Y&R is very frustrating to watch. When did Victor have time to set up cameras in Victoria’s house without her knowing? If he has footage of J.T. choking Victoria, why didn’t he take it to the police and have him arrested? I thought J.T. put his fist through the door, yet there isn’t any damage to the door. I’m getting more excited for Mac’s return. I’m wondering if J.T. ever hit her and that’s the reason for the divorce/wanting full custody of the kids?
I really wish Paul/Christine and Michael/Lauren would be featured more. They’re barely on, and if they are on, it’s for a scene to prop other characters.March 24, 2018 at 8:39 am #1202518532
Now J.T. has pushed Victor down a flight of stairs – the show has been very violent lately. I am sure Jack will be blamed and he didn’t do it but Victor was the aggressor and J.T. needed to defend himself. Strange story twist.
This is why I believe it is wrong to have the headwriter also be the E.P. – so now Jack isn’t going to be John’s child either? Or is Dina confused? It’s too much imo. But I am watching but am I enjoying it? I think I am ambivalent about the show.March 26, 2018 at 1:54 pm #1202519454
As frustrated as I’ve been with Y&R, I did enjoy today’s episode. I thought it was well paced and all the stories worked.
Abby/Ashley/Dina: I’m glad when Abby was talking to Ashley and telling her about Jack not being an Abbott (according to Dina), Ash didn’t go along with it. I like the fact she reminded Abby about Dina’s State of mind.
Nick/Sharon: I’m mixed on these two. On one hand, I like them together and glad their friends and lookout for each other. On the other hand, it would be nice to see them be single for awhile. I’m glad Nick pulled away and that they didn’t go all the way.
JT/Vickie: curious to see where this story leads. Not excited they’re engaged, but wondering who/how they find out Vickie has been abused.
Paul: honestly, just glad he was on. He’s always been my favorite and I miss the days of him leading stories.March 28, 2018 at 6:37 pm #1202520641
I feel guilty about this but I am actually enjoying Y&R the most of the 4 shows right now – at the same time I object to much of what Mal Young is doing with the show. Contradiction, yes, I know…
Since when is J.T. an abuser? The character assassination of J.T. at the altar of the Newman’s is troubling.March 28, 2018 at 7:27 pm #1202520687
While watching the Walnut Grove reunion,I remembered how Billy, JT and Raul all dated Mac and Brittany at some point on the show.
It is odd what they’re doing to JT. When Victor wakes up, I’m wondering if he’ll remember what happened or if he’ll have a concussion/memory loss of being pushed down the stairs?.March 29, 2018 at 8:49 pm #1202521578
Today’s show (3/29/18) was kind of an odd show. First of all, I loved Traci’s speech. Why can’t she be on more and featured more?! I found the comments that Raul made about Brittany singing and dancing being electric were odd, mainly because Brittany was electrocuted while singing/dancing back in the day. Also Brittany/Raul said their kid is a freshman at Harvard. Didn’t she have him in 2005? That would make him 13. He must be either really smart or he got sorased. Finally, I was surprised when Kyle talked about going to Walnut Grove. Didn’t he go to boarding school?
I must say I’ve been enjoying the show lately.March 30, 2018 at 5:28 am #1202521702
Traci’s speech was so moving! I am glad she has been on more often lately! (:
Jack’s arrest, Victor wakes up – I just don’t get why JT isn’t more concerned about what happens if Victor wakes up and rats him out?
I they really going to re-write history and have Jack not be a biological Abbott? Would William J Bell approve of it? I miss Jerry Douglas as John Abbott – we need some more ghost visits from him and not just Jack: Ashley, Traci and Dina too!
Even though there is much to criticize, the show has been extremely watchable!April 2, 2018 at 3:39 pm #1202523119
I am not really enjoying Y&R right now. There is too much negativity, and the characters are all too snarky. The fun factor on the show is pretty much nonexistent.
Also, I already dislike Kyle. I have no issue with the actor, but the character is a total jerk. Yet another character to dislike.
I was disappointed (not surprisingly) by the anniversary week. The appearance by the Brooks sisters had zero substance. We learned nothing about their lives, spouses, children, grandchildren, etc. Their appearance only fueled more negativity as they traded barbs with Jill because of her misdeeds — forty years ago! Furthermore, they could have made great use of clips (like they did when Sally Sussman was writing), but failed to do so.April 3, 2018 at 1:56 pm #1202523686
Is ERic Braeden retiring from Y&R? There have been hints this might be his exit story…
I think we are supposed to dislike Kyle; I think we are supposed to be sympathetic to Jack and that is Kyle’s purpose.
Despite not liking the story kudos to Thad Luckinbill who has been doing a great job acting-wise with J.T. lately. The character is being assassinated at the altar of the Newman’s, yes, but his acting has been stellar. Amelia Heinle has been great too.
I hope they get Mariah’s story back on the frontburner soon.
Strange wish: they had brought back Brenda Dickson to play Jill for just this one past week! Then they could have had clips from back then…April 4, 2018 at 5:19 pm #1202524294
I would have settled for any kind of clips. It was a pathetic anniversary celebration if you ask me. And what they are doing now to Jack is beyond horrible. I tuned back in for anniversary week hoping that Mal would wow me, but I hate seeing what’s become of Bill Bell’s once great show. It’s off my DVR again. This 34-year viewer is done.April 13, 2018 at 10:34 am #1202529199
Today’s episode was simply stunning! Amazing! Amelia Heinle deserves an Emmy for her phenomenal performance – I was in tears. The ending, when Nikki kills J.T., was a yowzer! The writing was spot-on, the direction, the supporting performances by Melody Thomas Scott, Sharon Case (particularly mesmerizing), Gina Tognoni and Thad Luckillbill – all fantastic! I can’t stop with the superlatives! I have been feeling guilty for having Y&R be my favorite show because I actually agree with robbalto about certain tone issues of snarkiness and meanness of spirit, yet an episode like today’s makes those concerns feel smaller somehow.
I am not a huge Amelia Heinle, never have been, but I sure am now! I doubt anyone will deliver a more beautiful performance than the one she gave today – esp. her recounting of the abuse, her pain and confusion, and then later her rightful anger towards J.T. when she learns that he tried to murder her father.
Stunning, brilliant, best-of episode…. (:April 16, 2018 at 5:34 pm #1202530707

Another amazing episode with stellar performances from everyone. I’ve already cited it in the 2018 emmy thread. Haven’t been this excited about Y&R in awhile.April 16, 2018 at 6:37 pm #1202530772
Yes, Y&R has been on fire the past several weeks, with Emmy-worthy episodes, performances, writing and direction (: esp. Amelia Heinle and Marla Adams.April 16, 2018 at 7:23 pm #1202530796
The show has been riveting; the women are really bringing it. Besides Victoria, Nikki has been the surprise stunner. The scene of her recalling her history of her father and her protecting of Victoria pierced my heart.April 18, 2018 at 8:45 am #1202531630
Based on all the comments here, I’ve been checking in on Y&R and watched (parts of) Monday through Thursday’s episodes last week. The Thursday episode with the humor of Sharon and Mariah trying to put together the girls night was a lot of fun, and I liked seeing that contrasted with Victoria’s attempts to make everything okay and the way they collided at the end. I’m looking forward to seeing Friday’s episode!
On another note, I had no idea Victor and Nikki had an open relationship. How interesting. Y&R is doing some things that you don’t typically see on soaps, which is cool. Not now
