Yes I was shocked. Amelia Heinle put in a stellar performance with JT’s abuse storyline and she and Thad were both SNUBBED and especially Eric Braeden with Victor’s stroke. Do voters hate Eric that much? Eileen Davidson was also snubbed. Peter Bergman got in but NOT her????

Zach Tinker for Younger Actor???? Tristan Lake Leabu was better than him. A little stunned Cait Fairbanks didn’t get nominated.

I was wondering why Marla Adams didn’t submit herself for Supporting???

Y&R did get ALL of the Creative Arts nominations 😀😀😀😀

I was also very surprised by Y&R’s poor showing in the acting categories. I don’t find it particularly upsetting, to be honest, and I would swap some nominees for others, but I was surprised. But yes, they did have a strong showing in the creative arts categories, and I think deservedly so.

Soap Opera Digest reported that Shemar Moore with return as Malcolm for a couple of episodes to deal with Neil’s death, and that Victoria Rowell and Mishael Morgan would be back on air as themselves for a special tribute episode to Kristoff St. John, similar to what the show did for Jeanne Cooper.

I believe Y&R will win Writing if they submit Hillary’s death. They should also submit this for Drama Series and with a possibility of JT’s abuse to Victoria if anyone can think of another storyline. Don’t think they should submit Jack’s paternity.

I’d say the abuse storyline is the strongest material they have from a writing standpoint. But then, I guess I tend to shy away from writing submissions that don’t connect really well to what came before and/or lead to storyline dead-ends or disasters. I found the aftermath of Hillary’s death kind of ridiculous in a lot of ways.

You don’t think Hillary being in the hospital, losing her baby and dying is Writing???

The writing, directing and series submissions could come from the very beginning of the year. Dina taking Christian during one of her Alzheimer moments and playing hide and seek with him, while Chelsea was going out of her mind trying to find him. You also have Sharon finding out about Scott and Abby. I feel like they had other good stories at the beginning, too.

Interesting choices. Dina kidnapping Christian and playing hide and seek can be submitted for Directing.

Dina and Ashley scene in the dining room can be for Writing.

It was very sad, but given that the show had an actress who was in the middle of a storyline but with whom they couldn’t come to a contract agreement, I don’t think it’s particularly interesting or clever that the show killed her off. The setup of the accident was pretty good, but I don’t remember the writing specifically of those scenes to have been standout, and I didn’t like what that story led into. What would have felt really clever is if the show had found a way to get rid of Hillary without such a seemingly final death for her. Y&R likes to do this thing where people at the show (producers, actors, whoever) say or imply that they don’t do back-from-the-dead storylines in a way that makes them feel superior to other shows. But they in fact do have people come back from the dead at times, and I would have respected it more if they’d come up with a more clever and interesting way of writing Hillary out.

I’m gonna disagree. I thought it was great writing.😀

I thought the best writing from Y&R was from early in 2018, the Dina alzheimer’s material and the J.T. abuse story. The show fell apart right after J.T.’s supposed demise and never recovered. The scene where Victoria tells of J.T.’s abuse was superb writing, as was the motel scene with Dina and Abby. For direction, the episode where Dina has baby Christian was superbly directed.

Nice to have Paul back on the show (finally) today! I had heard they won’t address his absence, he will just be on the show again with no explanation!

So happy to see Dina yesterday and hope for more from her, esp. when Ashley returns (although I think that will be more for Neil’s death). Even if she is a periodic guest performer I always am so happy to see her! and the added bonus of Traci too! (:

Noticed that Josh Griffith and Mal Young are both credited as headwriters right now, with JG having top billing… I think though that MY is leaving totally very soon (hooray!) (:

I’ve been taking a break from watching the soaps so I just read the updates. JG is cleaning up Y&R. Happy to see Paul back and the JT storyline has come to an end THANKFULLY.

So happy to see Paul on. Hopefully they’ll feature him multiple times a week and just not on every other month. I enjoyed the Sharon/Mariah and Victoria/JT scenes, too.

I hope this isn’t an April fools joke but I just read that Michelle Stafford is returning to the role of Phyllis, Gina Tongoni is leaving the show! I have been wanting this to happen for years! They seem to be cleaning the show up and turning it around after the disaster that was Mal Young!
