I simply cannot stand any all scenes of Kristen and/or Brady ): I hate the way they write excuses for the criminals on soaps nowadays. Really not enjoying it at all.
Also not enjoying Philip, find him quite boring and useless.
Missing my Will and Sonny too much right how…
No GH due to baseball so I have had to watch Days this week. Some good scenes here and there but these storylines aren’t compelling enough imo.October 2, 2020 at 9:50 pm #1203754537
Right now the only interesting storyline is Sean, Belle, Phillip, Jan, and Xander (I guess you can put Claire in there too). No wonder Kristian Alfonso left – the Hope, Ben, and Ciara storyline has been awful. I am absolutely loving Heather Lindell’s return. I would love it if Farah Fath also returned.October 5, 2020 at 8:40 am #1203760851
I’m growing increasingly irritated with Kristen/Brady scenes as well and everything surrounding Kristen in general. This character is lacking so much of what made her great in the first place. And it frustrates me that the same writing team ruined the character in one direction and is now trying to write circle around that awfulness to excuse the terrible behavior. The show should cut its losses where Kristen is concerned, certainly for the time being. I don’t see any rooting value for her and Brady, and the way that Brady expects everyone to treat Kristen like she hasn’t done all the things she’s done in the last couple of years is pretty gross. Marlena now being expected to treat Kristen like a daughter-in-law is ridiculous. It’s annoying that Melinda Trask is being made out to be a villain for prosecuting Kristen for the attempted murder she committed, when truly all Kristen had to do was not come back to Salem, or, failing that, NOT ASK A COP TO WATCH HER BABY. If Brady wants to be with her, fine I guess, but we shouldn’t have to watch it.
The story surrounding Ciara’s departure has been pretty sloppy as well. At this point, the basics of this kind of thing should be very straightforward, but this feels all over the place, including the bizarre interlude where Vincent thought Ciara was Wendy.
I like what’s happening with the Last Blast crew and their adjacent stories, and I’m interested in what Gwen is doing and the resolution of things with Tripp and Allie. Nicole needs a better story than just being a facilitator for Allie’s story. Gabi and Sami were providing so much entertainment value that having both gone in a short time is a huge loss. Good thing both will be back on soon, because the show could use it.October 5, 2020 at 8:52 am #1203760881
^^^I should clarify, re: Allie/Tripp, I’m pretty sure I’m going to dislike the story when all is said and done, but I at least want to give it a chance. Allie having gotten pregnant because she partied a lot and hooked up with whoever felt perfectly fine without having to throw a rape into it, and the very likely scenario that she’s mistaken in accusing Tripp continues to two unfortunate cultural narratives. (It feels like Allie is being kind of blamed for the rape because of all her drinking/partying, but worse it seems like Allie is accusing the wrong guy, contributing to the idea that victims aren’t to be believed.)October 6, 2020 at 9:28 am #1203763501
I wonder if we will ever learn who the real father of the baby is??? Or is Tripp lying? (I doubt it)…
When I watched Loving’s last 5 months on youtube they had a storyline where Allie (Laura Wright) deliberately falsely accused a man of rape – he had killed Casey, her boyfriend – but she was talked into telling the truth – by a character played by Lisa LoCicero. Days is reminding me of that storyline…
I miss Will and Sonny.October 6, 2020 at 10:08 am #1203763589
It’s looking pretty obvious the guy who raped Allie will be the new hot intern (who Claire will probably fall for). On a side note, I was really bothered by the actress who plays Claire looking at the cue cards nonstop in her scene with Allie on the bench. At least try to make it unnoticeable.October 7, 2020 at 8:24 am #1203765093
I’ve mostly liked Isabel Durant as Claire just fine, but the scenes with Allie did feel somewhat out to sea in terms of Claire’s emotional reactions to things. And yeah, Charlie seems very likely to be the person who actually raped Allie. It feels like they’re gearing up for a story that goes on for a while, but considering that the conflicting stories of Allie and Tripp have basically no grey area, all they’d need to do is run a paternity test on Tripp to see if he’s the baby’s father. But knowing this show and what a bad lawyer Justin is, Tripp will be on his way to Statesville before that happens.October 7, 2020 at 8:41 am #1203765126
I completely disagree with you. I think Isabel Durant is awful as Claire, she almost comes across as a completely new character altogether. I wish Olivia Rose Keegan would return to the role asap, nobody played crazy claire and recovering crazy Claire as good as her. This portrayal of Claire is talked about as recovering crazy, but she shows no signs whatsoever of a character who is was recovering from psychiatric help. Maybe they just need to give her some kind of storyline where she can show what she can do, but so far, she’s done nothing.October 7, 2020 at 9:04 pm #1203766250
I think that shift has more to do with the writing than the actress. It seems like as soon as we learned that Claire wasn’t sabotaging Ben and Ciara’s wedding, they decided to throw out the baby with the bathwater and let Olivia Rose Keegan take fun, crazy Claire with her. Now, Claire isn’t so much a person recovering from issues with mental illness as a person who has a past with mental illness to which she’s sensitive and that can be used to manipulate her. Can you imagine ORK’s Claire being taken in by Jan Spears and her spin? Durant could suffuse more unhingedness into her performances, but I think she’d be fighting the writing and what the show wants to do with the character. In my opinion, they shouldn’t have bothered to recast Claire. They should have just brought in someone else to be Allie’s pal and a young woman about town — Chelsea, Melanie, Stephanie, Chloe’s younger sister Joy, some other young Horton or DiMera or Kiriakis we didn’t know existed, or, in a two-fer, a friend of Allie’s from London who eventually turns out to be someone’s secret child. I know I’m usually all for a recast, but if you’re recasting a character for the purpose of changing them drastically, hello, maybe just make it a different character.October 8, 2020 at 2:39 am #1203766407
Isabel Durant seems like one of those musical theatre actresses with her “showy” acting and the way she speaks. She shouldn’t be playing a dark character like Claire.
As for Mike Manning as Charlie, I kept thinking I recognized him from somewhere. Then I looked him up and I found out from where – he was on The Real World DC and came out as openly bisexual on the show. The last time they got a Real World-er on the show was Kyle Brandt as Phillip, who now co-hosts the morning show on the NFL Network. Maybe they’ll make Charlie bisexual and have an actual bisexual actor play a bisexual character? Just a thought…
On a side note, I was reading some fan theories that Charlie may be part of the DiMera family. Could be EJ’s son or even Ava Vitale’s son. It will be interesting to see the direction they go in because it definitely looks like he’ll be Allie’s baby daddy.October 8, 2020 at 4:00 pm #1203767570
I saw a headline somewhere yesterday saying that Allie’s attacker has a family connection to Tripp. If we’re right and Charlie is Allie’s baby’s father, Charlie also being Ava’s son would make that click into place. I’m not familiar with Mike Manning — I think the only season of The Real World I saw any of was Kyle Brandt’s. It’s funny he came across as a jerk on that show, but I’ve met him a couple of times, and he’s been very nice. Manning seems charming so far, but it’s hard to get very invested in a character who appears to exist to be thrown under the bus.October 12, 2020 at 10:27 pm #1203774944
Uh oh. The show has halted production for two weeks following a positive COVID test from a member of the production staff. Hopefully it’s an isolated incident that didn’t spread to anyone else and that person recovers soon.
Despite the incredible head start the show originally had, they are starting to get close to the wire after this two week break. Well, fairly close, though considering they’re still airing pre-hiatus episodes into the week and they’ve been back in production for six weeks now, there’s still a decent buffer.October 15, 2020 at 7:09 am #1203780205
It was really sad seeing yesterday’s episode as Hope’s final appearance on the show. Of course, this wasn’t the show’s intention to be sending the character off this way, but it was unfortunate it turned out like that. I really hope they write something sensible to explain Hope not being around anymore — I’m fine with something like she couldn’t accept that Ciara was dead, so she went off to look for her and then disappeared — and don’t waste a bunch of time pretending like she’s around and just off screen or acting like she’s just not coming home for holidays, weddings, etc. A tweet from Ron Carlivati made it sound like Melissa Reeves’ last air date has also happened already, though if it has, at least that character is still around.
I’m interested to see where things go once we get to things that were filmed and especially written after the COVID break. The show is feeling pretty rag-tag now, sort of lacking in focus, a lot of things not really making sense.October 15, 2020 at 9:33 am #1203780583
I am not enjoying the show right now but the show tends to bounce back on a dime – hoping it will do so soon!October 19, 2020 at 9:27 am #1203788335
Curious to know who others think are the four major leads as far as Best Actor and Best Actress goes from this show? So many different actors feel borderline to me – they get some storylines but also have long absences with little to do…
I hope Tripp is innocent! I assume that he is… Lucas Adams is doing excellent work.
