It seemed to me like partss of the episode were cut out. The scene where Abby and Will were talking, suddenly cut to black like a commercial break, and then a new scene started. I think perhaps a technical glitch?
Also, I wish the writers would have gone a different way than the whole texting and driving storyline, I really think they could’ve done better, but that’s just me. Also, this “awful night” as they call it, did Jordan die this night too? I read something that said 3 people die this night, and I would assume the 3 would be Adrienne, Hailey and Kristen’s baby ( or swapped baby, if the storyline goes that direction ). So I wonder when Jordan dies?January 21, 2020 at 3:58 pm #1203297521
Jordan had already died before the time jump – Ben found the body.
It is clear that Will only assumes that he killed Adrienne and I already know who actually killed her. I did think the texting while driving was putting it on pretty thick…
Yes, I believe several scenes were cut from the episode; I wonder why?January 21, 2020 at 8:23 pm #1203298024
I must have missed an episode somewhere along the way, i fell behind and had to watch the episodes on dailymotion, thought i got them all but maybe not, i remember Ben having the flashback after the time jump of finding Jordan’s body. But I didn’t realize that the murder happened before the time jump, i thought it happened somewhere after Jennifer went into the coma. I might have to go re-watch a couple of episodes lolJanuary 22, 2020 at 10:14 am #1203298919
I rewatched the January 21st episode on globaltv.com and it wasn’t missing any parts, it was just a glitch on the part who uploaded it to dailymotion, who missed out on a few scenes when uploading.January 22, 2020 at 11:14 am #1203299025
Zander thinks that Maggie caused the accident and Will thinks he did – maybe neither of them caused the accident? (Maybe Summer?) – we haven’t actually seen exactly what happened!
The flashbacks to the 1980’s with Justin and Adrienne made me think about how long I have watched Judi Evans – as Beth on Guiding Light, then Adrienne on Days, then Paulina (1991-99) on Another World, then Bonnie (and Adrienne again) on Days (: Also of course that Wally Kurth is the only actor on two soaps and constantly seen on both!
I thought Paul Telfer was really great on today’s episode!January 22, 2020 at 4:21 pm #1203299467
I am hoping that it turns out to be Summer, and that’s exactly what I was thinking. I feel like she had anger towards Sarah, and tried to run both her and Maggie off the road out of spite.January 23, 2020 at 9:23 am #1203300232
I just saw the last two episodes yesterday — I had to wait to watch the second half of Tuesday’s episode on demand because of the news interruptions, but then thankfully got all of yesterday’s on the DVR.
So far, this week has been really good, and the performances have been great. The scene of Will trying to text or call Sami while he was driving was, I thought, executed really well in terms of him looking back and forth between his phone and the road, though yeah, it was taking forever.
I’ve also been hoping that there’s more to the story than what appears to have happened, which is Maggie getting drunk and then causing the accident that killed Adrienne. For one, I don’t believe that Maggie would have gotten loaded and then started driving herself around. Also, logistically, it doesn’t make sense that she would be driving in the opposite direction of Adrienne and Sarah, who were also coming from the Kiriakis mansion, unless she’d been somewhere else first and was maybe driving back there or to a second location. I like the idea that maybe Maggie took the booze to get it out of the house but didn’t actually drink it, then went off after Summer, caught up with her somewhere and tried to drive her back to the mansion. But Summer being Summer, she continued to drink and then got into a fight with Maggie, spilled booze everything and caused the car to crash. I’m hoping for something like that. I do appreciate that Summer, a character I’m not sure anyone ever wanted to see again, showed up and was immediately and thoroughly terrible.
I’m now very curious to see what happens with the babies. So far, Sarah’s baby seems fine, and Kristen’s baby isn’t, but I guess we’ll see where it goes. And I’m sure the scenes with everyone learning Adrienne died and then Will taking the blame will also be really dramatic. The Adrienne/Justin flashbacks were great.
I don’t know that it was necessary, but it was also nice to see a little sendoff for Tony and Anna. It was also good to see how Gabi came to be CEO of DiMera. Gabi seems pretty rootable in the scenes where she’s excited about becoming CEO and talking to Sonny about him and Will having another child. It’s a nice reminder that she’s not always being awful and once upon a time she was a scrappy underdog with a lot of rooting factor.January 23, 2020 at 11:03 am #1203300459
Yowzers! Another great episode! This flashback week has been terrific! (:
O.K., big question: did Victor bribe the nurse who knows which baby died? Because it’s not making any sense – why does Hayley tell Kristen the doctors did everything they could when this isn’t true?
Zander is at the root of everything: he and Victor allowing Will to be blamed for Adrienne’s death and the baby switch!
Amazing performances today: Freddie Smith’s crying scenes were heartrending, Wally Kurth, Chandler Massey, Stacey Haiduk, Paul Telfer – truly outstanding!January 23, 2020 at 2:55 pm #1203301053
What’s been really nice in the event that DAYS is pre-empted (which thankfully happened only once this week on Tuesday), the day’s episode still airs here during its regular timeslot on NBC’s sister station, Cozi TV (if you subscribe to Verizon FiOS like I do, it’s channel 460), which helps when one can’t otherwise catch the show On Demand. This is why I always make sure to also set my DVR to Cozi TV when DAYS airs, just in case!January 23, 2020 at 5:45 pm #1203301546
It wasn’t pre-empted on Tuesday, I watched it live at 1 p.m. on CoziTV.January 23, 2020 at 8:32 pm #1203301782
Xander switched the babies but what happened to the doctor? She knew it was baby Horton who died.January 24, 2020 at 12:06 am #1203301973
Victor most likely paid off the doctor to keep quiet about the baby switch. I’m sure the exact details of his scheme must at some point be revealed.
It wasn’t pre-empted on Tuesday, I watched it live at 1 p.m. on CoziTV.
DAYS airs from noon to 1 p.m. where I live (Delaware Valley) and on Tuesday, news coverage of the Senate hearings scheduled for 1 p.m. began about a half-hour early, so the second half of DAYS did not get shown. Thankfully, though, my DVR had also been set to Cozi TV which aired DAYS at the same time in its entirety.January 24, 2020 at 6:01 am #1203302090
Today’s episode promises to be a great one! (:
I felt so bad for Hayley yesterday – it’s Victor’s fault that she is dead ): But why would Brady ever consider getting back together with Kristen? This has made me dislike Brady completely – he should never ever even speak to her! She raped his brother for cryin’ out loud!
Days has been on fire this week! (:January 24, 2020 at 9:01 am #1203302374
Thursday’s episode was the best one yet!
Yeah, I’m assuming Victor paid off the doctor who was trying to save Sarah’s baby so he could switch the two kiddos. Haley is the nurse who handled both babies, which I don’t think would have been much of a problem, since newborn babies mostly all look alike. But it didn’t matter because of the extremely unfortunate incident with Haley falling down the stairs (obviously Kristen was there and contributed, but it didn’t even really seem like she pushed her). I was more worried about Maggie being implicated by her wrecked car near the accident than I was about the baby thing, which seemed neater. Paramedics arrived too early for Victor to be able to get Maggie’s car away from the crash area before anyone saw. Even if Maggie’s car was just in the woods somewhere nearby, I would think the authorities would have seen it pretty quickly. Then again, since the Salem PD would have been being run by Gina at this point, who even knows.
Anyway, this was a really sad and really powerful episode. The moment when Victor decides to protect Maggie from losing a grandchild by taking away his own grandson’s baby is huge. That must have been really hard for him knowing how miserable it would make Brady. I suppose then the real reason he had to oust Brady as CEO and install Xander wasn’t to reward Xander but to make sure Brady (not anyone else) wouldn’t find out what they had done. Excellent performances from Freddie Smith, Chandler Massey, Wally Kurth and Paul Telfer. The whole cast was great.
This week has been so good. Part of that is that it’s the culmination of a couple of things we’ve been waiting for, and the writing, acting and directing have been very strong, but I think it also helps that we’ve really been able to focus on a core set of characters (so far this week, Will, Sonny, Sarah, Xander, Maggie, and Adrienne have been in every episode) and that the story clearly knows where its going because we’ve seen where we are eight months later.
And I’ve been pleasantly surprised that NBC hasn’t been pre-empting the show for news coverage very much, at least not in my area (the New York market). We just had the second half of Tuesday interrupted, but the only shows have been off most of the week.January 25, 2020 at 5:44 am #1203303796
Friday’s episode was solid but not as good as the rest of the week. I don’t think we needed Jack’s reaction to Adrienne’s death. The scenes between Sonny and Will were the standouts. Days had a fantastic week, the best in quite a long time!
How is Maggie going to react to learning that she (supposedly) caused the accident while drunk?
