I’ll be sad to see Rome Flynn go as well, and I hope he finds success going forward. In my viewing experience, The Haves and the Have Nots is an awful show, but I guess it’s a step up? It certainly affords much more free time for other projects. It did look like B&B was planning to recast, or at least making an effort to, based on a recent casting call for a young, African-American leading man.
I’m still pretty behind on the show, but I have pretty mixed feelings now that Sheila has been revealed to just be the same old Sheila. Stories with returning villains of mythical status like Sheila can be very tough, because in many cases, either the character is up their old tricks, making the story feel a little stale at times and making the writing for the characters who let it happen again seem really implausible, or the character is changed/reformed, and the audience is disappointed that the villain is no longer themselves. Some shows manage it well (I think DAYS did a great job of this with Kristen coming back a few years ago), but it can be really hard. Has anyone verified Sheila’s story that she was in jail for years and years, basically hand-waving all the stuff she had supposedly done on Y&R while not wearing her own face?
My favorite thing in the last month or so on the show was the comically loud ripping sound when Eric tore up the ridiculous divorce papers he had Quinn sign. Obviously it had to be loud for Quinn to hear it while in the doorway and turn around to see what was happening, but it was like the sound effect for a Slim Jim commercial.
I’m also assuming the show doesn’t even want us to like Katie anymore, having her witness Maya’s ‘thank-you’ peck on the cheek to Zende and start reusing some of her Ridge/Quinn dialogue from a few months ago, telling Wyatt how it “seemed intimate.” I’ll give Katie credit, though, the fashion challenge at the Spencer Summit (I accidentally just typed Spectra Summit — Bill would have me shot!) was a lot of fun. Too bad she stopped short of creating a mechanism whereby anyone other than Bill, who had previously sabotaged one of the participants in an efforts to drive them out of business, would receive and announce the results.August 23, 2017 at 10:02 am #1202192867
I was thinking to myself yesterday: who are the leads on this show? For male actors, the only one who I feel definitely is a lead is Eric. Even Ridge has been mostly on the back-burner; Wyatt has a story right now with this new romance with Katie but still feels like more of a supporting player. Liam is on the back-burner, as is Rick and Bill. Thomas’s portrayer is I believe still under 25 so more likely to be nominated for Younger Actor.
Quinn, Katie and Sheila are the current leads; Steffy and Brooke are definitely supporting players. Maya has had a story but it still felt small and minor to me.
My guess is that Sheila is on the show to help us to root for Quinn.
I wish they would bring Felicia (Lesli Kay) back on to the show…August 28, 2017 at 3:37 pm #1202197607
Crazy day on B&B! That fight between Sheila and Quinn was a major campfest. And Spectra burning! Oh my. I know Bill is underhanded, but I am surprised he would risk jail time for a building.September 5, 2017 at 3:57 pm #1202204526
I was away for a couple of weeks, and am now so far behind on B&B my DVR started deleting episodes I hadn’t seen. I think I’m going to take a break from it, but I might have to watch a fight between Quinn and Sheila!September 5, 2017 at 4:05 pm #1202204531
B&B was such a tease today. They do an elaborate set-up where Liam takes down Bill, only to reveal in the middle of the episode that it was Liam’s daydream. Nevertheless, the ending was quite interesting, as Liam considered the possibilities of using his knowledge for good. Scott Clifton is doing a great job with this story.
I also liked the way the writers played the elevator scene today. I’m glad that nothing happened with Ridge and Quinn. Sheila is becoming the daytime equivalent of Wile E. Coyote.September 7, 2017 at 4:47 pm #1202206637
Liam is really giving it to Bill. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The story is giving Scott Clifton a great opportunity to showcase his talent. I hope B&B will soon do the same for Darin Brooks.
In other news, Pierson Fode is leaving B&B. Evidently, he is busy with other projects. This is one case where a recast seems likely — and warranted — although the writers may opt to shift the story in a different direction.September 7, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1202206644
I am not surprised that Pierson Fode has decided to leave and I wish him well (:September 8, 2017 at 9:15 am #1202207219
LOL at the Wile E. Coyote comment!
I’m pretty surprised by Pierson Fode’s departure, but I guess given that he’s young, talented, and incredibly good looking, I probably shouldn’t be. Good luck to him! I look forward to seeing him in other things.
I also just saw that Francisco San Martin (the first Dario on DAYS) will make an appearance on B&B, which is cool. I liked him just fine on DAYS, and I’m sure I would have liked him reprising the role more than Jordi Vilasuso’s casting (he always seemed too old for the part).September 14, 2017 at 6:06 pm #1202213125
I’ve been trying to figure out why I haven’t been enjoying the show much lately? I can’t quite put my finger on it…
I was surprised that I agree with Liam and see real growth on his part, but I know: it’s a soap, so I know: Bill will wind up “winning” ): I am surprised, though, that Steffy is being so weird about it all.
One of my problems with this show is the long absences for too many of the characters/actors. I often watch old half hour shows and the cast would be on regularly, without the huge gaps in time between appearances…September 25, 2017 at 4:31 pm #1202223350
B&B has decided to recast Thorne. The role will now be played by Ingo Rademacher.September 25, 2017 at 4:37 pm #1202223356
I was certainly shocked to see this earlier, and apparently the role is now contract and full time. It’s a slap in the face to Windsor Harmon, but I like Ingo a lot and think he’s generally very charming on screen, so it’s a great score for B&B.October 8, 2017 at 1:40 pm #1202232634
B&B is moving along at a fast pace, but somehow I’m not enjoying it that much. I think they’ve done a great job with the characterization of Liam and Bill, however, and I think the acting for this storyline has been good.
I don’t care for Wyatt and Katie as a couple, but I do like the timing as it has the potential to rub salt in Bill’s wounds. Then again, he may not even care. It has also helped Katie to get her groove back. In any case, I hope the relationship is temporary. I would like to see Wyatt with someone more suited to him — not Katie and not Steffy. Maybe someone new?
I’m really not feeling the Sheila storyline. They’ve pretty much decided to play it for laughs, so I try not to take it seriously and just enjoy the camp.
I realize that air time is variable due to story arcs, but Rick and Maya are way overdue for some story. They have had very little screen time for so long now. It would be nice if they could have a good story that did not involve marital conflict, as I feel like that thread is running through all the show’s current stories.October 8, 2017 at 1:51 pm #1202232641
I am not enjoying the show much at all right now. I see future pairings of Steffy and Bill and Liam and Sally, and neither one interests me. I am bored with this show ): I do enjoy Quinn’s scenes; she is a breath of fresh air.October 27, 2017 at 4:18 pm #1202305264
I did not enjoy the latest turn of events on B&B. The trick that Eric and Quinn played on Sheila was bizarre. They would have to know it would just add fuel to the fire. I guess that is the idea, but it just felt implausible. As for Dollar Bill, I knew he would seek revenge on Liam, but I was hoping that Liam’s tenure as head honcho would last longer. I do not like that he was outsmarted by Bill so quickly. Bill is starting to feel like Victor on Y&R and Sonny on GH, and that is not good. I hope there are some good twists coming.
