I am very disappointed to learn of a major character’s death ): She is one of my all-time favorite daytime actresses and there is speculation that her character is killed by Will of all people. I had just read that she will be getting more air time so I am assuming it’s her exit story. The “terrible night” when Sarah and Eric’s baby was born is supposed to be the night of her death. It explains a line of dialogue in the time jump promo delivered by Sonny. Of course as nobody actually ever dies on soaps anymore (except for Alan and A.J. on GH) perhaps all is not lost (she also plays another character so you never know…)

^^I hadn’t heard anything about a major character death, but based on this, I know exactly who we’re talking about. Putting aside that particular bit of information and the whole production shutdown/cast released from their contracts business . . .

I liked the first episode of the time jump a lot. The surprise at the end with Will being Ben’s cell mate was good. Very intrigued about that and about what all happened during the terrible night when Sarah’s baby was born. I’m also curious about what happened to Haley. Did she commit suicide? It would be interesting if she did, considering she’d already tried it once. I look forward to Nicole and Eric breaking up when he finds out that she kept the secret about the baby’s paternity from him. I love Nicole’s look and that she’s apparently running Basic Black, which is maybe with Titan now? I also love Daddy Xander and his glasses.

Curious to see what’s happening with Gina, Eli/Lani/Gabi, and Kristen/Brady. I’m almost scared to find out on those last two.

So I figured that Ciara’s apology was a con job on Victor and that she and Ben have a plan!

So Will made a “stupid decision” that led to the death of his mother-in-law Adrienne – Sonny might start dating Evan the male nanny, and somehow Will winds up in the same cell with his ‘murderer’! (:

Hope is still “Princess Gina” and has lucked out with Jennifer not remembering it was her that pushed her off the balcony. Is “Steffy” Stefano or Stefan? Or someone else?

Rolfe doctored the footage that got Eve convicted.

Nice episode, well played and well produced! (:

I thought it was a horrible episode. Kristian Alfonso’s faux “accent” was some of the worst I’ve ever heard. Are we really supposed to believe this male nanny will come between Will and Sonny? Rightttt….

That Princess Gina accent has always been crazy — it’s basically just over-enunciating half of your words — but it has gotten especially wonky now. I think Kristian Alfonso is playing an internal struggle between Hope and Gina that doesn’t really exist in the writing right now.

It cracks me up that any time Sonny is even remotely available some guy immediately comes around to start hitting on him, while Will’s only other love interest has been Paul. I like Evan the Manny just fine so far. I can’t really imagine he’s a viable threat to Will and Sonny, even with Will in prison for apparently killing Adrienne (though it also sounded like maybe Adrienne is more presumed dead than dead dead?).

And apparently DAYS is jealous of GH maintaining a consistent swath of characters in prison, and so they’ve now drummed up a few of their own.

Lol Lani and Kristen as nuns. Sure that will last as long as Eric being a priest.

It feels very retro for Kristen and Lani to be hiding from their lives in a convent!

Having finished the first week of the jump, I’m not quite as sold on it as I hoped I’d be. The first few episodes had a lot of interesting threads and mysteries, and I’m curious to know what happened or will happen with a lot of those. I’m less enthusiastic about the later part of the week. For one thing, the continued trope of “Surprise! These people are a couple!” got kind of annoying after a while, especially when it happened with Kayla and Justin, who I think make a terrible couple in theory. I don’t know what fans want to see that.

Gabi feuding with Chad and Abigail is fun, and I don’t mind Gabi being the boss, although it honestly doesn’t make much sense to me. Where’s Kate? She’s maybe the only regular character who hasn’t shown up or even been mentioned. But the real problem with Gabi is the same as it was before — she’s still being just psycho with no redeeming or grounding qualities to her. I wasn’t surprised that she and Eli are a couple now. A triangle with her, Eli and Lani would have been cool, but Gabi has no ground to stand on once everything she’d done is revealed. It’s amazing Eli could be with her now considering everything she’s done with his family that he knows about.

Also, I don’t know what exactly they’re up to with Stefano (possibly someone who looks like Stefan and had memories implanted by Rolf?), but I wish they’d just leave it alone. The ending they gave us for Stefano, which was that he’s almost definitely dead but there’s still the specter of him and the possibility he’s out there, was kind of perfect. Mucking around in that more doesn’t sit well with me.

I also fully don’t understand why Doug would have changed the restaurant from a fine dining establishment with a bar to what appears to be a healthy lunch counter.

The Princess Gina stuff could also be more fun. I think they’re leaning in the right direction with the character, but if she’s going to continue to be around and scheming, not a path I would have taken but okay, I want to ridiculous snob energy, a little more like Ivy Crane or Rebecca Hotchkiss from Passions.

Overall, though, I think the time jump has been an improvement and helped bring some spark to stories that were feeling lifeless or just terrible.

Days was pre-empted due to a local news story and unlike Y&R and B&B (CBS) it was not shown on an alternative station ): so I was disappointed. I watched Y&R instead today.

I am liking that Casey Moss is being given good material after a long period where his character became dull dull dull…

I don’t enjoy the Princess Gina character – I was an east coast soap watcher and only intermittently watched (for Sami) back in earlier pre-2011 times (once all of the east coast soaps were pretty much all gone). Unless they are going to recast Stefano it feels pointless to me.

I have read that Kate is doing something surprising (career-wise) but I do not know what it is…

I really wish they would show what happened to Adrienne – that’s the story I most want to see play out.

To my surprise, I really liked yesterday’s episode. Maybe I just need to go into these with a more positive mindset. Or maybe there are a couple of storylines or characters that will just taint a whole episode for me.

So far, Marlena is winning the time jump for showing up and immediately telling ‘Hope’ that it’s time for her to go. I’m glad Marlena is finally here, but who knows what unpleasantness Gina has in store for her. Well, Gina and whoever this Stefano person is (Stefan/Brandon Barash seems like the only semi-reasonable option).

It was great to finally see Kate as well, and to get a little more backstory on what’s happening with Will and Sonny. The flashback scene with Sonny visiting Will at the prison and not even looking at him was pretty heartbreaking. Seeing the two of them so disconnected makes it easier to buy Sonny potentially dating someone else. (The Sonny/Evan scenes were fine, but it’s not like their chemistry was setting the stage on fire or anything.)

I didn’t hate the Kayla/Justin scenes as much as I thought I would. It still feels weird, but I think if we’d seen more buildup to it, I’d actually be okay with them. It’s going to take some time, but it’s easy to believe they were spending time together, being there for each other, and something just sparked. I think they would have been enjoyable scenes to see them growing closer, so hopefully we’ll get some of them.

The Chad/Abigail scenes were good also, and I like that Jack and Abigail are running The Spectator for the time being. Do we know yet who is in charge at the police station? I think Rafe is the only person who was a cop at this time last year and still is one, so maybe him?

It was very interesting hearing Ron Carlivati talk about the time jump on the Soap Opera Digest podcast from this past Friday. He talked about having wanted to do a time jump since he was writing OLTL, but only now did he get approval and the stars align to be able to make it work. He also considered doing it a year ago when Marlena was in her coma, but the timing wasn’t right.

One of the things that stood out to me was the discussion of how the writers decided to kill Adrienne. Apparently, Judi Evans has a different full-time job and isn’t all that available for filming episodes. Because they can’t have her on very much anyway, from a practical point of view, they thought she was a good candidate as a person to have died in the time jump and produce some drama there. He also said that since she plays another character, they could still bring the actress back whenever.

Also, James Read will be back on as Clyde, which I don’t think anyone really wanted, but okay.

What’s her full-time job? This is interesting to me because it reminds me of Chrishell Stause, who does real estate full-time and acts part-time (she’s also on that Netflix real estate “reality” show).

They didn’t say what the full-time job is! But I’m very curious. I know for a while she had been selling burial plots, but I think that was fairly flexible, and this sounds like something more scheduled.

I like that the show has already established that Bonnie’s been out of prison for a while (long enough to write a tell-all book), so if they want to they can easily say it’s Bonnie rather than Adrienne who was killed. Considering how much Sonny has been talking about not feeling like Adrienne is really dead, it would make sense. It was nice seeing Hattie, and great seeing some Sonny/Chad scenes, even though they were eating their lunch at a hilariously tiny table.

Is there a fan contingent for Clyde? He’s so awful, and while I know the show needs villains, I just can’t stand him. He was back for ONE EPISODE and had already had a baby kidnapped. Two episodes in he’s threatening Will. I still think it’s funny every time he refers to Jordan as Tammy Sue, but otherwise I have no interest in seeing him at all.

As much as it would make sense for Abe to reinstall Hope as police commissioner, I truly cannot believe Gina has been the police commissioner this whole time, especially since she’s clearly not paying much attention to her job. Rafe’s detective skills are the pits if he hasn’t figured something out by now.

I have to say, the show really surprised me by having Nicole admit to Eric that Mackenzie is his daughter and that she’s been lying about it for over a year! I thought she’d keep on keeping that secret until something else exposed it, and then make excuses about it. Maybe she’s changed more than I give her credit for, and it was cool to see something like that come out in a less expected way. Greg Vaughan was very good in the scenes, and Arianne Zucker was excellent. Between this and her performances as Kristen, she’s really been Emmy worthy this year. Also, I’ve been enjoying Nicole’s post-time jump style.

The scenes where Justin told Jennifer about Adrienne’s death and his subsequent relationship with Kayla were also good, I thought. Wally Kurth was very subtle but very good, and it’s nice to see someone having the same averse reaction to Justin and Kayla that I’m sure a lot of the audience had. The scenes with Ben and Will, where at the end Will tells Ben that he believes him about not killing Jordan, were also good. Since Ben’s been back in town, the show has of course acknowledged that Ben killed Will, but there’s never any mention or indication that of how Ben was good friends with Will and Sonny before that. The show essentially writes Ben as a person who didn’t exist before he was a serial killer. And I loved Ciara getting the baby back.

It’s good having Abigail and Chad back, and I’d like to be seeing more of Kate. As much as I love Casey Moss, I’m not at all interested in JJ’s drug addiction storyline, and, while I’m liking some of the storyline surrounding it, I don’t care to see Gabi on screen being a psychopath. I think other than that, the time jump has come around to working for me.

Those of us who thought it was Steve it looks like we have been correct about it. Implanted memories courtesy of Dr. Rolfe?

I like that Abigail believes Eve. I also enjoyed Eve with Hattie today.

I wonder if they will ever bring back Paul?

Kristian Alfonso’s Princess Gina accent gets worse and worse. I’m not sure if she’s actually trying to do a British accent or if it’s just something she made up.

I always liked Deidre Hall’s sister as Hattie better than Deidre playing her herself. I guess it does save them money and I don’t think her sister wants to be an actress anyway.

The time jump has definitely made Days better than the atrocious last few months, but some storylines need to go. The manny getting in between Will and Sonny… umm, I don’t think so. JJ as a drug addict… I couldn’t care less. Maybe they should have us care about his character again and then I’ll care about his drug addiction.
