Incredible year, and I have only seen few films from it. Maybe the best of the century after 2001. I’ll combine the screenplay categories because I don’t want to check what’s adapted and what isn’t. And as usual, no gender distinction from me in the acting categories; and, in this case, no supporting ballot because I can’t think of five performances.

    Best Picture
    24 City (winner)
    35 Shots of Rum
    Artemide’s Knee
    Gran Torino
    Night and Day

    Best Director
    Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
    Clint Eastwood, Changeling
    Christian Petzold, Jerichow
    M. Night Shyamalan, The Happening
    Wachowski Sisters, Speed Racer (winners)

    Best Screenplay
    Hong Sang-soo, Night and Day
Dave Johansson & Nick Schenk, Gran Torino
Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Max Mannix & Sachiko Tanaka, Tokyo Sonata
    Lucrecia Martel, The Headless Woman
    Cesare Pavese, Artemide’s Knee (winner)

Best Performance in a Leading Role
Alex Descas, 35 Shots of Rum
Mati Diop, 35 Shots of Rum (winner)
    Nina Hoss, Jerichow
    Angelina Jolie, Changeling
    Kin Young-ho, Night and Day
