Voting begins for this year’s Goldies, where we choose the best in daytime for January 1, 2018 – December 31, 2018. Voting will commence on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 7 p.m. EST and ends on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 7 p.m. EST. The nominations will be announced on Friday, January 18, 2019 and we will have another 2 week final voting round in all categories. (Series, Ensemble Cast, Casting, Directing and Writing have 4 automatic nominees, so we will not be voting in that category until the 2nd final round)
– in each category, select your top FOUR candidates, ranked from 1st to 4th. Your top choice will receive 5 points, your next choice will receive 3 points, your next choice will receive 2 points, and your last choice will receive 1 point.
– you may vote in as many categories as you like. If you vote in a category you MUST vote for 4 candidates or that category will not be counted.
– your ballot will be considered if it includes at least TWO soaps on it. This is to discourage voters from stacking the deck in favor of one particular soap. If you believe, for instance, that Days had the 4 best lead actresses, that’s fine, but don’t submit a ballot with 28 Days actors on it.
– Drama Series, Writing, Directing, Casting and Ensemble are NOT included among the categories for voting in the first phase of voting – this is the nominating phase – they are default nominees for the final round of voting – that round will last 2 weeks immediately after this phase.
– Send your ballot to me (FreemanGriffin) via private message.
– FYC’s are o.k. but DO NOT post your entire ballot in the thread.
– You will receive a private message acknowledging receipt of your ballot ASAP.

Please let everyone you know that it is time to vote for our Goldies nominations for the best in daytime 2018!December 31, 2018 at 8:24 am #1202714825
If I have made any mistakes gently let me know. Also: who won the Legacy award last year? I have forgotten (was it Claire Labine?) and need to add last year’s winner to my list of non-eligible candidates for that award.January 3, 2019 at 5:41 am #1202717122
Voting begins today, January 3rd, at 7 p.m. EST for this year’s Goldies nominations! Read carefully the first post in this thread for instructions. Voting ends on January 17th, at 7 p.m. EST.January 4, 2019 at 9:09 am #1202718295
You’re right, Freeman, it was Claire Labine who won the Legacy Award last year.January 4, 2019 at 9:30 am #1202718313
^Thanks! I added her name to the legacy award winners list.
btw, I have the feeling there will be surprises this year, so be sure to vote!January 4, 2019 at 9:35 am #1202718318
I’m thinking about my choices now! I’m really excited to vote, and the nominations fields really seem pretty open!January 4, 2019 at 9:40 am #1202718325
This is just occurring to me now, but should we add a Performer of the Year category to the Goldies? It may be too late for this year, but I think it would be cool to have. After suggesting in the SAG thread that there be just one category for daytime performers, I thought it might be cool to pit all the performers in all categories against one another. It would also be a way to potentially recognize people who appear on more than one soap in a year, like Eileen Davidson having been great on both Y&R and DAYS in 2017.January 4, 2019 at 9:54 am #1202718343
Votes have already come in for the nominating phase, but we could have a Performer of the Year category where all of the performers that are nominated (other than Lifetime and Legacy) are the finalists on the ballot (Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Younger and guest? Maybe just the first four categories? Not sure), and some formula is used to make it fair? I’m not sure if that is workable, though.January 5, 2019 at 11:18 am #1202719596

FYC: Suzanne Rogers (Lifetime Achievement) for 45 years on Days Of Our Lives (:January 7, 2019 at 12:13 am #1202723756
I second Freeman’s FYC for Suzanne Rogers in Lifetime Achievement, and will add:
Lead Actress: Heather Tom (Katie Logan Forrester), B&B
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester), B&B
Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott), Y&R
Lead Actor: Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), B&B
Don Diamont (Bill Spencer), B&B
Tyler Christopher (Stefan O. DiMera), DAYS
Supporting Actress: Alley Mills (Pam Douglas), B&B
Jen Lilley (Teresa Donovan), DAYS
Supporting Actor: Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer), B&B
Dick Christie (Charlie Webber), B&BJanuary 7, 2019 at 12:44 am #1202723767

I really like EmmyLoser’s proposed idea of adding a Performer of the Year category. Any nominee on the final voting ballot could automatically qualify, as well as anyone under the Lead Actor/Actress list used during this nominating round.January 7, 2019 at 9:16 am #1202724276
Thanks everyone for these wonderful FYC. I always have a few people in mind but often forget so much of the year before being reminded, and this is much easier than just scouring the citations and show threads.
I think using the lists of all nominees in the acting categories for Performer of the Year for this year makes sense. It will produce a large field, but I doubt all that many people would end up getting votes.
Are people considering Jen Lilley in supporting actress rather than guest/limited performer? I was thinking of her more as the latter, but wanted to know what others think.
