There’s been speculation that JJ might be the upcoming death, but considering that Casey Moss has been known to be leaving the show for months, his character dying wouldn’t really be surprising in the way I’ve been led to believe this death will be. And with the show having such a hard time maintaining its younger characters, killing one of them for no reason (I guess it wouldn’t necessarily be no reason) seems silly. If they want to give Jennifer some good material, maybe let her remember that it was Gina who pushed her over the balcony before people tell her that Hope is really Gina.February 6, 2020 at 8:38 pm #1203333464
Sounds like Galen Gering is leaving the show, just read that he posted about being back to work, but only to wrap up, he’ll be leaving in September.February 7, 2020 at 10:39 am #1203333958
I’ve seen that also. While I don’t mind having Rafe around, I’ve become rather indifferent to him as a character overall, and the show has so many characters. Overcrowding seems to be a problem with most of the soaps right now, so it’s hard to see Galen going to another show unless it’s as a recast for an existing character. But I guess it’s also possible that, since word of this has gotten out and some fans seem bothered by it, they’ll change their minds and just keep Rafe around on the backburner.
I feel like I cannot say enough how dumb the Gina/Stevano story is. Yesterday’s episode was interrupted by news coverage after the first 20 minutes, and it was almost a relief.February 10, 2020 at 2:42 pm #1203342134
Today’s episode was for me one of the worst episodes of Days in a very long time ): I am trying to put my finger on why I feel this way. Total annoyance with the Stefano and Gina storyline is my #1 reason, along with illogical story-telling.
I wish they would concentrate on the Will/Maggie storyline, and the who killed Jordan? story – stay away from all this Stefano/Gina yuck and ban all Brady/Kristen scenes please.February 11, 2020 at 8:38 am #1203342883
I watched the last three episodes in a row yesterday, and I actually rather enjoyed them. I still stand by everything I’ve said about the Stevano/Gina story and how so much of it doesn’t make sense, but I feel like it’s a getting into a campier place that’s at least more fun (maybe they think this is where they’ve been all along?), and people are figuring out/finding out that these two are not Hope and Steve, so the story can’t just keep going as is. As much as I was tired of watching this play out, I really want Hope back, which can’t happen if they don’t wrap this story up. The redeeming things about the last few episodes with this story have been: 1. The twist with Marlena being Hattie was well done. It wasn’t a total shock, but they played it really well. Deidre Hall did an incredible job being just Hattie enough for those few episodes before Hattie totally exposes herself. 2. Kate is redeeming herself somewhat by rescuing Marlena and starting to tell people the truth about Stefano and Gina. 3. Abigail and Chad getting involved and taking no time to figure out what’s going on is pretty satisfying. I also think it’s pretty funny that John, Steve, etc. act like such super sleuths, but Marlena and Kate showed up in Prague, started “following some leads,” and almost immediately found John and Gina.
I’m glad they’ve also at least started going down some other road in terms of who killed Jordan by now starting to look for David’s father. Also, Will and Ben’s goodbye at the prison was really sweet. Even Clyde kind of redeemed himself a little by setting it up for Ben to escape while he covers for him. I’m looking forward to seeing that story pick up more, though I assume that we’ll have to do a hard pivot to Eli/Gabi/Lani this week, since the wedding is, in theory, Friday.February 11, 2020 at 2:45 pm #1203343345
I was so bored by today’s episode I stopped watching after the first twenty minutes ): I am simply not enjoying all this Stefano/Gina stuff at all. Can they please get back to Will/Maggie and the Jordan murder mystery?February 12, 2020 at 10:05 am #1203344286
I thought the Stevano/Kayla scenes could be interesting, that Steve might start to come through if they were together in close quarters. But that wasn’t the case at all. The show didn’t bother to do anything particularly worth watching in those scenes, just more of ‘Steve’ being a jerk to Kayla and not properly remembering the details of their life together, which we’ve already seen. Even with the bar set so low, I found those scenes disappointing. I’m glad at least that John and Marlena are safely reunited, no one is currently trapped in a lair or a dungeon, and Gina is being dragged back to Salem to hopefully be turned back into Hope. It’s also good that Jennifer finally remembered that Gina is the one who pushed her off the balcony. Do you think she remembers how Rolf turned Hope into Gina or has any idea how to undo it?February 12, 2020 at 11:05 am #1203344376
have others been reporting the spam that has been showing up on this thread?
I enjoyed Ben and Ciara today, and Justin and Victor, but I really hate Brady and Kristen scenes – they have made me truly dislike Brady completely.February 12, 2020 at 1:35 pm #1203344636
I’ve deleted the two instances here. If there are others, please send me a PM.February 12, 2020 at 1:35 pm #1203344639
Also, have you seen the news that Freddie and Chandler were permanently let go?February 14, 2020 at 7:48 am #1203346752
These Kayla/Stevano scenes are killing me. Literally everyone in Salem should have been told by now that Steve is actually Stefano, and the fact that Kayla is missing should have people on high alert. I also love that the show didn’t even bother having Julie’s pacemaker replaced on a day that wasn’t Eli and Gabi’s wedding day.
As I get more frustrated with the writing on the show, I was thinking yesterday how much I miss the Tomlin/Whitesell era. What a great time that was. The writers wrote the characters like they were people they at least thought about as people instead of just constructs to move around in plots, and the stories made logistical sense. I didn’t love absolutely everything during that time — I still want to get in the fetal position and cry when I think of EJ cheating on Sami with Abigail — but by and large, it was great in a way that we haven’t really seen since then.
