Thanks for clearing that up, Scoopster. Hopefully this influx of characters over the next couple of months will revitalize the show’s writing going into the late spring and summer.

Robin Strasser is one of daytime’s most overrated actresses ever. Nobody has noticed that her roles tend to be played better by other actresses (Vicky Wyndham and Elaine Princi). I am not looking forward to her playing Vivian. Louise is one of a kind.

^Robin Strasser is my all-time favorite daytime actress, so we will have to agree to disagree about her. I am so looking forward to seeing her again! (: (btw, Elaine Princi was truly horrible, awful, excruciating as Dorian – I was so happy when Robin came back. Her return episode was one of my very episodes ever of OLTL!)

Obviously no one reads my posts on here even though I’m always right, but as I said before I spoke to Louise at “Angels In America” on Broadway last year and she said exactly what Scoopster said about not wanting to return to Days. I reported this LAST YEAR so please keep up.

Yes, Djoko, your post was the reason I said I was under the impression that Louise Sorel didn’t want to return. I hadn’t seen that anywhere else. Scoopster’s post did have a little more info, though, which was helpful.

Poor Hope. Rafe is obviously a good guy but a truly terrible husband. Jordan’s baby is ADORABLE though.

They keep bringing this up, but it is hilarious to think that the lighter Claire used to start the fire at the cabin was just left there from when Ben set the cabin on fire. JJ remembers it from working the case but, what, the police didn’t need to use it for evidence? Or they took it in and then just put it back where they found it, in a burned out, abandoned cabin?

I also love that the carriage house that Ben lives in on the DiMera property looks like the place everyone’s been storing their random junk for the last 50 years, which makes sense.

I know you read my posts, but I was referring to the person who asked about her on the previous page.

As for the show, the writing has been terrible lately. It hasn’t interested me at all. Too many comings and goings to keep up with and it seems there aren’t any steady people on the show. I feel like once you get into a character or storyline, the person leaves because their contract wasn’t renewed. I feel like this is a transition period for them right now or just filler episodes.

There were some good things in the last couple of episodes, and I think maybe the writing is starting to turn a corner and get itself together a little bit. They are at least shaking out of their rut a little by mixing the characters around more than they have lately. It was really nice to see Jennifer and Eric having scenes together, not only because it gives us a break from the same complaining and moping they’ve been doing about Jack and Sarah, respectively, but also because I’ve missed their dynamic together and I really hated the way things were left with them after Eric found Nicole. The homage to a classic Jack and Jennifer story is also nice. Marlena going over to the Kiriakis mansion to hang out with Will and Sonny was great as well.

I also really enjoyed Ted’s confession of love to Hope the other day. It was sweet.

And Sarah’s hair looked incredible in yesterday’s episode. It seemed like they must have just been getting back from a hiatus or something because both Sarah’s hair and Marlena’s hair looked much longer.

Speaking of Louise Sorel, I saw her again today except this time when I went to Oklahoma! on Broadway. She was seeing it with Days producer Gary Tomlin. We had another great conversation and she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I asked her about Robin Strasser taking over her role and while she said she is a friend of hers, she wasn’t thrilled that someone else was taking over her role – this is just like when Eileen Davidson said she wasn’t happy also with her role being recast. Louise said they called her and told her what’s in store for the character so she could come back to Days, but she declined. I love love love her.

That’s cool you had another encounter with Louise Sorel. I can imagine it’s disappointing to learn the character you created and really made into a living, breathing entity is now being played by someone else. I’m not sure what exactly is in store for Vivian, but this must have been very tough with Eileen Davidson, when Kristen was recast and then also written like an absolute lunatic with very little underlying humanity.

I rarely comment on specific episodes, but it’s two times in a row they used the tired “Claire was imagining it all” trick. First it was when she was going to confess to setting the cabin on fire (while Ciara was in the hospital) and the second time was today when she barged in to stop the wedding. They have to get new tricks because I was not happy with it at all. The writing has definitely fallen off lately.

I really disliked today’s episode ): I have started to dread watching the show lately ): Two awful weddings and all that shouting too. Plus that stupid Claire fantasy thing yet again! Blech! I may be the only one who just doesn’t care about Haley. And I am irritated that there still has been no progress on Claire having set the fire. I agree with Jennifer, keep distance from Jack and Eve – and I include us viewers in that assessment! I am sure Chandler will act his heart out in his storyline but I am just not enjoying the show hardly at all lately ): The good news is that daytime shows will be awful for awhile and then suddenly find their way back to greatness and I am hoping that can happen once again for Days soon!

I’m a few episodes behind on this, not because I’m dragging my feet so much as just scheduling reasons, but it’s not like I’m all that eager to catch up. I haven’t seen the episodes you’re talking about, but I’m surprised they’d use that trick with Claire a second time. It seems like they’re doing some very careless things lately, including that. I also have a peeve about ending an episode on a cliffhanger and then not picking up on it after. They ended an episode last week with Rex telling Will his tests came back with bad news, and then none of them was on the next episode. That’s frustrating itself, but especially when then you go to focusing on Haley’s immigration story and Jack’s wedding to Eve, two things people are kind of hating. I personally like Haley just fine, but they’ve unquestionably given her too much screen time for a new character. Meanwhile, we’re lucky if we get to see Will and Sonny more than once a week.

The shows do tend to turn around quickly, but I’m starting to worry about how long the show will be this blah.

I truly can’t imagine what the writers are thinking with some of the choices they have been making. Even the story with Will’s brain tumor, the story I probably care about the most — largely because it involves characters I actually care about — is being bungled. There’s no sense of urgency whatsoever. To say that Rex, as the doctor treating him, is unconcerned feels like an understatement. Even after Will had a seizure, we were told it was nothing to worry about and everything is fine. The show certainly doesn’t seem worried, since Will gets tests in one episode and then, when Rex comes to give results, he barely says anything before the episode ends and we don’t pick it up again for several days.

I’m still a couple of episodes behind, but at least I know I still have Rafe getting shot to look forward to, thanks to last week’s ad.

I just saw Friday’s episode, and the writing in that was actually very good I thought. There were some pairings and interactions that we either haven’t seen much or were given a new dynamic. The Chloe/Brady conversation was great, as Chloe said A LOT of the things that I’ve been yelling at my television for a month or two and called Brady out on this recent behavior — and she doesn’t even know about his attempts to blackmail Eric into trying to force her out of the DiMera mansion by threatening to sue for custody of Holly. I also found the interaction between Ted and Eli interesting.

It looks like Ted is up to something shady, which is annoying if they use this to say that Hope was a fool for trusting/confiding in him, when honestly all of Hope and Rafe’s problems have stemmed from the crap that Rafe has done and his insecurity where Ted is concerned. After all, it’s not like Hope is leaving town or waffling on plans because Ted asks her to fly to Europe or go to California and find a baby. Anyway, since I’m still days behind, we probably know more by now, but I’m guessing and hoping that Ted is talking to one of these soon returning characters (Nicole, Xander, Vivian, Kristen?) and not someone worse. If Hope and Rafe reconcile because he got shot, it will be incredibly annoying, but if he can get his act together and just be a decent husband, I could tone down the complaining about him. It’s hard to imagine truly why any of Hope’s friends and relatives would be pushing her to try to make the marriage work, considering Rafe’s track record. They should more recognize what a mistake it was for Hope to marry him secretly before their wedding. If that hadn’t happened, she would have been so done with him after his sleeping with Sami was exposed, and people would have probably been totally cool with that.

The story about Tripp and Haley’s marriage has not been very good, and yet I have enjoyed it, much like a guilty pleasure. I think Tripp and Haley make a great couple. The writers have made Jack and Eve look like complete tools. Why would Jennifer even want Jack back? Not much subtlety in the storytelling.

The story with Lani taking care of David is a bit odd. Do you think David will turn out to actually be Lani’s son? Nothing would surprise me at this point, given all the returns from the dead.

I am enjoying Brandon Barash. His interpretation is very different from Tyler Christopher, but I actually enjoy both of them.

Ciara and Ben continue to be fire. They are the best part of the show right now.

I am interested to see where they are going with the story of Will’s tumor. Will he lose his memory?

I haven’t really enjoyed the story with Eric and Sarah and Rex. I think it was just too much, too fast.

So far, Nicole’s return just seems very repetitive in terms of storytelling.

Overall, though, still enjoying the show.

Interesting that Chad and Abigail are returning.
