    Looks like the undead will be shaking things up for more than just one day. Charlie, Nick and Deimos are wreaking havoc with various characters. Love seeing Mike Manning back on the show, just wish it was permanent, and that kiss between Deidre Hall’s Marlena and Blake Berris’s Nick was hot! (;

    The Halloween episodes have been really fun so far! I usually find the fantasy episode they do each Halloween to be a little much, but I think the combination of giving themselves several episodes to play around with things and making the events real to the show with real consequences has been great. I love seeing Blake Berris back especially, but also Mike Manning and Vincent Irizarry. I thought the dead characters were just going to be frightening and annoying people — I certainly didn’t expect that Charlie’s reanimated corpse was going to kill Carmine! (Good riddance!) It’s good that the plot is being moved forward by these undead shenanigans. Deidre Hall continues to be such a hoot as MarDevil, as she’s being called. The taunting at Tom and Alice’s grave was good, and I loved when Nick was debating between “sir” and “ma’am,” to which MarDevil replies, “I’m not a real person. I don’t have pronouns.”

    Outside of Halloween stuff, I’ve enjoyed the other parts of the last few episodes as well. It’s always nice seeing the Abe/Nicole relationship maintained, and it’s always funny when Rafe and Nicole run into each other and need to get coffee or something instead of just avoiding one another like they said they would. I also liked people catching up on the things happening in town, like Nicole telling Abe about her dating EJ, and Belle and Shawn learning that Johnny was making a movie about Marlena’s possession. The Anna/Tony scenes were fun, too. I laughed so so hard at Anna suggesting she should play Kristen in the movie.

    Regarding recasts, I wonder if DAYS could get Laura Kai Chen back as Melinda Trask? She definitely was my preferred choice in that role, no offense to Tina Huang, who’s good but just not as good. And they’ve thrown so much good money after bad at this point bringing Stacy Haiduk back again and again as Kristen. I do love Raven Bowens as Chanel, though, so that one’s a hit for me.

    I would love for Laura Kai Chen to come back. She had so much chemistry with James Scott. Would like to see her interact with Nu EJ.

    Stacy can go! I’m tired of Weepy Kristen.

    Was that it for the undead characters? I enjoyed seeing Blake and Mike (Nick and Charlie) again, but I would have preferred to see Mike, um, looking gorgeous! Needless to say he was not looking his best! (;

    I realize that I am not enjoying a single storyline at the moment, but I watch for the actors anyway…

    LOL, they really gave Charlie the most gruesome look, and he’s been dead the last time! His teeth were all gross, whereas Nick’s teeth looked great. Seeing Blake Berris menacing Gabi and Jake reminded me of Peter on GH, and I feel like even though Peter is a terrible character from a writing perspective, Blake would have played the part better than Wes Ramsey is.

    The undead characters were fun for a few episodes, but I’m pretty sure that’s all we’re getting from them. It was funny seeing the varied reactions. I like that some people were pretty immediately willing to just accept that this dead person was back, since dead people are constantly coming back anyway, while others were understandably very skeptical. But it was a little weird how they left things with those characters before jumping into entirely different stuff in yesterday’s episode. I want to know what people are going to believe about those undead characters. Like Nicole is really the only person who saw Deimos, and she was willing to chalk it up to her imagination, but Charlie killed someone (for which Ava is on the hook) and attacked Tripp and Allie, and several people, including the trick-or-treaters at the Pub that Kate mentioned, saw Nick, so those can’t just be forgotten, right?

    I’m glad Rafe seems done with Ava and that he slept with Nicole. I don’t love Rafe and Nicole as a pair, but there really isn’t a better option for him right now. Well, unless they put him back with Kate, but I know they’re not doing that, and I think I’m in the minority in enjoying that pairing anyway. Plus I’d rather they just get Kate and Roman back together.

    Also glad that Abigail and Chad are finally onto Gwen’s lie about the baby. I’m looking forward to that confrontation. Melinda now extorting Xander’s money from him, in exchange for not blowing Gwen “sky high” feels absurd? For one thing, it feels like a crime (this after Steve waltzed into the police station and told Melinda he was planning to harbor a fugitive unless she released two other criminals, which she did), and for another, when will people stop trying to take poor Xander’s million dollars?

    It was nice to finally see Maggie and Victor together again. Victor’s reaction to Bonnie and Gwen getting released was so funny, and I also liked the exchange about Victor not having friends. Honestly, though, Bonnie did terrible things to Maggie and Victor both, and even if they got around to forgiving her, there’s no reason for either of them to like her or want to let her and Justin get married at the house, and there is certainly no reason Victor should have gone out of his way to get the charges dropped against her when she stole a million dollars and then shot and killed someone.

    Victor was the MVP of the Thursday episode – so funny! (: I enjoyed the impromptu wedding.

    I don’t like Xander being blackmailed by Trask, and as the only person who prefers Gwen to Abigail (at least Marci’s Abigail – I loved Kate Mansi’s version of her), I’m not too thrilled with her secret coming out in the way that is happening – I would have preferred for Gwen to have told Jack on her own. btw, what happened to Xander having to give the money back to E.J.? I may have missed some dialogue about that.

    Pretty dull episodes. ):

    Wanting to start a non-profit to help undocumented immigrants is a noble use of a million dollars, but, firstly, if you’re the DA in a town you can probably have helped your secret daughter with her undocumented status without needing to start a whole non-profit for it, and, secondly, it feels outlandish for Melinda, the DA, to decide she’s just going to blackmail someone on their way out of lockup. But I enjoyed the confrontation scenes with Gwen, Jack and Abigail. They could have been better — Chad chiming in was so eye-rolling because, much like anything he’s complained about with EJ, this is yet another situation where he was doing absolutely nothing to help and now wants to get in on the benefits, and even knowing what Gwen did and how terrible it was, Jack’s reaction reminded me of how he reacted when Abigail revealed the secret of his affair with Kate a year ago. He’s such a bad father! But still, I liked them.

    Oh, and the reason Xander didn’t have to return the money to EJ is because EJ had him thrown back in jail and rescinded his Basic Black contract. He decided he’d rather punish Xander than just wait until the money cleared from Bonnie’s case, so the deal was off.

    It looks like things are going off the rails this week with the Brady/Chloe/Phillip story and the possession story.

    Happy 56th anniversary – Days Of Our Lives!!!! (: I have seen the first ever episode which aired on November 8, 1965 (online) and in the first scene Julie is arrested for shoplifting! She’s still stirring things up all these years later! (;

    At first I was thinking that SuDevil was really Kristen in disguise but then I remembered that Kristen is at the police station. Stacey Haiduk is great as Susan but terrible as Kristen imo – why is that?

    Really not enjoying the possession storyline – I heard it might end at Christmas time? Can’t happen soon enough for me!

    Is it just me, or are these MarDevil/Brady scenes super awkward?!

    LOL, MarDevil definitely seems to have thrown subtlety out the window! Brady’s face during those scenes was pretty funny. Imagine your stepmom (the only mother you’ve ever had) telling you to just bang your ex-wife on the conference table of the office where you both work. Awkward indeed!

    Gotta love Susan coming back to town and immediately heading, not to see her beloved son EJ, but to be a lunatic about Ciara and Ben’s baby. I was amused how totally done with Susan Ciara seemed almost immediately. Also, maybe it’s just me, but it feels like the performance as Susan is now just a bit too much. The voice seemed weirdly like a bit of a baby voice in a way it didn’t before? It feels a little like they’re working overtime to distinguish Susan from Kristen, which is very unnecessary with these two. It reminded me a little of when Y&R decided to have Michelle Stafford play Sheila, and then we had scenes of Phyllis being a happy homemaker in a way that felt absurdly out of character. But anyway, I look forward to seeing an EJ/Susan scene. I assume that’s coming.

    Ava telling Rafe about what happened with Carmine getting stabbed made me think of the Cell Block Tango in Chicago, where all the ladies are telling stories about why they aren’t guilty of murder. Rafe seemed unmoved. But I like that now he’s putting pieces together and realizing that maybe these dead people really were walking around wreaking havoc. There were quite a few funny moments yesterday actually. Chloe’s reaction to Rafe and Nicole having had sex on the very table where she was working and eating was great.

    I have to say, though, I would have liked something more celebratory or commemorative throughout the episode, not just the lovely cake at the end, to celebrate the anniversary.

    Thanks for the appearance totals, Freeman! Impressive that Isabel Durant is still so high on that list, despite having left town months ago.

    Alison Sweeney was on the Today Show yesterday to promote her upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie Open By Christmas (the market for Christmas movies is truly insane), and apparently she said we should be seeing her back on DAYS soon, like in the next couple of weeks, which is very exciting!

    I loved the scenes between Chanel and Johnny yesterday, both with her teasing him about taking forever on his delivery and then reading scenes from his script as Celeste and Stefano. It makes me sad, though, that the show talks about Brandon all the time but will never bring him back. The excuse that he’s on safari with Celeste and they’re basically best friends now is quite amusing, though.

    I wish they would bring back Tanya Boyd for even a short guest appearance as Celeste.

    While I was watching the show I was realizing just how much I dislike the writing and one of the reasons is that the show feels like the characters all belong in junior high – their emotional maturity is at that level! Some of the actors elevate their material to such a degree that I continue to watch (today that was John Aniston and Paul Telfer for me).

    I wonder if they have reached out to Tanya Boyd and asked her? Sometimes they just don’t want to come back and that’s o.k. but one would hope they were at least asked.

    Looking forward to the possession story ending ASAP – my understanding is that it will drag on until Christmas time.
