I never got how Tommy Lee Jones won. Fiennes, DiCaprio and Malkovitch were all much better imo.

Career win. Fiennes was too intimidating in his role in addition to still being pretty new to Hollywood to win.

Not a very good decade of winners. Only twice did my choice win. PS. Spacey is one of my least favorite celebrated actors and it has nothing to do with the disgusting person he is in his personal life. But if his work ranks 6 out of 10 here and I don’t like his acting it’s a bad decade of winners.

    1. Martin Landau, Ed Wood (Gary Sinise was my choice)
    2. Joe Pesci, Goodfellas (My choice is Pesci)
    3. Gene Hackman, Unforgiven (My choice is Hackman)
    4. Tommy Lee Jones, The Fugitive (Ralph Fiennes was my choice)
    5. Michael Caine, The Cider House Rules (Jude Law was my choice)
    6. Kevin Spacey, The Usual Suspects (Tim Roth was my choice)
    7. Robin Williams, Good Will Hunting (Greg Kinnear was my choice)
    8. James Coburn, Affliction (Billy Bob Thornton was my choice)
    9. Jack Palance, City Slickers (Harvey Keitel was my choice)
    10. Cuba Gooding Jr., Jerry Maguire (William H. Macy was my choice)

I haven’t seen too many of these winners but I have to agree with Thatcher on Pesci- I didn’t think he did that much in Goodfellas to be honest and I felt the film was overrated although it really isn’t my cup of tea in the first place.Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robin Williams were fine I guess.

He played literally the perfect comedic and dramatic character in a mob movie ever to date.
