What an ending! That was a great wedding – Julie’s monologue was beautiful, flashbacks were effective, attendance was great and the ending was surprising – haven’t heard anything about ben leaving the show – in genuine suspense on what happens next!July 23, 2020 at 5:39 am #1203597206
Watching the wedding, I was thinking who could be the saboteur since Claire would be too easy as the culprit – plus I don’t think she would’ve been able to put together the explosives. I think a great twist would be for Hope to have been the one behind trying to sabotage the wedding. She never liked Ben nor ever wanted him to be with her daughter. This would be a great way for her to exit the show.July 23, 2020 at 9:08 am #1203597645
That was a great wedding. It was nice to see a soap wedding that even remotely resembled a soap wedding for a change. And what a suspenseful ending! This was, I believe, to be the episode the Friday before the Olympic break, but now we get to pick it up only a day later!
I had also been trying to think who could be the saboteur, and my first/best thought was Eve. I assume the motive is hurting Ben and ruining his wedding, and it seems like the person doesn’t have much regard for who else at the wedding might get hurt. And since Will is alive, and no one cares about Serena (well, I do, but no one on the show) or Wendy the midwife, I go back to Paige. Eve was determined to see Ben fry to ANY crime after he was released from Bayview, so her motive is clear. She also hates most of Salem and wouldn’t care if there was some collateral damage. I could even see her sabotaging Claire’s efforts as maid of honor to keep her out of harm’s way, since the two are close. They’re making Claire look guilty, but it’s too obvious, and I also don’t think she’d blow up a church with her dad, Marlena and John inside. Victor is suspiciously absent because Maggie isn’t feeling well, but again, there’s too much family there for him to take that kind of chance just to keep Ben and Ciara apart. There’s always bombophile Orpheus, who is always looking to take down half of Salem and wouldn’t care who he hurt in the process. Ben and Ciara are the reason he and Christian ended up in prison, so he feels like a possibility. Maybe it’s a collaboration.July 23, 2020 at 9:24 am #1203597667
I thought it was Eve too! But then Claire said she blew up all her chances with Ciara. What was Paige’s funeral like? Did she have one on the show? I don’t really remember. How many people showed if she did. Everyone is just like well Ben was abused, went insane, killed people but he’s all better now.July 23, 2020 at 9:36 am #1203597684
Paige had a pretty big funeral, from what I recall. I believe that Eduardo showed up in town, and everyone realized that Paige was Rafe and Gabi’s sister, between her murder and the funeral. So I think Eduardo, Rafe and Gabi were there and all that drama was kind of a focal point, in addition to Eve’s extreme grief over losing her daughter and of course her guilt over the whole sleeping with JJ business. JJ was also there and devastated, and I think had just started police training. And people thought it was Chad at that time, so that was a whole thing too. Because Paige had been volunteering at the hospital and shadowing doctors, I think some of those characters, Daniel and maybe Kayla, were there as well.July 23, 2020 at 12:01 pm #1203598062

I could see Eve being behind it, but it would be soooo much more interesting if it was Hope. That would be an amazing twist. It would give Kristian Alfonso so much great material before she is gone for good. The writers and producers never make the decisions they should make like making Ben or JJ gay (or at least bisexual).July 23, 2020 at 7:22 pm #1203598608

Thanks for the info! I think Eve makes sense.
Now Jake things his bad associates did it.
Hope setting the bomb off when Ciara returned to hug her leaving Ben alone in the foyer would be great!July 24, 2020 at 7:54 am #1203599650
Ben and Will’s scenes are fraught with sexual tension.
When Will was fixing Ben’s tie the other die, there was this pause which I guess was because Will was tightening a tie around the neck of the Necktie Killer who murdered him, but it seemed more like they might make out.
It would have been cool if DAYS had given Hope a bold and interesting story turn, and I could have bought Hope sabotaging the wedding in some ways (though that would feel like a leap at this point since she’s been on board with Ben and Ciara for a couple of years now), but blowing up a church with Doug, Julie, Shawn, two pregnant women, and a bunch of other relatives in it feels more careless than she would be. Though I could maybe be convinced. The show does tend to steer away from the bold choices they should make but run toward bold choices they shouldn’t (Stevano, Stefan/Gabigail rapemance, etc.), with the exception of the time jump, which was cool.July 25, 2020 at 9:54 am #1203601994
Ciara could’ve used a little more common sense in her scenes with Claire. Claire’s whole family was at the church. Why would she bomb it knowing that their lives would be in jeopardy.
Now that I think about it, it sucks that Eric and Nicole didn’t get the church wedding. Meanwhile, serial killer Ben gets all the glory and half of Salem clapping for him. Very odd indeed.July 27, 2020 at 7:52 am #1203605301
On the one hand, it did seem like Eric and Nicole maybe deserved the big church wedding more. But on the other hand, Nicole’s been married like a dozen times, and being that weddings are more bride focused, Ciara’s definitely a better fit for that type of fanfare. And it’s not like Nicole isn’t also a murderer.
Poor Ciara, though. While it doesn’t exactly make sense that Claire would potentially blow up a bunch of her relatives just to ruin Ciara and Ben’s wedding, I’m sure it feels more plausible to Ciara (and probably most people) to think now that she did this than it was two years ago to think that she tried to burn Ciara alive twice in addition to trying to burn Tripp and Haley alive, and framing Ben for all of it. My main objection would be that Claire doesn’t know how to make a bomb.July 29, 2020 at 9:26 am #1203612388
I thought that Vincent guy was Keanu Reeves. LolJuly 29, 2020 at 9:26 pm #1203614182
Ha! He does have a similar look.
I loved Nicole joking about the elephant statue yesterday when Eric said he’d gotten her a souvenir from their African honeymoon. I’m less thrilled about the way this whole thing with Sami telling Rafe not to adopt Allie’s baby is playing out. For one thing, why would anyone be surprised that Sami went to Rafe and yelled at him about not adopting the baby? Of course she was going to do that! And on top of that, why is everyone acting like it’s some kind of crime? Allie claims that the situation with Rafe and the baby is complicated because of her, but that’s obviously not the full truth, since adopting the baby of your former stepdaughter is weird in and of itself. I’m also not sure why everyone thinks it’s so odd that Rafe doesn’t want to replace the son who was taken away from him with the next baby that gets randomly offered to him in the town square. It’s perfectly reasonable. Then there is Nicole, who I’m sure thinks she’s well intentioned trying to protect Allie’s interest, but also pretty clearly loves any chance to get a one up on Sami, especially when that involves Nicole playing mother to Sami’s daughter. It’s a little surprising no one has said to Allie, “Hey, you know the history between your mom and Nicole, right? And that you acting like Nicole is your new best friend is only going to make things worse, right?” It’s not like Nicole would be any better if the situation was reversed.
