I enjoyed Xander and Sarah’s scenes. I don’t like the short hair on her though.

There’s something slightly off about Phillip’s face (has he had fillers?) and that scowl just makes it worse. I’m always distracted by this in his scenes. I wonder where they are going with this Gabi thing. She tends to have chemistry with most of her leading men but this might be one time where even she can’t generate any heat.

I haven’t heard anything about Melissa Reeves returning as Jennifer, so I don’t know what’s happening there. This show of course has a history of shuffling people off screen with fairly temporary exits when a veteran actor quits and just having no plan for what to do if that person doesn’t come back fairly quickly. Will Jennifer be in Boston with Mike sorting out Laura’s estate for the next three years? Will we hear literally anything about why Hope isn’t home once Ciara is found? Will something happen to keep Eric in the Congo (I think that’s where he is?) more permanently, or will he just keep extending his trip two months at a time? These are just the situations they’re dealing with currently, not to mention what they did with Peter Reckell and have done with Stephen Nichols.

The promos for this week look like a setup for a pretty good murder mystery, and Sami will be back! It’s also nice to see Gabi getting more mixed up with people in Salem. Things may be looking up. I’m also glad that the show has at least drawn a pretty clear line between Gwen (who in the end at least did express some regret privately for Laura being dead) and Charlie (who is not at all repentant and only trying to get away with this crimes).

So happy to hear that Sami will be back!!! I hope it’s a longer visit this time!!!

Has anyone from the show mentioned online if they have submitted for Emmy consideration??? Sometimes they will let their fans know what they have chosen as a submission…

I haven’t heard anything about actors submitting for Emmys (from this show or any others). DAYS will probably have the murkiest category placements, between the number of borderline lead/supporting performers they have and supporting/guest performers.

Isabel Durant did a really good job in the scenes between Claire and Charlie in yesterday’s episode. Also, I got a kick out of the scenes where Roman noted more than once that he owes Tripp an apology, then seemed to be making no effort to actually apologize. Oh, and it’s kind of weird how Carrie and Austin are back together. I guess when a couple breaks up off-screen it’s fine for them to reunite off-screen as well, and probably some fans are happy to hear it. If nothing else, I suppose it implies that neither of them is showing up to be involved in other stories anytime soon (Carrie with Rafe or Austin with Abigail), but also made it even weirder in hindsight that when Carrie came back to town for Caroline’s funeral, she had sex with Rafe, who was then put back into couple-y scenes with Hope. How many of her nieces would he have needed to sleep with to put that pairing in the ground?

I missed the ending of yesterday’s episode – Belle had come in and Claire said she had taped the confession and Charlie had just run over to the phone at the time that Belle did… hope they start from there today!! (The Governor keeps on interrupting with news conferences at the worst possible times!).

Mostly I am bored during most of the episodes and perk up when my few remaining favorites show up!

Freeman, at the end of yesterday’s episode, Charlie (unfortunately) was able to get the phone and delete the recording, and then left (after Claire threatened him).

On Wed. episode at the end I was thinking it was Sami – the Governor interrupted so I didn’t see all of yesterday’s episode, was it Sami???

I will miss Mike Manning’s Charlie, he did a great job with the role. I would have preferred a different story but his murder was what I expected…

We don’t know who showed up at the end of the Wednesday episode. They repeated the scene as the opening to Thursday’s episode, but then immediately skipped to the next morning, where we picked up other characters. Samantha didn’t show up until Rafe saw her at the apartment in the final seconds of the episode.

I think the murder mystery will be good for the show. There seemed to be a lot of voices online kind of insisting that Charlie needed to die, the major argument being that the show is already littered with reformed (or in some cases not so much) rapists and murderers. I don’t really agree with that, but I think this is a kind of story that Ron does pretty well. He came in halfway through the Deimos murder mystery, pinned it on Nicole, and then got tons of story out of that. There was also a lot of story that came out of the Andre murder mystery. I’m excited to see where this one goes. The setup episodes were well done.

Also it’s great that Sami is back, and I’m looking forward to Jackee’s debut Monday. I’m also eager to see what hilarity ensues if/when Ben and Claire try to go to “Susan” for help with using the box of stuff from Rhodes’ apartment to find Ciara.

I don’t want to dwell on it, as I know set limitation is a budget thing, but it’s always weird when there are sets of characters who live in the same place but are in different stories that don’t really interact with one another. Like how by the time Marlena and John got back to her penthouse and Brady and “Susan” were totally cleared out, and Marlena was talking about being frantic not knowing where John was and it seems like Brady and “Susan” were just doing nothing? Asleep I guess?

I really hope Mike Manning has success elsewhere – or has an identical twin brother for Days!!! I know we will see him in flashbacks for awhile but I felt his character had potential and I really like the actor.

Glad that Sami is back! Hoping the Governor doesn’t interrupt today’s show and she is on again today!!!

There really aren’t any other stories that are exciting me at the moment.

Mike Manning did a great job as Charlie. I would have been in favor of doing something other than killing the character, but now that he’s dead, I think they need to just let him stay that way. Not every character is worth being resurrected, literally or figuratively, and DAYS has unkilled so many people lately that they need to give it a rest. A twin is a fun thought, but the show is kind of struggling with both Jake and Bonnie in that it seems they often want to be writing for Stefan and Adrienne instead.

It’s kind of a shame that once people found out that Charlie had kidnapped Ava and likely raped Allie, he never had any interaction with the Titan stuff again. It’s a bit of a missed opportunity to add more layers to the mystery, but maybe we’ll see some flashbacks to some of that stuff. I particularly would have liked to see another scene between him and Xander.

Hooray, hurricane Sami is back!!! I think she is likely thinking that Allie shot Charlie. I am wondering aloud if they will pull a fast one and have Charlie be shot due to something around Philip’s predicament??? I would rather a major character be the culprit personally, and someone in the Allie/Charlie storyline…

Still I must admit I am mostly bored these days with Days ): ): ):

It could be interesting if Charlie’s murder turned out to be a mob thing or something unrelated to the rape storyline, but it would also be a bit of a copout. Ron has done a good job of pinning murder mysteries on actual characters and creating consequences (though the consequences have yet to include prison), and hopefully this will be the case here.

Yesterday’s episode was a good example of what I mean about the show having too many stories and not pacing them particularly well. They just kicked off a murder mystery involving a bunch of characters, and Sami just got back to town. It feels like that should be just about all people are talking about now, but because Charlie’s murder is the second one to happen in Salem in a matter of weeks, we had to detour into the story with Gwen killing Laura and Abigail wanting revenge, which at this point I just don’t care much about. Also, the Kristen/Susan stuff has been funny, but it shouldn’t be getting quite so much airplay, mostly because it’s already hard to believe no one’s figured it out, and it’s only been a few episodes. Stacy Haiduk’s doing a great job with it, though.

I didn’t enjoy yesterday’s episode at all; I found it incredibly dull and I find Kristen too irritating to enjoy. I think Stacey Haiduk is great as Susan but a did as Kristen. The Abigail/Gabi scenes fell flat for me.

I agree about Stacy being great as Susan but a dud as Kristen. Kristen exudes sex appeal and vulnerability and Stacy has neither. Eileen is being wasted on Y&R!
