There is a rumor that Billy Miller is joining Days. I think he would make an excellent Stefan or a brand new character but IDK. It’s only a rumor. The other big rumor is that Nicole will be coming back. I wonder: is Holly already with the real Nicole?

I enjoy Stacey Haiduk as Susan but not as Kristen, which is weird to me.

Absolutely love Maggie and Zander scenes! (:

    Brick back Adrienne! (:

The fact that Adrienne has the same number of episode THIS YEAR as Christie Clark, and fewer than even Agent Smith who was trying so hard to deport Haley, is truly appalling. Her son got married, and they didn’t even let her show up for that.

But I think you’re right, Djoko, the show has done a much better job lately at focusing on the more interesting stories and characters, so even though it’s still got problems, it’s much better than a few months ago.

I think I’m somewhat in the minority here, but I was glad that Sarah and Eric finally got together, though it’s funny that Eric is making almost the same mistake he made with Nicole, which is going in one conversation from basically “we can’t be together” to “let’s get it on” and hitting the sheets without even talking to Brady/Rex first. Also, the Xander/Maggie scenes were just delightful. While it seems pretty crazy that people are just hanging out with Xander when everyone knows he just kidnapped Ted and Kate, it’s less hard to believe than Kristen getting back into the Nicole disguise at some point between ditching Hope at the park and returning to her suite.

While I hadn’t heard a rumor that it would actually happen, I did see on Daytime Confidential a wishful casting for Billy Miller to play Peter Blake on DAYS. While I’d love to see Peter back, I think Miller would be a poor fit for the role in a lot of ways, not the least of which is being too young for it. I also don’t see Miller having any interest in being at DAYS.

I didn’t see the Daytime Confidential wishful casting, I saw several different sites with a rumor that Billy Miller is coming to Days. It’s only a rumor though so IDK if it will actually happen.

I love Greg Vaughan but I have been really turned off by his current story with Sarah, who I absolutely want off the show! I wish she was leaving with Rex!

Hope finding the bracelet in the trash? What was that all about?

September is coming which means Robin Strasser’s guest stint is on it’s way! (: So looking forward to it – I hope it’s worth the wait! (:

A while back, EmmyLoser used the term “outlandish” in reference to “Days” and I would like to latch onto that. There has just been too much outlandishness on “Days” and the show is out of balance.

The most outlandish storyline is the return, once again, of Kristen, disguising herself as Nicole via a mask. Although the story has Shakespearean roots, it just doesn’t fly in 2019. To further complicate matters, we have Stacy Haiduk playing Kristen instead of Eileen Davidson. I am not a fan of endlessly resurrecting criminals, and this story just feels like overkill.

To be fair, this story has had its moments, my favorite being early-on when Maggie sees Kristen. Ari Zucker has had some humorous moments and Haiduk is great as Susan Banks. But enough is enough. I’m ready to move on.

I loved the story when Hattie and Bonnie took over Marlena and Adrienne’s identities, so what is the difference? I’m not sure, but I think it really comes down to balance. Outlandish plot threads need to be counterbalanced with stories that are more reality based. The shooting of Theo and Marlena on Life Support are past examples of very dramatic, non-campy stories that were really good. We need more of a mix.

I am very sorry to hear that Lucas Adams is leaving. He is a terrific actor and has great chemistry with, well, pretty much everyone.

Jack is such a complete jerk that Jennifer should not want him back anymore. He has no rooting value. Ditto with Eve. She was such a complex character a few years ago, but now she is so one-dimensional. DePaiva still delivers, but her material pales in comparison to the days of JJ and Paige.

Love, love, love Brandon Barash and Camila Banus. Also love Victoria Konefal and Robert Scott Wilson. These two couples should definitely be front and center.

The character of Sarah is not really working for me. I think it’s because her character has not really been fleshed out. Her story has been mostly plot-driven. Or maybe it’s just because I don’t like her hair.

Eric has become the most angsty, boring character on daytime. He needs something more fun. I loved him with Jennifer.

Xander is wonderful. Glad they have found a way to keep him around. Freeman, I agree, love his scenes with Maggie.

Freeman: “One of the problems with the show is that most of the stories aren’t on often enough to make us care in so many cases.” I agree with this assessment. I have bee trying to interest my mom in watching Days, but I think she is just overwhelmed by the vast scope of storytelling. While established fans might enjoy it, this approach has little chance of attracting new viewers.

Great to have you back robbalto and I agree 100% with everything you said! (: The actors and characters are keeping me watching but the stories are alienating me. And Greg Vaughan’s Eric is one of my favorites but he has been such a drag ever since Sarah showed up! For the first time ever I don’t look forward to his scenes.

I actually like the outlandishness in daytime. It makes it much more interesting. I have basically given up on expecting any sort of “reality” in soaps. I was always a big fan when the late James E. Reilly came up with the craziest Days storylines.

Stacy doesn’t work as Kristen for a number of reasons. She looks sickly. Is she anorexic? She plays her as a straight up psycho and she always feels like a stranger in scenes with characters key to her history. John and Marlena are also not involved in the story.

The show needs to find a way to bring Eileen back.

Eric and Sarah are blah. I don’t know why Xander likes her either. Maggie’s kids have always been problematic. And Eric needs to crack a smile.

Everyone makes some great points, and I will echo what Freeman said: Great to have your voice in the forums again, robbalto!

I don’t know which is a more damning reason for Kristen not really working — the character now just being a psychotic murderess with astoundingly muddled goals or Stacy Haiduk just not being able to give the role the same life that Eileen Davidson always did. There are a couple dozen reasons after that, but those feel like the big ones. It is also pretty astounding that Kristen is on, either as herself or Nicole, almost every day, and Marlena and John are completely uninvolved and basically off screen. I like that Kristen has centered her romantic attention on Brady rather than John at this point, but the thing that would most believably send Kristen into a murderous rage is having to deal with Marlena, and the show isn’t even using that.

The writers really don’t seem to care that much about things making any sense — even the outlandish and ridiculous stories should make some sense by their own standards — and also don’t seem to care much about getting the details right. The other day, Gabi said that Stefan and his mother framed her for murder, which is just plain incorrect. They had an episode last week where half the tension was that Kristen would get caught in public without her disguise (though I don’t think they gave any reason why she even left without putting it on), and then she shows up back at the room where Brady is with Tony, a moment that seemed like it should have been tense and suspenseful, but was, without explanation, already back to being in the Nicole mask and wig. This is the kind of thing that’s driving me batty about the show and that keeps happening every episode. I think the Kristen story is the biggest victim of this because it doesn’t make sense on any level. Why is Kristen trying to run DiMera, a company she’s never cared much about? And if she did want to run DiMera, why didn’t she do even one hour of work when she convinced Stefan to hire her, as Nicole, to run Basic Black? And why would any of them have thought they should have a joint launch party for Basic Black, a luxury brand that was being resurrected, and Gabi Chic, a bargain lifestyle brand that already exists and is apparently thriving? It’s so many things. Maybe DAYS should hire a few more writers and then rotate them in and out more, so they don’t get as burned out? I think we’re really feeling the absence of Sheri Anderson, who seemed to be keeping things more steady and more rooted in the history and traditions of the show. As has been the case with his work at other shows, Ron C is great at digging into history, but generally uses it as fodder to serve plots that don’t really honor and respect that history. Look at what’s happening with Jennifer and Jack.

Anyway, at this point, I’m here all day for Gabi/Stefan stuff and Ciara/Ben stuff. I also am in the minority in liking Sarah, but that’s really all Linsey Godfrey, who I just find charming, even though there’s no character reason for Eric or Xander to be so taken with Sarah. Maybe with Rex gone, Sarah will develop more character depth, but I doubt it. I was happy when Eric and Sarah got together, even though it was Eric just doing almost the exact thing he kept swearing up and down he would do by once again sleeping with his brother’s romantic partner and figuring they’d just tell him about it afterwards, because I thought Eric could be less broody and moody for a while, but that seems not to be the case.

Despite all this, I’m still finding the show mostly entertaining, but I wish it would get back to being really good.

Also, it’s very weird that Will and Jennifer, who is not only his aunt but also his boss at the newspaper, never seem to have a conversation and are never in scenes together. It’s just odd.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Melissa Reeves is behind the lack of Will/Jenn scenes. She and her husband are very religious. I think he was the one who made her confess her sins to the church after her affair with Jason Brooks. Sometimes real life is stranger than fiction.

I think there was a scene where Jennifer discussed Will’s recovery and re-marriage with Sonny with someone else but she definitely doesn’t share scenes with them.

Kristen isn’t working because it’s a combination of Stacy Haiduk not being even close to the same league as Eileen Davidson and the writers writing her without any redeeming qualities. The only good thing about it is we get to see the best of Arianne Zucker.

As for Melissa Reeves, we could do without her on the show. They should’ve fired her a long time ago – right after she made that Chick-fil-a post as a big F-you to gay people.

I am going to miss Days today due to a 5 1/2 hour planned power outage from my electric company ): Grrr! ): I read that Adrienne is actually going to make a rare appearance on today’s episode! Honestly though I won’t be missing much – the show has been boring me lately, they so need to move on to other better stories ASAP! I am most looking forward to Robin Strasser’s guest stint next month. The one thing that would make me happiest is the return of the real Nicole Walker but I am not sure if they will be doing this? (I read a rumor that Zander will be bringing Nicole back to town but I don’t know if it is true or not).

I remember that Melissa Reeves Chick-Fil-A kerfuffle. I didn’t realize she and her family were so religious, and I was absolutely shocked when she tweeted about having just had Chick-Fil-A on the day of a boycott. Crystal Chappell came to her defense, and it was sort of implied that she didn’t fully realize the implications of what she was saying/doing, but I think her response was just to flee Twitter. While the whole thing was disappointing, I still like her a lot as an actress and love the character of Jennifer. It hadn’t occurred to me that she might be the reason Will and Jennifer don’t have scenes together, but it’s possible. Then again, Will and Sonny are two popular characters who are on maybe once a week now, so who knows what’s going on.

Watching Monday’s show, with Kristen being an absolute terror to Tony, it was striking how the writers don’t think they need to make Kristen even slightly rootable or sympathetic. She can’t even be nice to Tony or Stefan (who, by the way, hid her from the police on her last visit to town just because they’re family and she asked). It’s truly appalling. I’m sticking with my hope that they eventually — down the line when they can coax Eileen Davidson back — reveal that at some point an obsessed doppelganger took Kristen’s place and locked her away somewhere. Maybe it’s a revenge-driven Penelope. It would have to go at least as far back as Stacy Haiduk’s tenure, but I’m willing to go as far back as Kristen stealing baby Tate from Theresa’s womb so she could carry/give birth to him.

Lucas Adams looks damn good without clothes on!

It was really good seeing Melinda. She has chemistry with everyone she comes in contact with; get rid of faux Kristen and Southern Eve and make her a regular.

And Adrienne going at it with Eve was a delight. Judi Evans deserves better than these minimal appearances.

Yes, I agree with all three of these points: It was great seeing Lucas Adams in his boxers; it was great seeing Melinda back, and she really should be on more often; and it was great seeing Adrienne and watching her get in Eve’s face a little. I’m glad Melinda is back to being the DA, which is really a good position for her. It’s kind of ridiculous that Jack would appoint her, or that she would work for him, but at least the scene where she takes the job back was funny. And while it really annoys me that Justin is representing Eve in this baseless case of hers — the audacity to sue someone for wrongful termination as police commissioner when you were not only totally unqualified for the job but also committing actual crimes while in office, not to mention her half-hearted and fully disgusting rape accusation against Jack that she’s now retracted — I’ll be fine with it if it means something for Adrienne to do or even Eve acting like a human being and possibly rekindling her interest in Justin.

In other positive observations, this Marlena/John anniversary party business is pretty funny, and I think will be a fun event. With that, the impending story shifts that must be coming up, and having Anna back (what a hoot she is — I cackled when Anna told Tony that he was too late and she was going to marry Roman), I am hopeful the show is turning and corner and going to produce a better fall.
