Last night they did a “Daytime Cares” benefit that lasted almost 4 hours. The co-hosts were Laura Wright, Arianne Zucker and Shawn Christian (the last two are a couple, and oddly Kyle Lowder was on with his and Ari’s daughter!). Alison Sweeney shared a recipe. Wes Ramsey and Wally Kurth sang, among a few others. But the best was Maura West reciting a mother’s day poem! The B&B segment was given short shrift, partly due to their being 5 of them with limited time. I did not get who the actress was who played Nicole’s mother on Days? Not sure when she was on the show, must have been before 2011?
The OLTL reunion is this Thursday May 14th at 2 p.m. EST! Kassie and James DePaiva, Hillary B Smith and Robert S Woods, and Tuc Watkins!

ReplyCopy URLMay 13, 2020 at 2:38 am #1203479122The OLTL reunion has been postponed a week, it is now scheduled for May 21st. But on Friday it’s heaven: Kathryn Hays and Don Hastings! (:

I am looking forward to it as well.
I have to admit—it surprise me because, I was guessing, that perhaps Kathryn Hays would not be for doing this.
Not everyone would care to do this. So, this is nice.
ReplyCopy URLJune 2, 2020 at 7:46 pm #1203513696So I finally got around to watching some of these reunions (an ingenious idea conceived by Alan Locher btw) and it’s been such a treat. I’ve only had time to listen in on a few, but it’s been so wonderful seeing the many beloved faces again that defined the spheres of Springfield and Oakdale (and a very different era in the ever-changing world of daytime) and hearing what everyone’s been up to, much like checking in with dear family members and friends… such a light in these dark times. Just hearing Maeve Kinkead’s sweet-sounding voice already brought back so many fond memories of my childhood! I couldn’t help but get misty-eyed as Michael E. Knight recalled his time with David Canary and Cady McClain got choked up while reflecting on her very first Emmy win. Also loved the inspirational poem (I believe its title is “First Comes The Breath”?) that Wes Ramsey recited; he set the bar really high for future Locher Room reunions!

A new Locher Room was published to YouTube today, Wednesday, June 3, which has Guiding Light’s Justin Deas, Frank Dicopoulos, John Driscoll, Beth Ehlers, and Fiona Hutchison. Their characters were Buzz Cooper, Frank Cooper, Coop Bradshaw, Harley Cooper, and Jenna Bradshaw.
I have not yet watched. But, I do appreciate these videos—the discussions—as well.
I found myself having really enjoyed Alan Locher talking with As the World Turns’s Ellen Dolan and Scott Holmes, who played spouses Margo and Tom Hughes, and was published to YouTube last Friday, May 29.
I am a bit behind on some of these. Which is OK. Entertainment Weekly got in on this with a week of actors from All My Children. And I know The Young and the Restless cast members have participated in some of these. So, it’s nice especially for people who are interested.

Kathryn Hays clearly had a ball! She and Don were magical together and then to have Scott DeFreitas join in too was a special treat. And at the end when she made sure to say “Pal, kiddo, and toots”!!!! That was my favorite of all the Locher Room reunions by far! (:
