It’s only been two days, but they’ve already given Andrea Evans better material than she had in her entire 2008 return. Loved Blair and Tina sniping at each other. That’s exactly what was missing from her last stint, she wasn’t interacting with the characters she had history with.
Natalie and Jessica’s brawl in Angel Square was hysterical. I really wish Brody had let Natalie kill her.
I wish they had gotten a name to play Irene. Kim Zimmer or Robin Strasser would be perfect in the role but obviously they were already playing other roles on the show. They should have got Diedre Hall before Days had a chance to re-hire her. We already know she can play an over-the-top, ridiculous villain after Marlena’s possession and serial-killer storylines. And she and Erika Slezak are about the same age.September 29, 2011 at 9:29 am #418524
Andrea Evans has been a hoot, but I am side-eying at that hair/wig. And I hate to go here, but oy Kristen Alderson has been kind of terrible of late. The jail scene yesterdays episode was painful to watch.
As for the developments, glad that RC will be staying. Would’ve thought that ABC would tried to be btch ass about it, but since GH is all but gone and their focus on The Chew, maybe he was able to get out of his contract w/o anyone trying to be like no.September 30, 2011 at 1:02 pm #418526
TVLine has reveled that in addition to Kassie DePaiva, Erika Slezak, Michael Easton, Ted King, and Sean Ringgold coming on board, Jerry Ver Dorn, Melissa Archer, Kelley Missal, and Andrew Trischitta have also been signed. So has Ron Carlivati who will now have a consulting producer credit.September 30, 2011 at 1:18 pm #418527
Great news, I think. This is starting to feel like the show really will be almost the same as it has been now that more people are signing on and Carlivati passed on GH for it.September 30, 2011 at 1:20 pm #418528
Couldn’t they have signed Carmen LoPorto instead? But very happy about everyone else.October 3, 2011 at 8:24 am #418529
Having caught up on the week’s shows over the weekend, I’ve got to agree with gdfl on the writing for Tina, and eastwest on the hair! The hair is distracting, and Tina was just being so one-note and transparent. Andrea Evans is great, though.
What I really loved, actually, was the episode with Jessica and Natalie fighting in the square while Viki was treating Tina like the gum from the bottom of her shoe. The parallel between these two pairs of sisters is a beautiful thing, and they did a great job with it. It’s hard for me not to sympathize with Tina because Viki has this sense of entitlement, but it’s not like she did anything to earn all of her wealth except be Victor Lord’s daughter, which Tina is also.
But I’m totally Team Natalie. Jessica’s going out of her way to be such a bitch. I’m loving the tension between them, though. I can’t wait to see what Jess does with that paternity test.
And yes, they certainly should have gotten someone else to play Irene because this woman is intolerable. I haven’t been so irritated by a combination of character and actor since Inez Salinger, though the acting on Irene is definitely worse. I’m obviously glad it didn’t happen, but I can just imagine what a time Deidre Hall would have had with this role!October 7, 2011 at 7:37 am #418530
Blair and Todd are rocking my world. Kassie DePaiva and Roger Howarth still got it.
It’s nice that they still let Bo play the hero. Loved Blair and Tea giving him big bear hugs after he got rid of the bomb.
Loved the flashbacks in the Cord and Tina scenes.
Are Kim and Cutter still stuck in that hospital room in Kentucky? Just when I was starting to care about that story, they shelve it for two weeks.
James is such a girl! Starr’s taking her imprisonment much better than he is.
Still have no interest in Tomas and I’m starting to wish Ted King went back to GH instead of continuing with OLTL online. He’d be hot opposite Laura Wright, Robin Christopher or Nancy Lee Grahn. Ted King and Kassie DePaiva could have been hot if not for Howarth’s return.October 7, 2011 at 12:08 pm #418532
Watched the show live today. The Blair and Todd flashbacks show just how much Kassie DePaiva has grown as an actress. She’s just tremendous.
Andrea Evans voiced Princess David Vickers but who voiced baby Liam? Was it Michael Easton?
I love that Viki/Clint, Tina/Cord and Blair/Todd relationships are being brought to the forefront. Now if they could just give Bo/Nora some screentime, the OLTL supercouples would be accounted for.October 10, 2011 at 7:33 am #418533
Yes, I’m pretty sure that was Michael Easton voicing Liam. Those scenes were so cute. I loved that.
And those flashbacks with Todd and Blair and with Tina and Cord were really wonderful to see. I wasn’t watching the show during most of those periods, so I loved seeing bits of these classic stories that I’ve mostly only heard about. (And Marcia Cross!)
I had barely even noticed that the Kim/Cutter/Stacy business was tabled for the last two weeks. I love Kimberly, but most scenes with Cutter/Aubrey/Echo/Ghost Gigi feel like a real waste of precious time to me. I hope they keep playing to the characters and stories that matter.
I’ll also agree about Tomas. I’ve never liked the character, and that’s not changing. I get especially annoyed seeing him in scenes with Tea or Blair.
It’s pretty funny that Starr’s dad has now done a pretty similar thing to what landed Cole in prison — killing a pain-in-the-ass psycho villain who he thought that murdered his family. The difference for Todd is that she shot him first, so at least he’s got a defense.October 10, 2011 at 8:13 pm #418534
This whole GiGi/Staci storyline is a waste of TIME! my god….other than that I’m still loving OLTLOctober 12, 2011 at 12:08 pm #418535
Those Viki/Clint scenes were adorable.
Kim and Cutter are supposed to be broke. How do they keep getting back and forth from Pennsylvania to Kentucky?
Farah Fath trying to play Stacy yesterday was painful.
Shane needs to mount Jack already.October 13, 2011 at 6:39 pm #418536
Rant time! The show is becoming unwatchable due to story and the acting. This who killed Victor stuff is stupid, b/c in current soap fashion he’s probably not dead. The Stacy stuff is pointless and looks like a way to keep golden girl Farah Fath on. The big Shane and Jack scenes were painful to watch, b/c of both the actors. Austin Williams can be solid, but he wasn’t here and I am sure Andrew Trischitta is the nicest kid around, but there’s no reason for him to still be on unless there’s some behind the scenes nonsense that we are not privy to. They are in NY, so there’s no excuse for this.October 14, 2011 at 12:45 pm #418537
I am going to take a break from this show for awhile. Too many bad soap stories running at once is not a good time.October 17, 2011 at 1:31 pm #418538
Things have been a little frustrating. I’ve seen about halfway through last week’s episode, and I’m not exactly on the edge of my seat to see the rest. I said before that OLTL can swing from good to not-so-good, or vice versa, faster than any other soap I’ve seen, and it’s done it again. There was some great stuff a couple of weeks ago, and then focus shifted to things that don’t matter or aren’t even remotely plausible. Watching Cutter saunter into Stacy’s hopsital room (or is it Gigi!? [intrigue]) in Kentucky, when he had just been in Llanview, and say that he was going to take the money Rex supposedly signed over to Clint was just infuriating. It didn’t make sense on any level.
It’s certainly not all bad. But writing for actors who can’t carry their material or characters who don’t really serve a purpose (or the deadly combination of both) can really sink a soap. Just ask DAYS, which spent the last three years struggling to come up with one bad story after another for Chloe. This is what the writing feels like with characters like Jack, Stacy/Gigi, Cutter, and Tomas. On the other hand, the Viki/Clint scenes were really enjoyable, and I never even watched the show when those characters were together. And I think Terri Conn is really making Aubrey fit into the Llanview canvas.
