Yeah, kind of makes me think he has no plans to do any of the interesting things I suggested regarding Lani’s father (though of course anyone could be using another name).

I enjoyed the scenes between EJ and Allie. I’d been wanting to see their interaction for a while, mostly because it seemed like Allie had a lot of resentment about the years Sami spent searching for EJ, so it was nice to see that things between them were friendly.

Gabi is too good of a character to continue to just be saddled with Jake and Phillip. I liked her verbal sparring with Ava yesterday, but now especially with Sami having just left, I feel like she needs to be doing something.

Marla Gibbs was delightful in her scenes with Jackee. I hope the show submits her for the Guest Emmy category and she can finally win an Emmy.

    Yeah, she was really fun.

I’m liking Johnny so far as well. I liked sending Chanel shirtless torso pics like 12 hours after meeting her.

If I am understanding it E.J. is going to help Xander get out of prison in exchange for giving back the million dollars and it looks like Xander will work for E.J.? I do not get why Gwen doesn’t just tell the truth!

The Carson Boatman interview on Dishin’ Days was a good one – he seems like a really decent young man (27). It was fun when they were talking about Johnny’s complicated history! I didn’t realize that Johnny had a glass eye! (; ha ha ha! His experiences with auditioning was really interesting – he had auditioned for the role of Tripp!

Where does Days go from here? They really need some stronger new storylines going forward.

I believe the agreement EJ and Xander reached was that EJ would get Xander out of his legal trouble in exchange for the million dollars back, but that EJ, as co-CEO of DiMera, would force Brady and Nicole to rehire Xander at Basic Black, which DiMera owns. I can’t imagine this will go over well with either of them, but I welcome any opportunity EJ wants to take to mess with Brady. I do feel this writing staff’s grip on EJ might be a little iffy — his repeatedly calling Sami a whore and a slut and then saying he wishes Xander had killed her feels off. It’s not too extreme necessarily, but just feels like the wrong lane. Xander accepting EJ’s deal feels like a real story convenience, though I did appreciate EJ asking when was the last time Justin won a case and then Xander noting that Sami beat him in that custody case without even being a lawyer.

I had totally forgotten about when poor little Johnny had that issue with his eye! The little actors who used to play Johnny were so adorable, and them with their eye patches just always made me feel so sad. Anyway, I like Carson Boatman so far. My only issue is that I wish the show hadn’t skewed so old with both Allie and Johnny. I complained about them making Allie a full-grown adult, even though Lindsay Arnold looks young enough to play a high school student. Now the actor playing Johnny is only a few years younger than Chandler Massey, even though Will is so much older than Allie and Johnny. Oh well.

I am watching Days right now and feeling completely bored out of my mind. The writing is off imo, these stories don’t move me or matter to me. This hasn’t been a good week as far as I am concerned…

Jamey Giddens (formerly of Daytime Confidential) has joined the DAYS writing team. His work starts airing in November.

He was part of the writing staff for Beyond Salem as well.

It’s exciting that Jamey Giddens is on the writing staff. He’s such a fan of the show and its history, and I’m sure will be a really great influence on the writing of the show.

There are a few things the show is doing that just really aren’t going to catch my interest. The Justin/Bonnie relationship is the biggest. It’s just so dumb. I’m also very over Jake as a character and his relationship with Gabi. I don’t know if we’re meant to think otherwise, but the way he keeps suggesting that he should be CEO of Titan is beyond annoying. He hasn’t proven to have the ability to do any job at Titan, from CEO to janitorial staff.

The way the show is writing EJ in relation to Johnny also feels pretty dumb. The thing of the father wanting the son to take over the family business is classic, but even EJ coercing Sami into sleeping with him to save Lucas’s life was done with more finesse and subtlety than the way EJ is trying to make Johnny take a job at DiMera. And just because Johnny happened to show up? He could have been asking Anna and Tony for money for his movie while they were in the U.K., and EJ would have been unaware and unconcerned.

I did like the conversation between Nicole and Roman. So many people have been giving Nicole a pass on her cheating and allowing her to shift the conversation to blaming Sami, and I’m glad Roman didn’t do that. I’ve also come to like the triangle with Allie, Chanel and Tripp more than I was. The show seems to be exploring Allie’s complicated feelings about the situation while things have gotten quite awkward between Chanel and Tripp.

When Calista showed up looking for a million dollars I had a feeling that the money that Xander has, a million dollars, would come into play…

While I loved loved loved the Beyond Salem promo, the Days promo for this week did not excite or even interest me…

Completely agree about Bonnie and Justin. It’s just absolutely TERRIBLE. I’m just hoping that eventually it will be revealed that she’s Adrienne, who was a character I really liked. Bonnie was fine back in the day as a comic relief, but putting her and Justin together makes absolutely no sense at all. I always switch off the TV when they appear.

The Justin/Bonnie/Calista farce has been a mess. Steve is considered a “jerk” for not initially forgiving Bonnie when his feelings are justified!

I really didn’t enjoy Days this past week. I did like that Gwen finally confessed to Jack but other than that it was a dud week for me. Perhaps they spent all their energies on Beyond Salem? These current stories are dull imo, the overall arcs aren’t working. The actors as usual give their all but the material isn’t serving them to the best of their abilities.

I can’t stand Gwen. AT ALL. What a poorly conceived character. Does not give me one ounce of empathy.

Gwen was fine in the very beginning when she was friends with Claire in Bayview. As soon as they insisted on tying her to a core family and Re-Ron over propped her, she’s been a dud. They messed up Jack too, in an effort to get the audience to accept her. And killing Laura Horton was a big fat fail!

Agree with you, syrus80. Especially about killing off Laura 🙁 and ruining Jack. Between his a-hole amnesia stint and now Gwen, I have to say I am not enjoying this once-favorite character.
