robbalto (Robert) was right about Tessa! I am actually quite surprised! Interesting plot twist, I wonder where the story goes from here?
The show is so mixed but there are a few stories that have me tuning in…November 15, 2018 at 12:07 pm #1202675768
Camryn Grimes has been more than awesome in the past several episodes. I have been so involved in her story and it’s her acting that is selling it. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here.
I also am so glad that Beth Maitland has been a regular in 2018 and not just an occasional guest. I always feel happy just seeing Traci on my screen.November 19, 2018 at 4:24 pm #1202678380
So I have to say, I am enjoying the Rosales family. The addition of Mia has added some much needed spice to the show. And I’m very fond of Lola, whose character is strong yet provides a contrast to Mia. Rey and Sharon share a lot of chemistry, and I’ve liked Arturo since the character debuted.
I also like the character of Nate, but he has no real story. I suspect that he was originally brought on to mix it up with Hilary. Now that she has been gone for months, it’s time for Plan B. Nate has no chemistry with Victoria, so hopefully the writers will move in a direction that does not involve her.
Part of the reason I am enjoying the new characters is that I have no preconceived notions about their personalities, motivations, or behavior. I am a stickler for character. That is why I did not enjoy Ashley’s exit story. It was well-written and I know a lot of fans liked it, but it just did not ring true for me.
Abby is so annoying. She has moments where she is really great, but she inevitably defaults to her annoying ways. She and Arturo are ok are for now, but I would eventually like to see him with someone else.
Now we know Tessa is the blackmailer, but we still do not know what has become of JT. I’m guessing he is still alive, as it is difficult to imagine that Tessa (or someone else) dug up the body and moved it. But, hey, this is a soap, so who knows?
Camryn Grimes has been wonderful during the last week and a half. Her performances are consistently stellar. It looks like Mariah’s relationship with Tessa has come to its inevitable end, aside from wrapping up this story. I am looking forward to better days for Mariah.
In response to EmmyLoser’s note on the Days thread, the SOD podcast with Peter Bergman was great! Very interesting hearing his stories dating back to his AMC debut.November 22, 2018 at 7:50 am #1202680265
I am very annoyed with Nick and Phyllis getting back together again – this is very sloppy writing by Mal Young, who seems hell-bent on destroying this show at every opportunity with bone-headed decisions.
I have the feeling Tessa will catch on to Mariah’s deception. Loved that Tessa sent herself the stuffed bear she has her hidden loot in!
I get bored whenever the show is about business – who is going to be CEO? I don’t care!November 26, 2018 at 5:48 pm #1202682663
While I enjoyed Amelia Heinle’s fiery performance today I was confused and baffled: she put Mariah on the spot by outing the fact that she must have told the four murderesses that Tessa is their blackmailer. And was it just a guess that the money and the hard-drive were hidden in the stuffed bear? Dramatically it was effective and yet I was somewhat put off by it…
I am not liking at all that fickle Nick is now with Phyllis – wth? He’s over Sharon, who he just almost married, in two seconds flat?December 11, 2018 at 5:42 pm #1202698304
It’s official: Y&R has completely jumped the shark and it’s Mal Young’s fault – he has to go. This is concerning the return of a character who has been MIA for awhile and is te one who is menacing Nikki etc. And it is completely out of character and shows how out of tune Mal Young is with the history of this show, these characters, and American daytime television.
Why is this show still #1? I, ahem, watched this show today, totally bored and doing other things. Let’s see: Nick was totally in love with Sharon but is already with Phyllis, 2 minutes after Phyllis was supposed to be completely with Billy. Meanwhile, Nikki is behaving so horribly – the scene where they terrorize Tessa was beyond ugly. Character assassinations, stupid storylines, a disrespect for the rich history of the show… blech!December 19, 2018 at 5:37 pm #1202706486
has PopTV stopped broadcasting Y&R at 7 p.m. EST? I was going to watch the last 15 minutes but Charmed was on instead. I haven’t been loving the show lately but would occasionally tune in on PopTV…December 19, 2018 at 6:09 pm #1202706503
I read that Mal Young is out at Y&R. Not sure if it’s true or not. Has anyone else heard anything? Not sure how reliable the source was either. I haven’t seen Y&R in months. If it’s true and if they get writers that will write for the vets and add romance to the show (compared to the bed hopping), I may start watching again.December 19, 2018 at 6:18 pm #1202706509
^Yes, Mal Young is on his way OUT! Not sure when the last air dates will be for his material. I hope they will move away from all the business intrigue and get back to core families and characters we care about behaving in ways they actually would behave.December 28, 2018 at 1:45 am #1202712181
On the Soap Opera Digest cover it says that the truth about J.T.’s murder is finally coming out. The thing is I saw a spoiler online that upset me that may or may not be accurate – it has to do with the return of Paul Williams behaving in a completely uncharacteristic manner which would be complete character assassination – I am hoping what I read was a false rumor but with the latest development of Nikki’s disappearance from her hospital bed I am starting to dread what’s coming next.
They really dropped the ball on Dina’s story, and there was definitely more story to tell ): Even if they do eventually get back to it it will be marred by the absence of Ashley.
I actually enjoyed the show during the first half of 2018, with bumps on the road, certainly, but the show was much better then and has slipped terribly since then.December 30, 2018 at 2:21 pm #1202714264
I haven’t watched Y&R in months. I read that Paul would be returning and I got excited for Doug Davidson’s return. However, if he returns and they ruin Paul’s character I’ll be annoyed. I also heard Fen was returning (maybe he already has). I’m hoping with his return, Michael and Lauren will have more air time and more to do. I’m kind of afraid they’ll just bring him on for the younger crowd.
Y&R was on fire at the beginning of the year. It just got incredibly boring the past few months. It’ll be interesting to see what they submit for the Emmys.December 30, 2018 at 3:05 pm #1202714291
^Fen has already returned but doesn’t really have a storyline yet.
If the spoiler I have read is true about Paul I wish he wouldn’t return – imo it’s awful! Character assassination… but it may only be a rumor and not the whole story.
Y&R can actually win with material from January – April 2018, and also July, with Hillary’s death storyline. They have a ton of material they could submit. The show completely fell apart imo in the last 5 months.January 8, 2019 at 9:56 am #1202725809
I am sort of watching Y&R right now but really I am just waiting for Days to start – this show has become so incredibly boring! I just don’t get it. These characters and their interactions are dull and feel off to me. It’s maddening because of course this show has such a rich history, such great characters and actors, and so much potential ):
