Hey when does the nominations come out, and what date will the show be on Tv? I can’t find any information about this years show. Also will they put out a list of Pre-nominees?

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2022 at 11:01 am #1204751048The Daytime Emmy call for entries was issued a couple of weeks ago. I don’t believe there’s a specific schedule of events, but the document does say there will be multiple ceremonies held in June 2022, including one that will be broadcast live on CBS. Categories to be included in that broadcast will be announced with the nominations. The entry deadline for submissions is February 11.
Like last year, there will not be pre-nominees in any of the Daytime Drama performer categories. If a category is deemed to have too many entries to judge in a single round, the Emmys will employ their preliminary round judging, which they’ve typically used in other categories to narrow the list of potential nominees for final judging.
There were a few other interesting little tidbits in the rules document, though, with all the changes due to the realignment of categories between Daytime and Primetime Emmys, it is a very large document with a lot of information and clarifications.
One new rules is that a performer may only be submitted once per character, even if the character appears on multiple shows. The example given is that Deidre Hall, who played Dr. Marlena Evans on both Days of our Lives (NBC) and Beyond Salem (Peacock), could only submit one entry for playing this character on either or both shows. Her submission could include material from only Days of our Lives, only Beyond Salem, or both shows together. Of course, as has always been the case, a performer playing multiple characters on a single show could also submit only once. All Daytime Drama performers submit up to 15 minutes of material from as many shows as they like. Guest performer eligibility is what it’s been for the last few years. Both new and returning performers are eligible, and basically everyone just has to agree that guest is your proper category placement.
I don’t know if this is new, but there’s also a note under the judging section that judges are required to have viewed a minimum percentage of an entry before being allowed to submit a score. (To my mind, that percentage should be 100, but that’s just me.)
The new judging methodology is that entries are judged on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest). The target number of nominees is five per category, but the Awards Committee may increase or decrease that based on the number of entries. Submissions with an average score of less than 3.0 will not be eligible for nomination. Ties for a win will be broken by comparing the highest scores (number of 7s and 6s) for tied entries. Ties for nominations won’t be broken unless they will result in greater than the maximum number of nominees, which is seven by default but can be adjusted based on the number of entries.

Thanks for this information!!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 30, 2022 at 6:58 am #1204759604This isn’t official, but it seems this award show event form has the show currently listed as being scheduled for Sunday, May 1, 2022.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2022 at 10:12 am #1204761980It would be great if they actually did the awards that early and not at the end of June. Usually they release more of a schedule than anything I’ve see this year. But the Daytime Emmy Twitter account just tweeted on Friday that the ceremonies would be in June (though the fine print says all dates subject to change).
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2022 at 2:54 pm #1204780474I really wish they would share with us who has submitted and who has chosen not to submit and in which category too. I have the feeling that Kirsten Storms, if she submits, will do so in the Supporting Actress category – Josh Swickard I think will most likely submit there if he submits too.
Laura Wright did not submit last year but I suspect she will this year.
Is Maurice Benard content with his 3 Emmys or will he submit again this year? He didn’t submit for 2019 but won for 2018 and 2020.
Also: I really wish they would let us know what the shows submit for Drama Series, Directing and Writing. I think Y&R did not have a good year in 2021 but I could see it winning based on very particular episodes from early in the year that were particularly strong. I did not like the writing for Days this past year but they could put together a strong reel. This is why I believe the Emmys ought to have committees that watch the whole entire year – now that it is down to just 4 shows, 3 1/2 hours a day it would be much more manageable – and the results would actually reflect the whole entire year instead of a – who is able to put together the best reel award.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 20, 2022 at 9:51 pm #1204811420I really wish [National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences] would share with us who has submitted and who has chosen not to submit and in which category too.
NATAS does not want—and does not intend—to let that be known.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 21, 2022 at 7:04 am #1204811817it says that the nominations will come out in MAY – why oh why does it take so long? It’s ridiculous!
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 21, 2022 at 7:23 am #1204811827Yeah, I checked the site to see if there was any updated information, but it seems like at this point, we probably won’t get any new information for another couple of months.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2022 at 9:40 am #1204885844I have a feeling Y&R will submit the anniversary death of Neil Winters which was beautifully written and deserve Writing for Y&R.
DAYS better NOT submit the possession storyline.
B&B, they could submit Sheila being Finn’s mother or Carter/Quinn/Eric love triangle which I think these could be submitted for Writing.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2022 at 9:50 am #1204885876They were snubbed 25 years ago from the possession storyline, but this possession storyline won them the writers guild award….so who knows how well it would be accepted this time around.
ReplyCopy URLApril 14, 2022 at 7:11 am #1204916511Confused by the ruling relating to Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem? Will it be eligible for Best Daytime Drama Series, Directing and Writing? Are the actors only eligible for Guest Performer Emmys?
I have read that the nominations will be revealed “in May” – talk about vague! (; Aren’t the awards going to be in June?
