Victor and Susan are so much fun to watch together! I absolutely adore Stacey Haiduk’s Susan (her work as Kristen was horrible). Victor had so many wonderful zingers! may John Aniston continue acting for as many years as is possible! (:
So for now we are being led to believe that it is indeed E.J. We know how reliable DNA tests are at this particular hospital! So I will believe it when the bandages are taken off!
So Lucas has had his heart broken once again ): Rex and Mimi are the biological parents of baby Emily. I loved Maggie’s confrontation scene with Bonnie. and Rex admitting the truth so quickly is so “un-soap like”!
Sami and Belle doing some sister bonding – interrupted by Belle’s anger at being kept out of the loop about the Hattie/Marlena switch! Great to see the two sisters trying to come to an understanding with each other.November 6, 2018 at 9:21 am #1202669620
There were a lot of great moments in yesterday’s episode. I really loved the scenes between Sami and Belle. It was a pretty lovely illustration that they very clearly love each other and want to support one another but also really can’t go more than a few minutes without fighting with one another. I remember the awesome scenes last year when Belle went to visit Sami after she’d had Ben try to strangle Will (wow, how far we’ve come since then), when Belle tried to comfort her about Will basically wanting to nothing to do with her, Sami started a fight about Belle giving Chad the DiMera money back, and a nasty blow-up ensued. (Martha Madison does such great work in her return stints, and it feels a little criminal that she’s not on all the time.)
The party scenes with the reveal that Mimi and Rex are the baby’s parents were also great, and it felt like they hit all the right beats with it. Poor Lucas! I was surprised, but also thought it was appropriate, how both Roman and Kate kind of got in Rex’s face about carelessly getting Mimi pregnant. I also appreciated that Chloe made an effort to give Lucas the news in private before being nudged into a more public declaration.
Victor’s scenes with Susan were fun as well. I still think Stacy Haiduk’s Susan is just fine, but the dynamic was good, and it was nice of Victor to clue her in about EJ, which he seemed to do out of compassion rather than just wanting to get rid of her. Her cluelessness about everything that happened in Nashville was pretty funny considering that Eric’s been at the mansion crying about it for days now.November 6, 2018 at 12:28 pm #1202669723
I read that both Ali and Stacey are ending their guest stints this week ): I will say this about Ali’s return, I was really happy it was longer this time and she always makes me so happy! (: Maybe they can get James Scott to return for a guest stint next year???
I will miss Bonnie, esp. since we only really get to see the wonderful Judi Evans when she plays Bonnie since they never give Adrienne anything to do anymore. I am encouraged that somehow miraculously they will both be getting out of prison soon which means they can come back to the show = but in real life wouldn’t their characters be charged with many additional crimes and get more time added to their sentences? Soaps, ya gotta love ’em! (:
Are Rex and Mimi meant to be just short-term on the show?
Will the wonderful Martha Madison be sticking around or is her time ending soon too?
The show was really good today! (:November 7, 2018 at 12:17 pm #1202670389
Those scenes with Hattie and Bonnie were surprisingly touching, and I loved that Hattie convinced Bonnie that she was better off just being back in prison with her than on the run, how prison represented a kind of freedom for Bonnie. Bonnie seeming to have finally gotten past the idea that she’d be better off if she were Marlena is also a good turn of the writing, and I hope that lasts. Both Hattie’s and Bonnie’s sentences have been wonky, and it’s hard to remember why they are even in jail. Hope got Hattie’s conviction for the embezzling stuff, which she had been in prison for, overturned, but then she admitted to impersonating and kidnapping Marlena, and I have no idea what kind of sentence that carries. I’m assuming that John and Roman can pull enough strings to make her recent escape a non-issue, since she was just doing them a favor. Bonnie’s situation is trickier. They did agree to release her on the charge of murdering her husband/Mimi’s dad because of overcrowding and the amount of time she’d already served. But now I guess she’ll be on the hook for impersonating Adrienne. Again, no idea how long that sentence would be.
I was under the impression that Rex will be sticking around, but I believe yesterday was Mimi’s last episode. I don’t know about Martha Madison, but she and Brandon Beemer are back for holidays frequently enough that it almost doesn’t make sense for them to leave before Christmas. I agree that it’s been great having Sami on for a longer time period. I’ve been surprised they’ve had her for this long, but I guess they haven’t been playing her as frequently as last time, which is a better strategy. The stuff with Susan in yesterday’s episode was unsettling, and I really didn’t like the way it ended. I now hope she does show up another day or two because I’m going to be pretty upset on Sami’s behalf if Susan just absconded with EJ and Sami will now have to spend all the time between now and her next visit searching for them.November 7, 2018 at 3:36 pm #1202670558
Monday’s episode of Days was great! The engagement party was a complete fiasco in a wonderfully soapy way. Well played, Days!
So far, I am enjoying Rex and Sarah. The writers didn’t waste any time introducing conflict into their relationship!
The scenes with Sami and Belle were great. Belle and Shawn should definitely be full-time characters.November 8, 2018 at 8:39 am #1202670866
What a thrilling and surprising ending to yesterday’s episode! One thing I’m really starting to enjoy about the Abigail story is just how many characters are now being pushed to extremes by the situation they’re in. Abigail has already made some desperate moves, and it seems that Chad, Gabi and even Stefan are increasingly desperate to make things happen. I really hope we get a climax in this story before Marci Miller vacates the role, but time is running out for that, and we did see MM giving birth in the fall preview, so she may not have time for much else.
I saw that DAYS just did new cast photos for their anniversary, and the people in the photos are interesting. I’m sure it’s not all of them, because like half the cast is missing, but some of the interesting inclusions are Nicole, Xander, Ted, and Thia Megia as a character named Haley. I’m not sure if there’s anything to be made of characters who supposedly just died showing up alongside characters who haven’t debuted yet, but the show certainly has done a good job of keeping information under wraps, even with their gargantuan delay time between filming and airing.November 8, 2018 at 8:54 am #1202670874
Marci Miller leaves on Nov. 16 and Kate Mansi returns on Nov. 23, at least according to what I have read online.
Since I was not awake to see the thrilling and surprising ending I assume we will see it at the beginning of today’s episode! The show aired in the middle of the night while I was sleeping.
I think there were Paul/Will/Sonny scenes yesterday?
Looking forward to today’s episode! (:November 8, 2018 at 11:26 am #1202670960
Seeing Frances Reid at the end of the episode made me cry – (: While I thought the debut date was Nov. 5th perhaps it was the 8th? Happy 53rd Anniversary, Days Of Our Lives! (:
Which number wedding was this for John and Marlena?
The suspense for me is: will Gabi be able to stay on the show or not when the dust settles? I hope Camila Banus is able to stay with the show somehow but Gabi sure has been painted into a corner with this storyline.
Nice to see Will and Paul today (:
Glad that Susan did not take E.J. away and having Sami leave to chase her and E.J. all over the world (but I don’t trust any DNA results done at this particular hospital!)November 9, 2018 at 10:02 am #1202671508
I also teared up seeing Frances Reid at the end of yesterday’s episode. Such a sweet surprise with her giving an anniversary message at the end. Having this be the episode where Marlena and John finally get remarried was also good. I don’t think I can even begin to guess which number wedding this is for them. But the way it was done, and having Will, Paul, Belle and Sami there was nice. It was a good farewell for Sami, too.
Chad enlisting Ben to help him get into the DiMera mansion was really clever, and totally unexpected. It makes sense that Chad can’t really just hire a regular henchperson to deal with his own family, and this way Ben will now have a little money at least. Abigail switching her and Kate’s teacups was so great, but now it looks like Chad going to grab her before she even gets a chance to show anyone that Kate was trying to drug her! What is Gabi even going to do now? I feel like her shenanigans haven’t really crossed any major lines, certainly not in terms of what soap opera vixens and bad girls are willing to do, but I don’t know what happens to her now, or especially after Stefan finds out what she did with the paternity test.November 11, 2018 at 8:07 pm #1202673035
Or Kate is going to tell everyone that “Gabby” drugged her and thankfully Chad saved her in time or who knows what would have happened next? Or Chad will see a drugged kate, and think Abby is behind it all, never know, this storyline has been surprisngly better than I thought it would be when it first started. Looking forward to the return of kate mansi, saw the rest of the year preview, and its looking good, I like Julie when she is feisty, not just boring and nosey, still not sure how she beat out eileen davidson, ari zuker AND alison sweeney for the supporting actress nod last year, not this year though.November 12, 2018 at 9:59 am #1202673381
^^To this day it still saddens me that Eileen Davidson didn’t even get nominated for her stint last year, but considering she did win lead actress for Y&R, I should really let it go.
That preview for the rest of the year is INSANELY SPOILER-FILLED but looks so so so so so good. It’ll be great seeing Kate Mansi step back into this role, but I’ll really miss Marci Miller. All of the other stuff looked really exciting. As much as I’ve enjoyed the shenanigans of the visiting characters over the last few months, I’m glad we’ll be riding out 2018 focusing mostly on the stories that have been a little neglected during that time. I was also happy to see Sheila sticking around and continuing to have scenes with Abe, Eli, and Lani.
Chad is in such a deep hole for me right now. Even though Abigail finally convinced him to allow her to leave the remote cabin he’d kidnapped her to under the pretense of needing to protect her from Stefan, it seems he still doesn’t believe her about the DID and really only was convinced not to keep her there through a combination of guilt and the realization of how ridiculous it is for him to claim to want to be with her when he moved out of the house and decided he couldn’t be around her. That’s a wash, at best, as far as I’m concerned.
There was also a weird theme in Friday’s episode of “a man does what he needs to to protect the woman he loves,” which was offered up as an excuse for both Chad kidnapping Abigail and Tripp planting the evidence against Ben. I’m not sure if we’re meant to take that sentiment at face value, and I’m sure some viewers find the notion sort of romantic in an old-fashioned way, but it really bothered me, both generally and in the specific contexts of these stories, where Tripp is manipulating Ciara and Chad is trying to control Abigail. And even more bothersome was that the discussion was between Hope and Rafe, a coupling where Hope doesn’t need Rafe to protect her and is probably more likely to be the one protecting him. I think just being in the same room with Rafe is slowly killing Hope’s brain cells. What a disappointment that Sami’s return didn’t lead to any real relationship trouble for them, even though, given Rafe’s actions, it really should have.
