I just watched the scene again at the link you sent, and you’re totally right. It sounds SO MUCH like he said Anna! I probably didn’t hear that the first time because I was just expecting to hear the word “partner” instead.
Today’s episode was fun. Poor Maggie was a hoot, blaming Brady for the bottle of booze she was holding and then going to the Salem Inn to yell at Kate. I’m also finding it funny how ridiculous some of these villains’ plans are. Gabi’s plan to marry and fleece Stefan seems almost reasonable compared to Kristen thinking that tricking Brady into thinking she’s Nicole will be the way to get him back and Xander thinking he can have Sarah if he could just get Rex out of the way. Kristen is probably remembering being trapped in the secret room watching John have sex with Susan without realizing it wasn’t her and thinking, “Like father, like son!”May 31, 2019 at 4:53 am #1202917613
Does anyone know when Robin Strasser will be joining the show? Is it a guest stint or will she be a regular?
Y&R does such a great job with their tribute episodes – Kay/Jeanne and Neil/Kristoff – I am hoping Days does something special for the late Peggy McCay/Caroline Brady. Are the returns just going to be for an episode or two or longer, esp. for Alison Sweeney? Seems like she would be needed by Will at this time.
Glad the truth is finally coming out about Claire!
What is Abe doing now that he is no longer mayor? How about Hope now that Eve is police commissioner? (ridiculous, btw).May 31, 2019 at 9:21 am #1202917928
I have a feeling that Eve won’t last very long as Police Commissioner, it seems like Jack is already having doubts with some of her motives, and with the upcoming news that Jack is starting to get his memory back, I have a feeling Jack will be kicking her to the curb in the near future lol.May 31, 2019 at 11:09 am #1202918057
Haha, yes, already Eve’s tenure as commissioner is heading into disastrous territory. She’s plotting to frame Ben for the cabin fire, as Marlena is helping him try to figure out who really did it. John walked into her office and straight-up accused her of stealing that diary from Seth Burns’ office, and the force seems to have every available officer trying to find JJ and Haley. Heaven help the people in town if there’s an assault or something.
I’ve been under the impression that neither Jack nor Eve will last long in their new jobs, but maybe that’s wrong. They mentioned around the time they were announcing the election results that the absentee and mail-in ballots had not been counted, so it seems like there’s an out for them to say that Jack didn’t actually win the election after all, in which case Abe is back in as mayor, Hope is back in as commissioner, and maybe Ted is back in as DA even. I think the typical amount of time a soap characters spends being unemployed after being fired is like a year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Hope and Abe don’t bother finding any new employment anytime soon, though I’d kind of like it if Hope just became a PI. I loved the setup that Rafe and Carrie had when they worked together, where it was a lawyer and a PI taking cases as a team. I can’t imagine her working with Melinda, and I don’t think she and Ted will be on great terms once the truth about his involvement in Holly’s kidnapping comes to light. They could either bring Belle back full time and have her work with Hope or just import a new lawyer or someone we didn’t know was a lawyer because they’ve been off screen forever, maybe one of Justin and Adrienne’s other sons? I guess Justin is an option as well, but I wouldn’t want to saddle Hope with a partner who the show has proven time and time again it doesn’t care for write for on a consistent basis.
Regarding Robin Strasser, I’m not sure when she’s starting. I believe I read somewhere that she’s on a contract, but it wasn’t specified how long the contract is.June 1, 2019 at 3:15 am #1202918839
Robin Strasser will start airing in September, it will be a guest stint – but she doesn’t say how long of one it will be – and she will have scenes with Kassie DePaiva’s Eve. I wonder if she will be eligible for a Guest Performer Emmy nomination?
Suzanne Rogers has been amazing lately!June 1, 2019 at 1:01 pm #1202919507
I haven’t been into Suzanne Rogers’s overacting. Her hyperventilating while crying has been too much for me.June 3, 2019 at 8:22 am #1202921578
I’ve been really loving Suzanne Rogers lately. I think typically, Maggie will only get emotional material in fits and starts, so it’s nice to see this arc where she’s going through a range of emotions and behaviors. It’s fun.
Sami is going to have a lot of words for a lot of people when she finds out that Will might only have days to live and no one told her!
The actors keep talking about the exciting upcoming story, and I’m looking forward to that. It seems like summer will be fun and bring back some familiar faces, and then something big will happen in the fall.June 4, 2019 at 9:18 am #1202923220
Picking up on FreemanGriffin’s post in the citations thread, it was really nice getting more information on Xander’s background, and I loved this softer interaction with Maggie. It was good because Xander was vulnerable in places and being genuinely helpful at times, but also wasn’t trying to talk her out of drinking more and probably didn’t think she’d really soften towards him at all. He probably thinks that helping out Maggie might score him some points with Sarah.
Speaking of Sarah, I think Linsey Godfrey is doing a great job at playing Sarah’s hopeless devotion to Eric. She is clearly doing anything she can to make things better for him, even though listening to him cry over Nicole for the hundredth time must be unpleasant for her at the very least.June 4, 2019 at 2:46 pm #1202923562
I am a bit confused by Will’s storyline and wondering what is going on? I enjoyed his scenes today with Sonny and Marlena – so his tumor has grown?
I am not enjoying Jack’s scenes lately at all. I know it is only temporary but it’s awful trying to endure it ):
So Ben is finally remembering that Claire was there and here’s hoping everybody learns that she set the fire. I can imagine that Ciara – who was in the most danger – would be furious with her!June 5, 2019 at 9:34 am #1202924528
Yes, in an episode late last week, Will passed out and was taken to the hospital, where Kayla ran some scans and saw that the tumor is actually growing. When pressed, Kayla said that the tumor could kill Will in a matter of days if the growth is not reversed or at least halted. At this point, it seems irresponsible that Will is not in a different/better facility. Kayla, Rex and Sarah have absolutely no suggestions that can help him.
I loved the ending with Ben apparently realizing, based on her ringtone, that Claire was at the cabin when he returned and found it on fire. He had already pieced together that Claire was the likely culprit, despite Ciara’s efforts to talk him out of that idea, and now that he’s heard that Claire’s ringtone is the sound he heard during his hypnosis with Marlena, I think he’s sure. Sadly, there may not be much he can do about it. The police commissioner already knows Claire started the fire and wants to pin it on him anyway. It’ll be interesting to see what happens now.
Speaking of the police commissioner, the show has kind of flipped the script with Eve and Jack. Eve is now getting some redeeming aspects to her and seems pretty stressed trying to be police commissioner, and is even hesitant about some of the shady things Jack wants to do regarding Haley, JJ and Jennifer. Jack, on the other hand, seems to determined to just be terrible with no pause or compunction about any of it. Though I have to say, it feels ridiculous that Jennifer was held overnight and at no point had a lawyer. Given the situation, I’d think Justin or even Melinda or Ted would have come down to try to help her out.June 5, 2019 at 12:28 pm #1202924768
So Claire is starting another fire for which Ben will be blamed…
Hurricane Sami is coming to town? Can’t wait! (: (I thought it would be for Caroline’s funeral? It better not be for Will’s!).
I alternated between boredom (Lani & Eli’s scenes in particular) and interest (Will, Sonny and Marlena in particular).June 6, 2019 at 9:23 am #1202925792
I laughed out loud when Claire said she took the express ferry to Smith Island. Talk about not caring about the logistics of things! It feels like even if Claire and Eve try to pin this fire on Ben, and even if people believe it for some period of time, Claire is really doing too much and digging her own grave. Like, I know that we’re not going for realism here, but surely Ben’s not even off the ferry (I assume the express ferry has not come again so quickly, haha) before Claire starts the fire, right? Normally I’d be worried about this, but it just seems too ridiculous for Claire to get away with this again.
I like Eli and Lani as a couple, and I was sad to see them break up. Then again, it feels a bit like a waste that the show hasn’t let Eli and Gabi have scenes together since they broke up. They were really fun together, and I think he could help temper some of Gabi’s bad behavior. I also feel like the police characters are more interesting and dynamic when they aren’t romantically involve with other police/law & order characters. Hope, Rafe, Lani, Eli and Ted are all mostly involved with each other, but the show would be better off mixing them around.
It’s good seeing Will and Sonny (and Marlena and John for that matter), but it is very hard to invest any real emotion in this story. I don’t think for a second that Will’s going to die from this tumor. The show would have been better off coming up with a really tragic but less dire consequence, like Will losing all of his memory again. Once they upped the stakes to him having a few days to live, the threat really lost all credibility, and so far they aren’t doing anything particularly interesting to save him.June 9, 2019 at 10:20 pm #1202930363
I’m curious to see how this fire plays out. Spoilers say that Eve frames Ben for the fire, and in the preview for the summer it does show Claire sitting with Belle at the tribute to Caroline Brady, so I am guessing that she temporarily must get away with it somehow.June 11, 2019 at 10:03 am #1202932978
One of the hardest things about soaps, for me, is trying to remind myself when certain characters don’t know things that it feels like they should know and so they do things that seem crazy. Watching Ben try to explain to Eve that he didn’t start the fire, and that it was Claire who started both this fire and the one from a year ago, seemed nuts, but then I had to remind myself that Ben doesn’t really know the full extent of Eve and Claire’s association or what scheming, duplicitous and morally bankrupt person Eve can be at times. I really wish he had waited for a lawyer to show up before telling Eve basically every bit of evidence that Claire will need to cover or explain.
I feel like if Sami could have heard Roman telling Kate that they should respect Will’s wishes and just accept that he’s going to die, she would be telling him off about it for days. I also imagine that by now she would certainly have browbeaten Eve into telling her what became of Rolf’s journal. The villainous characters in Salem are running amok somewhat, and I am so looking forward to Sami getting back there, both because she’s got a better BS detector than almost anyone who’s in Salem now and because she’s willing to do shady things to work around plotters and schemers.June 11, 2019 at 4:37 pm #1202933530
Very much liked that Ben and Ciara are being smart about how to deal with Claire (:
Will doesn’t seem to be all that sick. I laughed so hard at Gabi’s reactivity today! Love the tenderness between Will and Sonny.
I assume the returns are happening very soon? Caroline’s death is coming right up (finally).
I am going to miss Tripp ):
Zander rocks! (:
