I loved Joaquin in Joker, but his performance in The Master is one of greatest in film history. Truly incredible.

I wonder why GD doesn’t like his performance in Joker. I understand that people don’t like the film and the character, and that can factor into their perception. I can also see how some people can feel it’s overrated because it’s so bombastic and showy. But was there any specific aspect of his performance in Joker that people didn’t like?

It’s a Travis Bickle/Rupert Pupkin rip-off.

And plus he already did better this alienated outsider type of role in films such as The Master and You Were Never Really Here.

It isn´t a rip off, Travis is a completly different character. He did not better in those films, he was equally amazing in Joker too.
