^Susan hasn’t been on continuously; only Suzanne has. Both Susan and Deidre have come and gone over the years. I missed yesterday’s episode ):
Bored today – to be honest I have been bored with the show lately – sad to say ):December 12, 2018 at 3:47 pm #1202699735
You really should watch yesterday’s episode (12/11) It was really wonderful. Ron created a show where we celebrated 50 years of Julie in Salem while saying goodbye to Lucas. A really great showcase for the Horton family.December 12, 2018 at 3:59 pm #1202699739

Can anyone direct me to an online viewing of this? I was out all day yesterday and missed my soaps!December 12, 2018 at 4:27 pm #1202699752
I don’t know why but none of Maggie’s children are ever likeable. Sarah is too much. I don’t like her and Eric together. I would’ve preferred for Nicole to fake her and Holly’s death to get away from Xander rather than Eric and Sarah raising Holly.
Marci Miller is very much missed!December 12, 2018 at 8:42 pm #1202699876
depending on where you live, shouldn’t nbc.com/days have the episode or globaltv.com/daysofourlives ??December 12, 2018 at 11:06 pm #1202699920
I remembered that Suzanne was off the show briefly when Marlena murdered Maggie, but eventually all the dead Salemites were found on that fantasy island and brought back to life! (; Otherwise she’s been on the show for 44 or 45 continuous years!December 13, 2018 at 10:41 am #1202700351
I know that Suzanne was on continuously except for when they killed Maggie during the serial killer storyline, but when they brought all of those characters back, they seemed to give them their seniority in the cast lineup. I believe at that time Suzanne was second to Frances Reid, who was first in the lineup. Even though Deidre and Susan have both had periods when they’ve been off, I think soaps for the most part just take the first date when you started and go from there (if you’re currently on the show), because it’s pretty rare for any star on any show to stay with the show and on contract for decades without ever having been away.
And yes, you should be able to watch Tuesday’s episode online. It was nice to see Lucas saying goodbye to his family, great to see Julie featured, and really nice to see the Hortons who you don’t typically think of as central Horton figures (i.e., Hortons other than Hope, Jennifer and Maggie).
Yesterday’s episode was hilarious. I find Sheila and Abe so funny together, and throwing Leo in there with them was even funnier. Greg Rikaart has been so funny since his return. I really enjoyed all of this surrounding the wedding and some of the stuff concerning Holly. I agree that they’ve jumped in too quickly with Sarah and Eric. Sarah is the character whose motivations don’t make sense to me. Sarah’s trying to get Eric custody of Holly like she’s going to make commission on it. I know they were childhood pals or whatever (sure), but they were clear that they hadn’t seen each other in decades. Eric continuing to blame Brady for Nicole’s death (and refusing to see Nicole as having any culpability in any of what happened to her) also doesn’t help. I don’t at all enjoy seeing the two of them together or discussing the Holly/Nicole situation with anyone. Which is why I was thrilled when Chloe got that letter from Nicole asking her to raise Holly. Sarah’s main argument for why Eric should raise Holly is that it’ll be good for Eric, which is really not a good argument at all. Looking forward to seeing that challenged.
I’m not sure how far any of this will go since the show has already announced — SPOILER ALERT — that Paul Telfer and Arianne Zucker will be back on in 2019, which has made Eric’s whining and moping really even less palatable.December 14, 2018 at 8:38 am #1202701215
If people were worried about whether Gabi was becoming irredeemable, then they should watch today and next week. If what’s been described actually happens, then that girl needs to go. It’s gone too far.December 17, 2018 at 7:56 am #1202703457
I was kind of shocked by what Gabi was up to when I saw the promo for this week. As much as I’ve been defending Bad Girl Gabi, I am a little concerned she’s going off the deep end here.
After listening to last week’s episode of the Days of our Lives podcast, I realized that Gilles Marini/Ted Laurent will be around for quite a while, which makes me happy. I didn’t realize before that he was on contract, but it sounds like he has some interesting stuff coming up.
The ending of Friday’s show with Julie getting caught by Gabi and Abigail getting caught by Kayla was good. I’m hoping Abigail will confide in Kayla, since she’s her aunt and her doctor.
Sarah is getting worse and worse with her attitude about Eric raising Holly. She was yelling at Maggie about that letter as if Maggie wrote the letter and sent it to Chloe. She really needs to back off. The flashback of Nicole, Eric and Brady in the warehouse was really effective, because it totally supported Brady’s point that Nicole may have only told Eric to look after Holly to get him out of that burning warehouse. Also worth noting: Even after that plea, Eric still refused to leave, and had to be knocked out and dragged out by Brady. It’s hard to imagine Eric has any argument for custody that will actually hold up. I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes, mostly because I don’t see it getting any more annoying that it currently is.December 17, 2018 at 8:29 am #1202703484
EmmyLoser, don’t get mad at me but I am not enjoying Days right now ): There really isn’t a single storyline that is making me happy or making me want to tune in ): I love the actors and the characters, the cast is so great that I continue to watch, of course, but… nothing is making me look forward to tuning in each day.
I have a different reason for being unhappy with the Gabi/Julie situation; Julie has always been mostly wrong about Gabi but now she is right about her. ): Not happy about it. I do wonder if Julie will see the contents before what happens to her happens…December 17, 2018 at 11:28 pm #1202704752
I do wish you were enjoying the show more, Freeman, but of course I’m not mad at you. 🙂 I can see why you wouldn’t be so enthusiastic about the show right now. For me, though, all of the stories are moving in a better direction and I’m really loving some of them. Even the somewhat insufferable Eric/Sarah stuff is being improved by Sarah now having her own stuff to worry about and Chloe’s letter giving Eric a legitimate challenge to his entitled attitude about raising Holly. (My mom compared him to Rumpelstiltskin, which cracked me up.) With the way Ron plans story, the entire show can shift focus and intensity on the turn of a dime, so hopefully you’re enjoying it more soon.
It was really good to see Sonny sticking up for Chad in today’s episode, even after the whole Leo thing. It’s nice to see the understanding, forgiving, compassionate side of Sonny, who is more concerned about being a friend than being a CEO. I’ve been kind of mad at Sonny for about a year, pretty much since he dumped Paul and then moved Will into the mansion, really with very little regard for Will’s readiness or emotional state. I think between having to take the hit with marrying Leo and trying to help out Chad, Sonny may be getting back into my good graces.
I do agree with your point about Julie having been wrong about Gabi basically the whole time since Nick’s death, and now because of this it seems like she was right all along. It’s kind of a shame, but I don’t think it’ll be lost on most people that Gabi spent years being a good person who was pushed to extremes, and even if she’s terrible now it doesn’t mean she was terrible all along. I was also thinking today that Stefan is going to be so so furious when he finds out about the baby and realizes that Gabi was deliberately deceiving him about it. He’ll probably be after some kind of revenge, which will probably help Gabi somewhat in terms of earning some redemption possibly.December 21, 2018 at 6:40 am #1202707482
I liked the cliffhanger yesterday with Abigail entering Julie’s room and finding Gabi there.
Haley looks to be another damsel in distress – usually Brady’s type of girl – but it looks like this will be J.J.’s new love interest. How I miss Paige!
I think we only have 5 more episodes left for 2018? (I think it won’t be on Christmas day?).December 21, 2018 at 9:26 am #1202707601
Our brief introduction to Haley also reminded me of/made me miss Paige. I’m not really feeling the story yet, but it just started so I’ll wait. I kind of like the parallel of JJ saving someone on the anniversary of Gabi having saved him. I thought it was interesting having JJ and Gabi talk about his suicide plans in Julie’s room. I couldn’t tell if JJ’s words would deter Gabi from smothering Julie (good lord) or encourage her, but in the end it seemed to do the former. I can’t wait to see the confrontation with Abigail! The conversation with Marlena and Stefan was good as well.
The story with Eric and Sarah trying to bully and browbeat everyone into giving Holly to Eric is really really not working well for either of those two characters. The way Sarah was talking to Maggie was so incredibly out of line and frankly shocking to hear anyone to speak to her that way, let alone her own daughter, let alone over something that is truly none of her damn business. The writers really need to get a handle on how these two characters are being handled, as there is no rooting value for either of them to get what they want. I feel like it would help if Eric just had an honest conversation with someone reasonable and didn’t go into it accusing them of having an agenda. How hard can you play the “we were planning our lives together” card for a person who you were in a relationship with for all of three days over the past three years? Even when Sarah told Eric that Rex had moved Mimi and the baby to Chicago so he could be closer to them, I couldn’t believe that Eric’s reaction was, “That’s cold.” Is it cold for Rex to want to be near his child? The two of them are so focused on what they want they can’t see anything clearly.
I wonder if Leo thinks that by keeping Sonny and Will from seeing each other, he can either get Sonny to sleep with him or that Will will sleep with someone else before they find a way to get rid of him?December 21, 2018 at 2:52 pm #1202707868
Ron Carlivati tweeted that DAYS will be airing new episodes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (and I assume the rest of the week). It looks like things will be happening with Abigail, Gabi, and Chad.December 21, 2018 at 8:05 pm #1202707972
The divorce papers at the end was a surprise. Stefan will not be pleased!
Seems like it is time for Chad to find out the truth. I think Billy and Kate are on the show until March?
Julie is awake – bets on her having amnesia? Doug was so touching by her bedside. I marvel at Bill Hayes, in his 90’s, giving such terrific performances!
