I would have loved just one scene of Ciara holding the gun on Evan in the car and making him drive to Statesville. That would have made up for the blatant insanity of Ciara being able to walk Evan, at gunpoint, into the prison execution room without being shot or stopped.March 5, 2020 at 8:32 pm #1203372684
I really hate this Stevano storyline. And it doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.March 6, 2020 at 9:09 am #1203373282
It’s terrible and getting worse! I was really hoping that this attempt to swap Marlena for Kayla would end up getting Stevano caught and then they’d hold him somewhere until they figured out how to undo the procedure. I know Stefano was maniacal and extremely morally dubious, but Stevano is so far off the rails and the story is so dumb.March 10, 2020 at 10:20 am #1203377038
John’s line to the effect of, “They’re pumping in a colorless, odorless gas. The son of a bitch is trying to kill us,” just made me laugh. It just sounded so nonsensical. It was even funnier that Roman and Hattie busted in and immediately started covering their faces, despite not being able to see or smell this poisonous gas. I really don’t see how anyone could not see how off the rails everything with Stevano is. We already have Steve and Hope altered by Rolf’s technology, and Chad being remote controlled somehow through some kind of serum. Now Rolf and Stevano are going to put a chip in Marlena’s brain, which honestly feels like a fireable offense of a story turn.
In stories that don’t center around brainwashing and microchips, I really enjoyed Gabi’s conversations with both Julie and Rafe. I wonder if Rafe has checked Evan’s phone records yet. I’m eager to know who Evan called when the truth about him was starting to come out. That’s probably who has baby David (who I guess is actually like a two-year-old now).March 12, 2020 at 1:08 am #1203378925
Can we please get back to Maggie’s storyline? I haven’t been enjoying the show very much this week – it’s been too much Stevano and it’s been a total snoozefest. I don’t enjoy this new development with Chad at all. It’s stupid. Can we please get back to realistic stories?March 12, 2020 at 10:17 am #1203379390
Not only is the Chad thing stupid, but they’ve done it before, when Andre similarly brainwashed him and tried to make him sleep with Belle, for reasons I don’t at all remember. I can’t believe that the show wanted a new big bad guy and they thought the best option was to turn Steve into Stefano and have him wreak havoc all over the place. Why would fans want to see any form of Steve kidnapping Marlena, trying to murder Steve’s friends and loved ones, and brainwashing Chad to, among other things, try to kill Gabi and Kate? I’m incredibly unhappy with the show right now.March 16, 2020 at 4:36 pm #1203383598
I am finding all of Kristen’s scenes so infuriating that I can’t bear to watch them. I am considering quitting Days once Will & Sonny leave the show. This show is too painful to watch! They keep on getting rid of the characters/actors I care about and the ones I can’t stand stay around forever of course! I haven’t been enjoying the show the past several weeks, with a few exceptions.March 17, 2020 at 8:21 am #1203384144
While I am, at this point, glad to get literally any episode where we don’t have to see Gina, Stevano, or now Chad, I agree that the stuff with Kristen is just so much. As we get closer and closer to the switch being revealed, it feels truly insane that the show is going to have Sarah and Eric’s baby end up with Kristen and Brady. It’s like breaking a soap rule that the two good characters from the core families will end up having to give their baby to a (currently reformed) villain and the sucker who keeps falling for her. They’ve been working to make Kristen sympathetic, but she’s still got so little rooting value. They would have been better off telling this kind of story with someone like Theresa — and really I think I’d be much more amenable to a full-time Theresa recast than a Kristen one.
Anywho, I am liking the actress playing Dr. Raynor. I also really loved the Xander/Sarah proposal scene. I’m much too invested in them for a couple that seems doomed.
I was also pleasantly surprised that Evan/Christian is becoming more than just the scapegoat for Jordan’s murder and the mystery of who David’s father is. Even though a lot of his interaction with Orpheus so far basically feels like it was taken from old Ben/Clyde conversations, it’s more interesting than where I thought the Evan story would go (nowhere), and having Orpheus being the town villain would be so so so much better than the current pattern of Stevano being behind everything.March 19, 2020 at 1:35 pm #1203387342
I did enjoy the scenes with Maggie and/or Zander today. This was the first day the show wasn’t interrupted by coronavirus updates. Otherwise I found the rest of the show not so good, esp. Kristen and Brady ):March 19, 2020 at 11:00 pm #1203387778
I think Stacy Haiduk tries hard but she can’t seem to make Kristen a character worth rooting for. Timing is everything in daytime and I still think it’s too bad Cynthia Watros didn’t end up with the role. Ellen Wheeler would’ve also been a good Kristen.March 20, 2020 at 9:03 am #1203388172
Stacy Haiduk is doing what she can, but there’s not that much to even be done. One of the worst parts, for me, is that even if you don’t keep comparing her to Eileen Davidson, just looking at Kristen as played by Haiduk is even worse. It was Haiduk’s Kristen that came in like a raging lunatic and took away any connectable humanity. Once that happened, it was hard to turn back, and having her redemption be about becoming a mother is BS. Imagine if every villain just got the thing they wanted, and then started acting like a better person? Take this in contrast to a character like Xander, who started acting like a better person in order to be worthy of a thing he didn’t think he could ever get. That’s so much better.
Cynthia Watros as Kristen would have been interesting, and probably a better fit than Haiduk, though I’m not sold on that idea. Wheeler probably could have been great, though I’d never considered her. I still think the only person who could give the role anywhere near the juice that Davidson does is Michelle Stafford, but even if she had been available, I’m sure she would not have signed on to play the insanity they wrote for the first recast scenes.March 23, 2020 at 8:52 am #1203391201
I read over the weekend that Greg Rikaart will be back on DAYS as Leo on April 1, which is very exciting news for me. I feel like the show will continue to be fairly enjoyable, if flawed, in stories that don’t involve the DiMeras and abysmal in stories that do.March 23, 2020 at 11:30 am #1203391550
Maybe it’s just the pandemic’s fault but I found today’s episode to be a total bore!March 24, 2020 at 11:20 am #1203392829
Has anybody else grown really tired of the switched test results play on soaps? ):
So Maggie is going to prison! I did not see it coming at all. I figured they would find some way to keep her out of it. Suzanne Rogers did very strong work today.
Paul Telfer makes Zander sympathetic even though he is doing something wrong. I will miss him enormously when he leaves the show. I hope they leave the door open for his return or return visits.March 24, 2020 at 11:55 am #1203392860
More often than not over the last week and a half, DAYS has been mostly or entirely subsumed by coronavirus updates, so I’m perpetually a day or two behind because the On Demand option doesn’t usually show up until pretty late.
